1 Then the LORD said to Moses,	1 El Señor dijo a Moisés:
2 "Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pi-ha-hiroth, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp over against it, by the sea.	2 «Di a los hijos de Israel que se vuelvan y acampen en Piajirot, entre Migdal y el mar, frente a Baalsefón. Acampad allí, mirando al mar.
3 For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, 'They are entangled in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.'	3 El faraón pensará: “Los hijos de Israel andan errantes por el país, el desierto les cierra el paso”.
4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host; and the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD." And they did so.	4 Haré que el faraón se obstine en perseguiros y mostraré mi gloria derrotando al faraón y a su ejército; para que sepan los egipcios que soy el Señor». Y así lo hicieron.
5 When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, "What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?"	5 Cuando comunicaron al rey de Egipto que el pueblo había escapado, el faraón y sus servidores cambiaron de parecer sobre el pueblo y se dijeron: «¿Qué hemos hecho? Hemos dejado escapar a Israel de nuestro servicio».
6 So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him,	6 Hizo, pues, preparar un carro y tomó consigo sus tropas:
7 and took six hundred picked chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them.	7 tomó seiscientos carros escogidos y los demás carros de Egipto con sus correspondientes oficiales.
8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt and he pursued the people of Israel as they went forth defiantly.	8 El Señor hizo que el faraón, rey de Egipto, se obstinase en perseguir a los hijos de Israel, mientras estos salían triunfantes.
9 The Egyptians pursued them, all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them encamped at the sea, by Pi-ha-hiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.	9 Los egipcios los persiguieron con todos los caballos y los carros del faraón, con sus jinetes y su ejército, y les dieron alcance mientras acampaban en Piajirot, frente a Baalsefón.
10 When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and they were in great fear. And the people of Israel cried out to the LORD;	10 Al acercarse el faraón, los hijos de Israel alzaron la vista y vieron a los egipcios que avanzaban detrás de ellos, quedaron sobrecogidos de miedo y gritaron al Señor.
11 and they said to Moses, "Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us, in bringing us out of Egypt?	11 Dijeron a Moisés: «¿No había sepulcros en Egipto para que nos hayas traído a morir en el desierto?; ¿qué nos has hecho sacándonos de Egipto?
12 Is not this what we said to you in Egypt, 'Let us alone and let us serve the Egyptians? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness."	12 ¿No te lo decíamos en Egipto: “Déjanos en paz y serviremos a los egipcios, pues más nos vale servir a los egipcios que morir en el desierto?”».
13 And Moses said to the people, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today; for the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.	13 Moisés respondió al pueblo: «No temáis; estad firmes y veréis la victoria que el Señor os va a conceder hoy: esos egipcios que estáis viendo hoy, no los volveréis a ver jamás.
14 The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be still."	14 El Señor peleará por vosotros; vosotros esperad tranquilos».
15 The LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.	15 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «¿Por qué sigues clamando a mí? Di a los hijos de Israel que se pongan en marcha.
16 Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go on dry ground through the sea.	16 Y tú, alza tu cayado, extiende tu mano sobre el mar y divídelo, para que los hijos de Israel pasen por medio del mar, por lo seco.
17 And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen.	17 Yo haré que los egipcios se obstinen y entren detrás de vosotros, y me cubriré de gloria a costa del faraón y de todo su ejército, de sus carros y de sus jinetes.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen."	18 Así sabrán los egipcios que yo soy el Señor, cuando me haya cubierto de gloria a costa del faraón, de sus carros y de sus jinetes».
19 Then the angel of God who went before the host of Israel moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them,	19 Se puso en marcha el ángel del Señor, que iba al frente del ejército de Israel, y pasó a retaguardia. También la columna de nube, que iba delante de ellos, se desplazó y se colocó detrás,
20 coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness; and the night passed without one coming near the other all night.	20 poniéndose entre el campamento de los egipcios y el campamento de Israel. La nube era tenebrosa y transcurrió toda la noche sin que los ejércitos pudieran aproximarse el uno al otro.
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.	21 Moisés extendió su mano sobre el mar y el Señor hizo retirarse el mar con un fuerte viento del este que sopló toda la noche; el mar se secó y se dividieron las aguas.
22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.	22 Los hijos de Israel entraron en medio del mar, en lo seco, y las aguas les hacían de muralla a derecha e izquierda.
23 The Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.	23 Los egipcios los persiguieron y entraron tras ellos, en medio del mar: todos los caballos del faraón, sus carros y sus jinetes.
24 And in the morning watch the LORD in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down upon the host of the Egyptians, and discomfited the host of the Egyptians,	24 Era ya la vigilia matutina cuando el Señor miró desde la columna de fuego y humo hacia el ejército de los egipcios y sembró el pánico en el ejército egipcio.
25 clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily; and the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from before Israel; for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians."	25 Trabó las ruedas de sus carros, haciéndolos avanzar pesadamente. Los egipcios dijeron: «Huyamos ante Israel, porque el Señor lucha por él contra Egipto».
26 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen."	26 Luego dijo el Señor a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano sobre el mar, y vuelvan las aguas sobre los egipcios, sus carros y sus jinetes».
27 So Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its wonted flow when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled into it, and the LORD routed the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.	27 Moisés extendió su mano sobre el mar; y al despuntar el día el mar recobró su estado natural, de modo que los egipcios, en su huida, toparon con las aguas. Así precipitó el Señor a los egipcios en medio del mar.
28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen and all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea; not so much as one of them remained.	28 Las aguas volvieron y cubrieron los carros, los jinetes y todo el ejército del faraón, que había entrado en el mar. Ni uno solo se salvó.
29 But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.	29 Mas los hijos de Israel pasaron en seco por medio del mar, mientras las aguas hacían de muralla a derecha e izquierda.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the seashore.	30 Aquel día salvó el Señor a Israel del poder de Egipto, e Israel vio a los egipcios muertos, en la orilla del mar.
31 And Israel saw the great work which the LORD did against the Egyptians, and the people feared the LORD; and they believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses.	31 Vio, pues, Israel la mano potente que el Señor había desplegado contra los egipcios, y temió el pueblo al Señor, y creyó en el Señor y en Moisés, su siervo.
