NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 When the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.	1 Los filisteos, por su parte, tomaron el arca de Dios y la llevaron de Eben Haézer a Asdod.
2 Taking the ark of God, the Philistines put it in the temple of Dagon, setting it down beside Dagon.	2 Tomaron los filisteos el arca de Dios, la introdujeron en el templo de Dagón y la colocaron al lado de Dagón.
3 When the people of Ashdod got up the fol owing morning and went to the temple of Dagon, there layDagon face down on the ground before the ark of Yahweh. They picked Dagon up and put him back in his place.	3 A la mañana siguiente vinieron los asdodeos al templo de Dagón y he aquí que Dagón estaba caído de bruces en tierra, delante del arca de Yahveh. Levantaron a Dagón y le volvieron a su sitio.
4 But when they got up on the fol owing morning, there lay Dagon face down on the ground before the arkof Yahweh, and Dagon's head and two hands lay severed on the threshold; only the trunk of Dagon was left inits place.	4 Pero a la mañana siguiente temprano, Dagón estaba caído de bruces en tierra, delante del arca de Yahveh y la cabeza de Dagón y sus dos manos estaban rotas en el umbral; sólo quedaba el tronco de Dagón.
5 This is why the priests of Dagon and the people frequenting Dagon's temple never step on Dagon'sthreshold in Ashdod, even today.	5 Por eso los sacerdotes de Dagón y todos los que entran en el templo de Dagón no pisan el umbral de Dagón en Asdod hasta el día de hoy.
6 Yahweh oppressed the people of Ashdod; he ravaged them and afflicted them with tumours -- Ashdodand its territory. When the people of Ashdod saw what was happening they said,	6 La mano de Yahveh cayó pesadamente sobre los asdodeos hiriéndolos con tumores, a Asdod y su comarca.
7 'The ark of the God of Israel must not stay here with us, for he is oppressing us and our god Dagon.'	7 Cuando los vecinos de Asdod vieron lo que sucedía, dijeron: «Que no se quede entre nosotros el arca del Dios de Israel, porque su mano se ha endurecido contra nosotros y contra nuestro dios Dagón».
8 So they summoned al the Philistine chiefs to them, and said, 'What shal we do with the ark of the Godof Israel?' They decided, 'The ark of the God of Israel shal be taken away to Gath.' So they took the ark of theGod of Israel to Gath.	8 Hicieron, pues, convocar junto a ellos a todos los tiranos de los filisteos y dijeron: «¿Qué debemos hacer con el arca del Dios de Israel?» Decidieron: «El arca del Dios de Israel se trasladará a Gat». Y trasladaron allí el arca del Dios de Israel.
9 But after they had taken it there, Yahweh oppressed that town and a great panic broke out; afflicting thepeople of the town from highest to lowest, he brought them out in tumours too.	9 Pero así que la trasladaron, la mano de Yahveh cayó sobre la ciudad provocando gran terror; los varones de la ciudad, desde el más pequeño hasta el mayor, fueron castigados, saliéndoles tumores.
10 They then sent the ark of God to Ekron, but when it came to Ekron the Ekronites shouted, 'They havebrought me the ark of the God of Israel to kil me and my people!'	10 Enviaron entonces el arca de Dios a Ecrón, exclamaron los ecronitas: Han encaminado hacia mí el arca del Dios de Israel para hacerme perecer con mi pueblo».
11 They summoned al the Philistine chiefs and said, 'Send the ark of the God of Israel away; let it goback to where it belongs and not kill me and my people' -- for there was mortal panic throughout the town; Godwas oppressing them.	11 Hicieron convocar a todos los tiranos de los filisteos y dijeron: «Devolved el arca del Dios de Israel; que vuelva a su sitio y no me haga morir a mí y a mi pueblo». Pues había un terror mortal en toda la ciudad, porque descargó allí duramente la mano de Dios.
12 The people who did not die were afflicted with tumours, and the wailing from the town rose to the sky.	12 Los que no murieron fueron atacados de tumores y los alaridos de angustia de la ciudad subieron hasta el cielo.
