NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 The ark of Yahweh was in Philistine territory for seven months.	1 Die Lade des Herrn war sieben Monate lang im Gebiet der Philister.
2 The Philistines then cal ed for their priests and diviners and asked, 'What shall we do with the ark ofYahweh? Tel us how to send it back to where it belongs.'	2 Dann riefen die Philister ihre Priester und Wahrsager herbei und fragten sie: Was sollen wir mit der Lade des Herrn machen? Gebt uns Auskunft, auf welche Weise wir sie an den Ort zurückschicken sollen, an den sie gehört.
3 They replied, 'If you send the ark of the God of Israel away, you must certainly not send it away withouta gift; you must pay him a guilt offering. You wil then recover and wil realise why he continual y oppressed you.'	3 Sie antworteten: Wenn ihr die Lade des Gottes Israels zurückschickt, dann schickt sie nicht ohne Gabe zurück! Ihr müsst vielmehr ein Sühnegeschenk entrichten. Dann werdet ihr Heilung finden und ihr werdet erkennen, warum seine Hand nicht von euch ablässt.
4 They then asked, 'What guilt offering ought we to pay him?' They replied, 'Corresponding to the numberof Philistine chiefs: five golden tumours and five golden rats, since the same plague afflicted your chiefs as therest of you.	4 Sie fragten weiter: Was für ein Sühnegeschenk sollen wir ihm entrichten? Sie antworteten: Fünf goldene Beulen und fünf goldene Mäuse, entsprechend der Zahl der Philisterfürsten; denn alle hat die gleiche Plage getroffen, auch eure Fürsten.
5 So make models of your tumours and models of your rats ravaging the territory, and pay honour to theGod of Israel. Then perhaps he wil stop oppressing you, your gods and your country.	5 Macht also Abbilder eurer Pestbeulen und der Mäuse, die euer Land verwüsten, und gebt dem Gott Israels die Ehre! Vielleicht lässt er seine Hand leichter werden über euch, eurem Gott und eurem Land.
6 Why should you be as stubborn as Egypt and Pharaoh were? After he had brought disasters on them,did they not let the people leave?	6 Warum wollt ihr euer Herz verhärten, wie die Ägypter und der Pharao ihr Herz verhärtet haben? Sie mussten doch auch die Israeliten, nachdem sie sie übel behandelt hatten, entlassen und diese konnten fortgehen.
7 Now, then, take and fit out a new cart, and two milch cows that have never borne the yoke. Thenharness the cows to the cart and take their calves back to the byre.	7 Macht also jetzt einen neuen Wagen; holt zwei säugende Kühe, auf die noch kein Joch gelegt worden ist, und spannt die Kühe vor den Wagen; ihre Kälber aber nehmt ihnen weg und bringt sie nach Hause!
8 Then take the ark of Yahweh, place it on the cart, and put the golden objects which you are paying himas guilt offering in a box beside it; and then send it off on its own.	8 Dann nehmt die Lade des Herrn und stellt sie auf den Wagen und legt daneben in einer Tasche die goldenen Gegenstände, die ihr ihm als Sühnegabe entrichten wollt; dann lasst sie fortziehen!
9 Watch it; if it goes up the road to its own territory, towards Beth-Shemesh, then he was responsible forthis great harm to us; but if not, we shal know that it was not his hand that struck us, and that this has happenedto us by chance.'	9 Gebt aber acht: Wenn die Lade in Richtung Bet-Schemesch, also in ihr Gebiet hinaufzieht, dann war er es, der uns dieses große Unheil zugefügt hat; wenn nicht, dann wissen wir, dass nicht seine Hand uns getroffen hat, sondern dass es ein Zufall gewesen ist.
10 The people did this. They took two milch cows and harnessed them to the cart, shutting their calves inthe byre.	10 Die Leute machten es so. Sie nahmen zwei säugende Kühe und spannten sie an den Wagen; ihre Kälber aber hielten sie zu Hause zurück.
11 They then put the ark of Yahweh on the cart, with the box and the golden rats and the models of theirtumours.	11 Sie stellten die Lade des Herrn auf den Wagen und auch die Tasche mit den goldenen Mäusen und den Abbildern ihrer Geschwüre.
