Job 16

1 Then Job, answering, said:	1 Allora Giobbe rispose:
2 I have often heard such things; you are all aggravating comforters.	2 "Ho sentito molti discorsi come questi; tutti voi siete consolatori importuni.
3 Will there be no end to windy words? Or is it at all a burden to you, if you speak?	3 Non c'è un limite per i discorsi vuoti? O che cosa ti costringe a rispondere ancora?
4 I, too, can speak like you; and I also wish that your soul favored my soul.	4 Ora anch'io potrei parlare come voi, se foste al mio posto; moltiplicherei i discorsi contro di voi, scuotendo contro di voi il mio capo.
5 I would also comfort you with speeches and would wag my head over you.	5 Vi darei forza con la mia bocca, vi calmerei muovendo le labbra.
6 I would strengthen you with my mouth, and would move my lips, as if being lenient to you.	6 Se parlo, non cessa il mio dolore; se taccio, esso non si allontana da me.
7 But what can I do? When I am speaking, my grief will not be quiet; and if I am quiet, it will not withdraw from me.	7 Ora però, egli mi ha spossato, fiaccato, la sua guardia mi ha preso.
8 But now my grief has crushed me, and all my limbs have been reduced to nothing.	8 E' insorto a testimoniare contro di me; il mio calunniatore depone contro di me.
9 My wrinkles bear witness against me, and a liar rises up against my face, contradicting me.	9 Il suo furore mi dilania e mi perseguita, digrigna i denti contro di me; il mio avversario aguzza contro di me gli occhi.
10 He has gathered together his fury towards me, and, threatening me, he has roared against me with his teeth; my enemy has beheld me with terrible eyes.	10 Spalancano contro di me la bocca, con ingiurie mi percuotono le guance, assieme si accalcano contro di me.
11 They have opened their mouths against me, and, reproaching me, they have struck me on the cheek; they are nourished by my sufferings.	11 Dio mi consegna ai malvagi, mi getta nelle mani degli scellerati.
12 God has confined me with the immoral, and he has delivered me into the hands of the impious.	12 Vivevo tranquillo ed egli mi ha rovinato; mi ha afferrato per il collo e mi ha stritolato, ha fatto di me il suo bersaglio.
13 I, who once was wealthy, am now crushed. He has grabbed me by my neck; he has broken me and has place me before him as a sign.	13 I suoi dardi mi circondano da ogni parte, mi trafigge i fianchi senza pietà e versa a terra il mio fiele.
14 He has surrounded me with his lances. He has severely wounded my lower back, he has not been lenient, and he has poured out my organs upon the earth.	14 Mi apre ferita su ferita, mi assale come un guerriero.
15 He has cut me with wound after wound. He has rushed upon me like a giant.	15 Ho cucito un sacco sulla mia pelle e ho prostrato la fronte nella polvere.
16 I have sewn sackcloth over my skin, and I have covered my body with ashes.	16 La mia faccia è rossa per il pianto e l'ombra mi vela le pupille.
17 My face is swollen from weeping, and my eyelids have dimmed my vision.	17 Eppure non c'è violenza nelle mie mani e la mia preghiera è sincera.
18 These things I have endured without iniquity in my hand, while I held pure prayers before God.	18 O terra, non coprire il mio sangue, e il mio grido non abbia sosta!
19 O earth, do not conceal my blood, nor let my outcry find a hiding place in you.	19 Ma ecco, sin d'ora il mio testimone è nei cieli, il mio difensore è lassù in alto,
20 For behold, my witness is in heaven, and my confidante is on high.	20 colui che interpreta i miei sentimenti presso Dio! Verso di lui alzo i miei occhi piangenti.
21 My friends are full of words; my eye rains tears upon God.	21 Egli sia arbitro fra l'uomo e Dio, come tra un uomo e il suo avversario.
22 And I wish that a man might be so judged before God, just as the son of man is judged with his assistant!	22 Perché passano i miei anni contati e io intraprenderò il viaggio senza ritorno.
23 For behold, a few years pass by, and I am walking a path by which I will not return.
