Isaiah 48

1 Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and who came forth from the loins of Judah; who swear by the name of the LORD, and confess the God of Israel, but not in truth or right.	1 Hört dies, ihr vom Hause Jakob, die ihr den Namen Israels tragt und von Juda abstammt, die ihr schwört im Namen des Herrn und den Gott Israels bekennt, doch unaufrichtig und unwahr!
2 For they call themselves after the holy city, and stay themselves on the God of Israel; the LORD of hosts is his name.	2 Ja, nach der heiligen Stadt sind sie benannt, sie stützen sich auf Israels Gott, Herr der Heere ist sein Name!
3 "The former things I declared of old, they went forth from my mouth and I made them known; then suddenly I did them and they came to pass.	3 Die früheren Weissagungen habe ich längst schon verkündet; aus meinem Munde kamen sie, und ich ließ sie vernehmen. Plötzlich habe ich gehandelt, und sie trafen ein.
4 Because I know that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead brass,	4 Ich wußte ja, daß du halsstarrig bist, eine eiserne Sehne dein Genick ist und deine Stirne von Erz.
5 I declared them to you from of old, before they came to pass I announced them to you, lest you should say, 'My idol did them, my graven image and my molten image commanded them.'	5 Darum verkündete ich es dir längst zuvor. Bevor es eintraf, ließ ich es dich vernehmen, damit du nicht sagen konntest: "Mein Götzenbild tat es; mein Schnitz- und mein Gußbild hat es so angeordnet."
6 "You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forth I make you hear new things, hidden things which you have not known.	6 Du hast es gehört; betrachte nun alles! Wohlan, wollt ihr es nicht verkünden? Neues laß ich dich hören von jetzt an und Verborgenes, dir Unbekanntes.
7 They are created now, not long ago; before today you have never heard of them, lest you should say, 'Behold, I knew them.'	7 Nunmehr ward es geschaffen, nicht vormals. Früher hast du davon noch nichts gehört, damit du nicht sagen kannst: "Ich wußte es schon!"
8 You have never heard, you have never known, from of old your ear has not been opened. For I knew that you would deal very treacherously, and that from birth you were called a rebel.	8 Weder hast du davon gehört noch gewußt, noch ward ehedem aufgetan dein Ohr; denn ich wußte gar wohl, daß du vollkommen treulos bist und "Abtrünnig vom Mutterleib an" genannt wirst.
9 "For my name's sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off.	9 Ich halte zurück den eigenen Zorn um meines Namens willen, meinem Ruhme zulieb verschone ich dich, daß ich dich nicht vertilge.
10 Behold, I have refined you, but not like silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction.	10 Siehe, ich läuterte dich, doch nicht wie zu Silber, und ich erprobte dich im Ofen der Trübsal.
11 For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.	11 Um meinetwillen, ja meinetwillen handle ich. Denn wie dürfte mein Name entweiht werden? Und meine Ehre gebe ich keinem anderen preis.
12 "Hearken to me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I called! I am He, I am the first, and I am the last.	12 Höre, Jakob, auf mich, und Israel, mein Berufener! Ich bin es, ich bin der Erste, ich bin auch der Letzte!
13 My hand laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand forth together.	13 Hat doch meine Hand die Erde gegründet, meine Rechte den Himmel ausgespannt! Als ich sie rief, standen sie alsogleich da.
14 "Assemble, all of you, and hear! Who among them has declared these things? The LORD loves him; he shall perform his purpose on Babylon, and his arm shall be against the Chaldeans.	14 Versammelt euch alle und hört: Wer unter jenen hat dies verkündet? Mein Freund (Cyrus) wird meinen Willen vollstrecken an Babel und am Geschlecht der Kaldäer.
15 I, even I, have spoken and called him, I have brought him, and he will prosper in his way.	15 Ich, ich sagte es ja und habe ihn berufen, ihn herbeigeführt, er wird glücklich seinen Zug vollenden.
16 Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it came to be I have been there." And now the Lord GOD has sent me and his Spirit.	16 Naht euch mir und hört dies: Nicht nur heimlich redete ich von Anfang an; seit es geschieht, bin ich dabei. [Und nun hat der Gebieter und Herr mich gesandt und seinen Geist.]
17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.	17 So spricht der Herr, dein Erlöser, der Heilige Israels: "Ich bin der Herr, dein Gott, der dir zum Nutzen Lehre erteilt, der dich auf den Weg führt, den du zu wandeln hast!
18 O that you had hearkened to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea;	18 O hättest du doch meine Gebote beachtet, so wäre dein Glück wie ein Strom und dein Heil wie die Wogen des Meeres.
19 your offspring would have been like the sand, and your descendants like its grains; their name would never be cut off or destroyed from before me."	19 Dein Geschlecht wäre dem Sande gleich, deine leiblichen Nachkommen zahlreich wie seine Körner. Nicht würde ausgerottet und nicht vertilgt ihr Name vor mir!"
20 Go forth from Babylon, flee from Chaldea, declare this with a shout of joy, proclaim it, send it forth to the end of the earth; say, "The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob!"	20 Fort von Babel, flieht aus Kaldäa! Mit Jubelruf meldet, verkündet dies, tragt es hinaus bis an die Enden der Erde! Sprecht: "Der Herr hat Jakob, seinen Knecht, erlöst!"
21 They thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he cleft the rock and the water gushed out.	21 Sie dürsteten nicht, als er in Wüsten sie führte; Wasser aus dem Felsen ließ er ihnen rieseln; er spaltete den Fels, da sprudelte Wasser.
22 "There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked."	22 "Die Frevler", so spricht der Herr, "haben kein Heil!"
