1 Corinthians 12

1 Now concerning spiritual things, I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers.	1 Riguardo ai doni dello Spirito, o fratelli, non voglio che restiate nell'ignoranza.
2 You know that when you were Gentiles, you approached mute idols, doing what you were led to do.	2 Sapete che quando eravate pagani vi lasciavate trasportare verso gli idoli muti secondo l'ispirazione del momento.
3 Because of this, I would have you know that no one speaking in the Spirit of God utters a curse against Jesus. And no one is able to say that Jesus is Lord, except in the Holy Spirit.	3 Perciò vi dichiaro che nessuno, mosso dallo Spirito di Dio, può dire: "Maledizione a Gesù", e nessuno può dire: "Gesù Signore", se non in virtù dello Spirito Santo.
4 Truly, there are diverse graces, but the same Spirit.	4 C'è poi varietà di doni, ma un solo Spirito;
5 And there are diverse ministries, but the same Lord.	5 c'è varietà di ministeri, ma un solo Signore;
6 And there are diverse works, but the same God, who works everything in everyone.	6 c'è varietà di operazioni, ma un solo Dio, che opera tutto in tutti.
7 However, the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one toward what is beneficial.	7 E a ciascuno è data la manifestazione dello Spirito per l'utilità comune:
8 Certainly, to one, through the Spirit, is given words of wisdom; but to another, according to the same Spirit, words of knowledge;	8 a uno viene data, dallo Spirito, parola di sapienza; a un altro, invece, mediante lo stesso Spirito, parola di scienza;
9 to another, in the same Spirit, faith; to another, in the one Spirit, the gift of healing;	9 a uno la fede, per lo stesso Spirito; a un altro il dono delle guarigioni nell'identico Spirito;
10 to another, miraculous works; to another, prophecy; to another, the discernment of spirits; to another, different kinds of languages; to another, the interpretation of words.	10 a uno il potere dei prodigi; a un altro il dono della profezia; a un altro il discernimento degli spiriti; a un altro la varietà delle lingue; a un altro l'interpretazione delle lingue.
11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one according to his will.	11 Ma tutte queste cose le opera il medesimo e identico Spirito, distribuendole a ciascuno come vuole.
12 For just as the body is one, and yet has many parts, so all the parts of the body, though they are many, are only one body. So also is Christ.	12 Come il corpo, pur essendo uno, ha molte membra, e tutte le membra, pur essendo molte, sono un corpo solo, così anche il Cristo.
13 And indeed, in one Spirit, we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether servant or free. And we all drank in the one Spirit.	13 Siamo stati infatti battezzati tutti in un solo Spirito per formare un corpo solo, sia Giudei sia Greci, sia schiavi sia liberi; e tutti siamo stati abbeverati nel medesimo Spirito.
14 For the body, too, is not one part, but many.	14 Ora, il corpo non risulta di un membro solo, ma di molte membra.
15 If the foot were to say, “Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body,” would it then not be of the body?	15 Se il piede dicesse: "Siccome io non sono mano, non appartengo al corpo", non per questo non farebbe parte del corpo.
16 And if the ear were to say, “Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body,” would it then not be of the body?	16 E se l'orecchio dicesse: "Siccome io non sono occhio, non appartengo al corpo", non per questo non farebbe parte del corpo.
17 If the whole body were the eye, how would it hear? If the whole were hearing, how would it smell?	17 Se il corpo fosse tutto occhio, dove sarebbe l'udito? Se fosse tutto udito, dove l'odorato?
18 But instead, God has placed the parts, each one of them, in the body, just as it has pleased him.	18 Ma Dio ha disposto le membra in modo distinto nel corpo, come ha voluto.
19 So if they were all one part, how would it be a body?	19 Che se tutto fosse un membro solo, dove sarebbe il corpo?
20 But instead, there are many parts, indeed, yet one body.	20 Invece molte sono le membra, ma uno solo è il corpo.
21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need for your works.” And again, the head cannot say to the feet, “You are of no use to me.”	21 E l'occhio non può dire alla mano: "Non ho bisogno di te"; né la testa ai piedi: "Non ho bisogno di voi".
22 In fact, so much more necessary are those parts of the body which seem to be weaker.	22 Ché, anzi, quelle membra del corpo che sembrano più deboli sono più necessarie;
23 And though we consider certain parts of the body to be less noble, we surround these with more abundant dignity, and so, those parts which are less presentable end up with more abundant respect.	23 e quelle che riteniamo più ignobili le circondiamo di maggior rispetto, e quelle indecorose ricevono più riguardo,
24 However, our presentable parts have no such need, since God has tempered the body together, distributing the more abundant honor to that which has the need,	24 mentre quelle decorose non ne hanno bisogno. Ma Dio ha contemperato il corpo, conferendo maggiore onore a chi ne mancava,
25 so that there might be no schism in the body, but instead the parts themselves might take care of one another.	25 perché non vi fosse disunione nel corpo, ma le membra cooperassero al bene vicendevole.
26 And so, if one part suffers anything, all the parts suffer with it. Or, if one part finds glory, all the parts rejoice with it.	26 Quindi se un membro soffre, tutte le membra ne soffrono; se un membro è onorato, tutte le membra gioiscono con lui.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and parts like any part.	27 Ora voi siete corpo di Cristo e sue membra, ciascuno in particolare.
28 And indeed, God has established a certain order in the Church: first Apostles, second Prophets, third Teachers, next miracle-workers, and then the grace of healing, of helping others, of governing, of different kinds of languages, and of the interpretation of words.	28 Alcuni sono stati posti da Dio nella Chiesa al primo grado come apostoli, al secondo come profeti, al terzo come dottori; poi vengono i prodigi, poi i doni di guarigione, quelli che hanno il dono dell'assistenza, del governo, delle lingue.
29 Are all Apostles? Are all Prophets? Are all Teachers?	29 Sono forse tutti apostoli? Tutti profeti? Tutti dottori? Tutti operatori di prodigi?
30 Are all workers of miracles? Do all have the grace of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?	30 Tutti possiedono doni di guarigione? Tutti parlano in lingue? Tutti fanno da interpreti?
31 But be zealous for the better charisms. And I reveal to you a yet more excellent way.	31 Voi, però, aspirate ai doni maggiori. Ora io vi addito una via ancora più eccellente.
