Galatians 3

1 O senseless Galatians, who has so fascinated you that you would not obey the truth, even though Jesus Christ has been presented before your eyes, crucified among you?	1 ¡Oh, insensatos Gálatas! ¿Quién os ha fascinado a vosotros, a cuyos ojos se presentó a Cristo crucificado?
2 I wish to know only this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?	2 Solo quiero que me contestéis a esto: ¿Recibisteis el Espíritu por las obras de la ley o por haber escuchado con fe?
3 Are you so foolish that, though you began with the Spirit, you would now end with the flesh?	3 ¿Tan insensatos sois? ¿Empezasteis por el Espíritu para terminar con la carne?
4 Have you been suffering so much without a reason? If so, then it is in vain.	4 ¿Habéis vivido en vano tantas experiencias? Y si fuera en vano…
5 Therefore, does he who distributes the Spirit to you, and who works miracles among you, act by the works of the law, or by the hearing of the faith?	5 Vamos a ver: el que os concede el Espíritu y obra prodigios entre vosotros, ¿lo hace por las obras de la ley o por haber escuchado con fe?
6 It is just as it was written: “Abraham believed God, and it was reputed to him unto justice.”	6 Lo mismo que Abrahán: creyó a Dios, y le fue contado como justicia.
7 Therefore, know that those who are of faith, these are the sons of Abraham.	7 Reconoced, pues, que hijos de Abrahán son los de la fe.
8 Thus Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, foretold to Abraham: “All nations shall be blessed in you.”	8 En efecto, la Escritura, previendo que Dios justificaría a los gentiles por la fe, le adelantó a Abrahán la buena noticia de que por ti serán benditas todas las naciones.
9 And so, those who are of faith shall be blessed with faithful Abraham.	9 Así pues, los que viven de la fe son bendecidos con Abrahán el fiel.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it has been written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all the things that have been written in the book of the Law, so as to do them.”	10 En cambio, cuantos viven de las obras de la ley están bajo maldición, porque está escrito: Maldito quien no se mantenga en todo lo escrito en el libro de la ley, cumpliéndolo.
11 And, since in the law no one is justified with God, this is manifest: “For the just man lives by faith.”	11 Que en el ámbito de la ley nadie es justificado resulta evidente, pues el justo por la fe vivirá;
12 But the law is not of faith; instead, “he who does these things shall live by them.”	12 en cambio, la ley no procede de la fe, sino que quien los cumpla vivirá por ellos.
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, since he became a curse for us. For it is written: “Cursed is anyone who hangs from a tree.”	13 Cristo nos rescató de la maldición de la ley, haciéndose por nosotros maldición, porque está escrito: Maldito todo el que cuelga de un madero;
14 This was so that the blessing of Abraham might reach the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, in order that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.	14 y esto, para que la bendición de Abrahán alcanzase a los gentiles en Cristo Jesús, y para que recibiéramos por la fe la promesa del Espíritu.
15 Brothers (I speak according to man), if a man’s testament has been confirmed, no one would reject it or add to it.	15 Hermanos, hablo desde un punto de vista humano: un testamento debidamente otorgado, aunque sea de un hombre, nadie puede anularlo ni añadirle cláusula alguna.
16 The promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. He did not say, “and to descendents,” as if to many, but instead, as if to one, he said, “and to your offspring,” who is Christ.	16 Pues bien, las promesas se le hicieron a Abrahán y a su descendencia (no dice «y a los descendientes», como si fueran muchos, sino y a tu descendencia, que es Cristo).
17 But I say this: the testament confirmed by God, which, after four hundred and thirty years became the Law, does not nullify, so as to make the promise empty.	17 Lo que digo es esto: un testamento debidamente otorgado por Dios no pudo invalidarlo la ley, que apareció cuatrocientos treinta años más tarde, de modo que anulara la promesa;
18 For if the inheritance is of the law, then it is no longer of the promise. But God bestowed it to Abraham through the promise.	18 pues, si la herencia viniera en virtud de la ley, ya no dependería de la promesa; y es un hecho que a Abrahán Dios le otorgó su gracia en virtud de la promesa.
19 Why, then, was there a law? It was established because of transgressions, until the offspring would arrive, to whom he made the promise, ordained by Angels through the hand of a mediator.	19 Entonces, ¿qué decir de la ley? Fue añadida en razón de las transgresiones, hasta que llegara el descendiente a quien se había hecho la promesa, y fue promulgada por ángeles a través de un mediador;
20 Now a mediator is not of one, yet God is one.	20 además, el mediador no lo es de uno solo, mientras que Dios es uno solo.
21 So then, was the law contrary to the promises of God? Let it not be so! For if a law had been given, which was able to give life, truly justice would be of the law.	21 Entonces, ¿va la ley contra las promesas de Dios? Ni mucho menos. Pues si se hubiera otorgado una ley capaz de dar vida, la justicia dependería realmente de la ley.
22 But Scripture has enclosed everything under sin, so that the promise, by the faith of Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.	22 Pero no, la Escritura lo encerró todo bajo el pecado, para que la promesa se otorgara por la fe en Jesucristo a los que creen.
23 But before the faith arrived, we were preserved by being enclosed under the law, unto that faith which was to be revealed.	23 Antes de que llegara la fe, éramos prisioneros y estábamos custodiados bajo la ley hasta que se revelase la fe.
24 And so the law was our guardian in Christ, in order that we might be justified by faith.	24 La ley fue así nuestro ayo, hasta que llegara Cristo, a fin de ser justificados por fe;
25 But now that faith has arrived, we are no longer under a guardian.	25 pero una vez llegada la fe, ya no estamos sometidos al ayo.
26 For you are all sons of God, through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.	26 Pues todos sois hijos de Dios por la fe en Cristo Jesús.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized in Christ have become clothed with Christ.	27 Cuantos habéis sido bautizados en Cristo, os habéis revestido de Cristo.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither servant nor free; there is neither male nor female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.	28 No hay judío y griego, esclavo y libre, hombre y mujer, porque todos vosotros sois uno en Cristo Jesús.
29 And if you are Christ’s, then are you the offspring of Abraham, heirs according to the promise.	29 Y si sois de Cristo, sois descendencia de Abrahán y herederos según la promesa.
