Psalms 39

1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David himself.	1 Ao mestre de canto. Salmo de Davi.
2 I have waited expectantly for the Lord, and he was attentive to me.	2 Esperei no Senhor com toda a confiança. Ele se inclinou para mim, ouviu meus brados.
3 And he heard my prayers and he led me out of the pit of misery and the quagmire. And he stationed my feet upon a rock, and he directed my steps.	3 Tirou-me de uma fossa mortal, de um charco de lodo; assentou-me os pés numa rocha, firmou os meus passos;
4 And he sent a new canticle into my mouth, a song to our God. Many will see, and they will fear; and they will hope in the Lord.	4 pôs-me nos lábios um novo cântico, um hino à glória de nosso Deus. Muitos verão essas coisas e prestarão homenagem a Deus, e confiarão no Senhor.
5 Blessed is the man whose hope is in the name of the Lord, and who has no respect for vanities and absurd falsehoods.	5 Feliz o homem que pôs sua esperança no Senhor, e não segue os idólatras nem os apóstatas.
6 You have accomplished your many wonders, O Lord my God, and there is no one similar to you in your thoughts. I have announced and I have spoken: they are multiplied beyond number.	6 Senhor, meu Deus, são maravilhosas as vossas inumeráveis obras e ninguém vos assemelha nos desígnios para conosco. Eu quisera anunciá-los e divulgá-los, mas são mais do que se pode contar.
7 Sacrifice and oblation, you did not want. But you have perfected ears for me. Holocaust and sin offering, you did not require.	7 Não vos comprazeis em nenhum sacrifício, em nenhuma oferenda, mas me abristes os ouvidos: não desejais holocausto nem vítima de expiação.
8 Then I said, “Behold, I draw near.” At the head of the book, it has been written of me:	8 Então, eu disse: “Eis que eu venho. No rolo do livro está escrito de mim:
9 that I should do your will. My God, I have willed it. And your law is in the midst of my heart.	9 fazer vossa vontade, meu Deus, é o que me agrada, porque vossa Lei está no íntimo de meu coração”.
10 I have announced your justice in a great Church: behold, I will not restrain my lips. O Lord, you have known it.	10 Anunciei a justiça na grande assembleia, não cerrei os meus lábios, Senhor, bem o sabeis.
11 I have not concealed your justice within my heart. I have spoken your truth and your salvation. I have not concealed your mercy and your truth from a great assembly.	11 Não escondi vossa justiça no coração, mas proclamei alto vossa fidelidade e vossa salvação. Não ocultei a vossa bondade nem a vossa fidelidade à grande assembleia.
12 O Lord, do not take your tender mercies far from me. Your mercy and your truth ever sustain me.	12 E vós, Senhor, não me recuseis vossas misericórdias; protejam-me sempre vossa graça e vossa fidelidade,
13 For evils without number have surrounded me. My iniquities have taken hold of me, and I was not able to see. They have been multiplied beyond the hairs of my head. And my heart has forsaken me.	13 porque males sem conta me cercaram. Minhas faltas me pesaram, a ponto de não aguentar vê-las; mais numerosas que os cabelos de minha cabeça. Sinto-me desfalecer.
14 Be pleased, O Lord, to rescue me. Look down, O Lord, to help me.	14 Comprazei-vos, Senhor, em me livrar. Depressa, Senhor, vinde em meu auxílio.
15 Let them together be confounded and awed, who seek after my soul to steal it away. Let them be turned back and be in awe, who wish evils upon me.	15 Sejam confundidos e humilhados os que procuram arrebatar-me a vida. Recuem e corem de vergonha os que se comprazem com meus males.
16 Let them bear their confusion all at once, who say to me, “Well, well.”	16 Fiquem atônitos, cheios de confusão, os que me dizem: “Bem feito! Bem feito”!.
17 Let all who seek you exult and rejoice over you. And let those who love your salvation always say, “May the Lord be magnified.”	17 Ao contrário, exultem e se alegrem em vós todos os que vos procuram; digam sem cessar aqueles que desejam vosso auxílio: “Glória ao Senhor”.
18 But I am a beggar and poor. The Lord has been concerned about me. You are my helper and my protector. My God, do not delay.	18 Quanto a mim, sou pobre e desvalido, mas o Senhor vela por mim. Sois meu protetor e libertador: ó meu Deus, não tardeis.
