2 Samuel 22

1 And David spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.	1 David disse a Jahvè le parole di questo cantico dopo che Jahvè lo aveva liberato dalla mano dei suoi nemici e dalla mano di Saul.
2 He said, "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer,	2 Disse dunque: «O Jahvè, mia roccia, mia fortezza!
3 my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; thou savest me from violence.	3 Dio mio, mia rupe: mi rifugio in lui! Mio scudo e mio potente salvatore! Mia cittadella e mio scampo dall’oppressione!
4 I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.	4 Se io grido: “Lode a Jahvè!” sono salvo dai miei nemici.
5 "For the waves of death encompassed me, the torrents of perdition assailed me;	5 Mi circondarono flutti di morte, mi avevano colto torrenti di Belial,
6 the cords of Sheol entangled me, the snares of death confronted me.	6 lacci dello Sheol mi avevano avvolto, ero incappato nelle reti della morte.
7 "In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I called. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry came to his ears.	7 Nella mia angoscia ho gridato: “Jahvè!” ho chiesto aiuto al mio Dio. Egli udì dal suo tempio la mia voce, il mio appello giunse al suo cospetto.
8 "Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations of the heavens trembled and quaked, because he was angry.	8 La terra ebbe un moto, un sussulto: le basi del cielo tremarono, vacillarono, perché era adirato.
9 Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him.	9 Fumo gli stava tra le narici; fuoco divoratore dalla sua bocca; carboni ardenti uscivano da lui.
10 He bowed the heavens, and came down; thick darkness was under his feet.	10 Abbassò i cieli e discese: un nembo era sotto i suoi piedi.
11 He rode on a cherub, and flew; he was seen upon the wings of the wind.	11 Montò sopra un Cherubino e volò, si alzò a volo sulle ali dei venti.
12 He made darkness around him his canopy, thick clouds, a gathering of water.	12 Si avvolse in un velo di tenebre; come una tenda lo circondava, grande abbondanza di acque, un ammasso di nubi.
13 Out of the brightness before him coals of fire flamed forth.	13 Per il fulgore che irradiava, fiammeggiarono grandine e carboni ardenti.
14 The LORD thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice.	14 Tuonò dai cieli Jahvè, l’Altissimo emise il grido.
15 And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and routed them.	15 Scagliò saette dovunque, con violenza folgorò campi.
16 Then the channels of the sea were seen, the foundations of the world were laid bare, at the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.	16 Si videro i fondi del mare, furono messi a nudo i sostegni del mondo al grido minaccioso di Jahvè, all’alito che usciva dalle sue narici.
17 "He reached from on high, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.	17 Tese la mano dall’alto, mi prese, mi trasse da flutti infiniti;
18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me; for they were too mighty for me.	18 mi strappò al mio potente nemico a chi mi odiava, più gagliardo di me.
19 They came upon me in the day of my calamity; but the LORD was my stay.	19 Mi affrontarono in giorno a me fuzesto, ma Jahvè mi fu di sostegno.
20 He brought me forth into a broad place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.	20 Mi ha tratto in un luogo più aperto, mi ha liberato perché mi vuole bene.
21 "The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he recompensed me.	21 Jahvè ha ricambiato la mia giustizia; mi ha premiato perché erano pure le mie mani;
22 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.	22 perché avevo custodito le sue vie né avevo agito male con il mio Dio.
23 For all his ordinances were before me, and from his statutes I did not turn aside.	23 Perché ho innanzi a me tutti i suoi giudizi e non respingo da me i suoi decreti.
24 I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from guilt.	24 Con lui tenni una condotta perfetta, mi guardai dal commettere iniquità.
25 Therefore the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness in his sight.	25 Jahvè ha premiato la mia giustizia, la mia innocenza davanti ai suoi occhi.
26 "With the loyal thou dost show thyself loyal; with the blameless man thou dost show thyself blameless;	26 Con il pio ti comporti da pio, con l’uomo retto tu pure sei retto.
