Nehemiah 6

1 Now when it was reported to Sanballat and Tobiah and to Geshem the Arab and to the rest of our enemies that I had built the wall and that there was no breach left in it (although up to that time I had not set up the doors in the gates),	1 Amikor meghallotta Szanballát, Tóbiás, az arab Gósem meg a többi ellenségünk, hogy felépítettem a falat, és nincs többé rés rajta (akkoriban már csak a kapuszárnyakat nem szereltem még fel),
2 Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, "Come and let us meet together in one of the villages in the plain of Ono." But they intended to do me harm.	2 elküldtek hozzám Szanballát és Gósem ezzel az üzenettel: »Jöjj, találkozzunk Kefirimben az Onó völgyében.« Ők azonban azt tervezték, hogy gonosz dolgot cselekszenek velem.
3 And I sent messengers to them, saying, "I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?"	3 Erre én követeket küldtem hozzájuk, ezzel az üzenettel: »Nagy munkán dolgozom. Nem mehetek le, mert az visszamaradna, ha elindulnék és lemennék hozzátok.«
4 And they sent to me four times in this way and I answered them in the same manner.	4 Négyszer küldtek ilyen módon hozzám, én azonban a fenti szavakkal válaszoltam nekik.
5 In the same way Sanballat for the fifth time sent his servant to me with an open letter in his hand.	5 Sőt Szanballát az előbb említett üzenettel ötödször is elküldte hozzám emberét, és ez nyílt levelet hozott kezében, amelyben ezt írta:
6 In it was written, "It is reported among the nations, and Geshem also says it, that you and the Jews intend to rebel; that is why you are building the wall; and you wish to become their king, according to this report.	6 »A népek között úgy hallatszik, Gesem is mondta, hogy te meg a zsidók lázadást szítotok, és azért építed a falat, mert királyuk akarsz lenni. 7 And you have also set up prophets to proclaim concerning you in Jerusalem, 'There is a king in Judah.' And now it will be reported to the king according to these words. So now come, and let us take counsel together."	7 prófétákat is fogadtál, hogy hirdessék és mondják felőled Jeruzsálemben: ‘Király van Júdeában!’ Ez a dolog el fog jutni a király füléhez, azért jöjj, tanácskozzunk egymással!«
8 Then I sent to him, saying, "No such things as you say have been done, for you are inventing them out of your own mind."	8 Én azonban elküldtem hozzájuk és ezt üzentem: »Nem úgy történt, mint ahogyan te előadod. Magad találtad azt ki.«
9 For they all wanted to frighten us, thinking, "Their hands will drop from the work, and it will not be done." But now, O God, strengthen thou my hands.	9 Így ijesztgettek minket mindnyájan abban a reményben, hogy »kezünk eláll majd a munkától és abbahagyjuk azt.« Kezem azonban éppen ezért még több erőre kapott.
10 Now when I went into the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabel, who was shut up, he said, "Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us close the doors of the temple; for they are coming to kill you, at night they are coming to kill you."	10 Amikor pedig elmentem annak a Semajának a házába, aki Metabeél fiának, Dalájának volt a fia, ő így szólt hozzám: »Tárgyaljunk inkább az Isten házában egymással, a templom bensejében, és zárjuk be az épület kapuit, mert eljönnek majd, hogy megöljenek, éspedig éjjel fognak eljönni, hogy meggyilkoljanak téged.«
11 But I said, "Should such a man as I flee? And what man such as I could go into the temple and live? I will not go in."	11 Én azonban így feleltem: »Hogyan menekülhetne olyan ember, mint én? Hogyan tehetné be magamfajta ember a lábát a templomba anélkül, hogy életét veszítené? Nem lépek be.«
12 And I understood, and saw that God had not sent him, but he had pronounced the prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.	12 Megértettem ugyanis, hogy nem az Isten küldte őt, hanem azért mondta ezt a hamis jövendölést rólam, mert Tóbiás meg Szanballát felbérelték őt.
13 For this purpose he was hired, that I should be afraid and act in this way and sin, and so they could give me an evil name, in order to taunt me.	13 Pénzt kapott ugyanis, hogy én ijedtemben olyasmit tegyek, ami bűn, és így legyen valami rossz, amit terhemre róhatnak.
14 Remember Tobiah and Sanballat, O my God, according to these things that they did, and also the prophetess No-adiah and the rest of the prophets who wanted to make me afraid.	14 Tudd be, Uram, Tóbiásnak és Szanballátnak ilyesféle cselekedeteiket, de Noádja prófétának, meg a többi prófétának is, akik ijesztgettek engem.
15 So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days.	15 Elkészült tehát a fal Elul hónap huszonötödik napján, ötvenkét nap alatt.
16 And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations round about us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem; for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.	16 Amikor ellenségeink mindannyian meghallották, hogy félelem fogott el minden népet, amely körülöttünk volt, az ő büszkeségük is összeomlott, és megtudták, hogy Isten vitte véghez ezt a művet.
17 Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and Tobiah's letters came to them.	17 Abban az időben a zsidók sok előkelő emberétől ment levél Tóbiáshoz és Tóbiástól is jött őhozzájuk.
18 For many in Judah were bound by oath to him, because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah the son of Arah: and his son Jehohanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah as his wife.	18 Sokan voltak ugyanis Júdeában, akik esküvel kötelezték le magukat neki, hiszen ő Área fiának, Sekenjának veje volt, fia Johanán pedig Berekja fiának, Mesullámnak leányát vette el feleségül.
19 Also they spoke of his good deeds in my presence, and reported my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to make me afraid.	19 Még magasztalták is előttem és szavaimat hírül vitték neki. Tóbiás pedig leveleket küldözgetett, hogy megfélemlítsen engem.