12 The cows made straight for Beth-Shemesh, keeping to the one road, lowing as they went and turningneither to right nor to left. The Philistine chiefs followed them as far as the boundaries of Beth-Shemesh.	12 Die Kühe aber gingen geradewegs in Richtung Bet-Schemesch; sie folgten genau der Straße, wichen weder nach rechts noch nach links ab und brüllten immerzu. Die Fürsten der Philister folgten ihnen bis zur Grenze von Bet-Schemesch.
13 The people of Beth-Shemesh were reaping the wheat harvest in the plain when they looked up andsaw the ark and went joyful y to meet it.	13 Die Leute von Bet- Schemesch waren gerade im Tal bei der Weizenernte. Als sie aufblickten und die Lade sahen, freuten sie sich sehr darüber.
14 When the cart came to the field of Joshua of Beth-Shemesh, it stopped. There was a large stonethere, and they cut up the wood of the cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering to Yahweh.	14 Als der Wagen bis zum Feld Joschuas von Bet-Schemesch gekommen war, blieb er stehen. Dort lag ein großer Stein. Sie spalteten das Holz des Wagens und brachten die Kühe dem Herrn als Brandopfer dar.
15 The Levites had taken down the ark of Yahweh and the box with it containing the golden objects andput these on the large stone. That day the people of Beth-Shemesh presented burnt offerings and madesacrifices to Yahweh.	15 [Die Leviten hatten die Lade des Herrn und die Tasche, die neben ihr stand und in der goldene Gegenstände waren, herabgehoben und auf den großen Stein gestellt. Die Männer von Bet-Schemesch brachten an jenem Tag dem Herrn Brandopfer und Schlachtopfer dar.]
16 The five chiefs of the Philistines, having witnessed this, went back to Ekron the same day.	16 Die fünf Fürsten der Philister sahen zu; dann kehrten sie am gleichen Tag nach Ekron zurück.
17 The golden tumours paid by the Philistines as a guilt offering to Yahweh were as fol ows: one forAshdod, one for Gaza, one for Ashkelon, one for Gath, one for Ekron;	17 Das sind die goldenen Geschwüre, die die Philister dem Herrn als Sühnegabe entrichtet haben: eines für Aschdod, eines für Gaza, eines für Aschkelon, eines für Gat, eines für Ekron,
18 and golden rats to the number of al the Philistine towns, those of the five chiefs, from fortified townsdown to open villages: stil to this day the large stone in the field of Joshua of Beth-Shemesh, on which they putthe ark of Yahweh, is a witness.	18 dazu die goldenen Mäuse entsprechend der Zahl der Philisterstädte unter den fünf Fürsten, von der befestigten Stadt bis zum offenen Dorf. Der große Stein, auf den man die Lade des Herrn gestellt hatte, liegt noch bis zum heutigen Tag auf dem Feld des Joschua aus Bet- Schemesch.
19 Of the people of Beth-Shemesh the sons of Jeconiah had not rejoiced when they saw the ark ofYahweh, and Yahweh struck down seventy of them. The people mourned because Yahweh had struck them sofiercely.	19 Der Herr aber strafte die Leute von Bet-Schemesch, weil sie die Lade des Herrn angeschaut hatten. Er erschlug aus dem Volk siebzig Mann [fünfzigtausend Mann]. Da trauerte das Volk, weil der Herr einen so schweren Schlag gegen das Volk geführt hatte.
20 The people of Beth-Shemesh then said, 'Who can stand his ground before Yahweh, this holy God? Towhom shal he go, so that we are rid of him?'	20 Die Männer von Bet- Schemesch sagten: Wer kann vor dem Herrn, diesem heiligen Gott, bestehen? Und zu wem soll er von uns aus hinaufziehen?
21 So they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath-Jearim, to say, 'The Philistines have sent backthe ark of Yahweh; come down and take it up to your town.'	21 Sie schickten Boten zu den Einwohnern von Kirjat-Jearim und ließen sagen: Die Philister haben die Lade des Herrn zurückgebracht. Kommt herab und holt sie zu euch hinauf!