27 with the pure thou dost show thyself pure, and with the crooked thou dost show thyself perverse.	27 Con chi è duro ti mostri duro, con il perverso usi raggiri.
28 Thou dost deliver a humble people, but thy eyes are upon the haughty to bring them down.	28 Poiché tu salvi la gente umile ma fulmini i tuoi occhi sui superbi.
29 Yea, thou art my lamp, O LORD, and my God lightens my darkness.	29 Sì, sei tu la mia lampada, o Jahvè, il mio Dio che illumina le mie tenebre.
30 Yea, by thee I can crush a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.	30 Sì, con te io distruggo barriere, con il mio Dio supero ogni muro.
31 This God--his way is perfect; the promise of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.	31 Dio... è perfetto il suo agire! La parola di Jahvè è sicura! Egli è scudo per chi si rifugia in lui!
32 "For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?	32 Infatti chi è Dio all’infuori di Jahvè? Chi è una rupe fuorché il nostro Dio?
33 This God is my strong refuge, and has made my way safe.	33 Egli è il Dio che mi veste di forza; che rende sicuro il mio sentiero;
34 He made my feet like hinds' feet, and set me secure on the heights.	34 che fa i miei piedi come quelli dei cervi e mi regge sopra le alture;
35 He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.	35 che addestra le mie mani alla battaglia, le mie braccia a tendere l’arco di bronzo.
36 Thou hast given me the shield of thy salvation, and thy help made me great.	36 Mi hai dato il tuo scudo salvatore, la tua targa mi copriva.
37 Thou didst give a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip;	37 Allargavi il sentiero ai miei passi, i miei piedi non hanno vacillato.
38 I pursued my enemies and destroyed them, and did not turn back until they were consumed.	38 Inseguivo i nemici, li disperdevo, non ritornavo prima di averli finiti.
39 I consumed them; I thrust them through, so that they did not rise; they fell under my feet.	39 Li spezzai, non si levano più; sono prostrati sotto i miei piedi!
40 For thou didst gird me with strength for the battle; thou didst make my assailants sink under me.	40 Mi cingevi di forza alla battaglia, curvavi gli avversari sotto di me.
41 Thou didst make my enemies turn their backs to me, those who hated me, and I destroyed them.	41 I nemici... a me volgevi il loro dorso! Così chi mi odiava, e io li annientavo!
42 They looked, but there was none to save; they cried to the LORD, but he did not answer them.	42 Gridavano ma nessuno li udiva: a Jahvè, ma egli non rispondeva.
43 I beat them fine as the dust of the earth, I crushed them and stamped them down like the mire of the streets.	43 Li frantumavo come polvere del suolo, li pestavo come il fango dei vicoli.
44 "Thou didst deliver me from strife with the peoples; thou didst keep me as the head of the nations; people whom I had not known served me.	44 Mi hai scampato dagli assalti dei popoli, mi hai messo a capo di nazioni, popoli ignoti mi servono.
45 Foreigners came cringing to me; as soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me.	45 I figli dello straniero mi supplicano, obbediscono al minimo cenno;
46 Foreigners lost heart, and came trembling out of their fastnesses.	46 i figli dello straniero sono scoraggiati, se ne escono dai loro ripari.
47 "The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock, and exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation,	47 Per la vita di Jahvè: Benedetta la mia rupe! Si esalti il Dio della mia salvezza!
48 the God who gave me vengeance and brought down peoples under me,	48 Il Dio che mi accorda vendetta, che a me sottomette i popoli,
49 who brought me out from my enemies; thou didst exalt me above my adversaries, thou didst deliver me from men of violence.	49 che mi sottrae ai miei nemici, mi innalza sugli avversari e mi scampa dall’uomo violento!
50 "For this I will extol thee, O LORD, among the nations, and sing praises to thy name.	50 Per questo ti lodo, o Jahvè, fra le genti celebro il tuo nome:
51 Great triumphs he gives to his king, and shows steadfast love to his anointed, to David, and his descendants for ever."	51 lui dà grandi vittorie al suo re e largisce favori al suo unto, a David e alla sua stirpe, per sempre».
