NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 In those days there was no king in Israel. Now in those days the tribe of Dan was in search of aterritory to live in, for until then no territory had fallen to them among the tribes of Israel.	1 Damals gab es noch keinen König in Israel. Der Stamm der Daniter war zu jener Zeit dabei, sich einen Erbbesitz zu suchen, um sich niederzulassen; denn es war ihm inmitten der Stämme Israels bis zu jener Zeit noch kein Erbbesitz zugefallen.
2 From their clan the Danites sent five brave men from Zorah and Eshtaol to reconnoitre the country andexplore it. They said to them, 'Go and explore the country.' The five men came to the highlands of Ephraim, asfar as Micah's house, and spent the night there.	2 Daher schickten die Daniter von ihrer Sippe fünf kampferprobte Männer aus Zora und Eschtaol aus, um das Land zu durchstreifen und zu erkunden. Sie sagten zu ihnen: Geht, erkundet das Land! Die Männer kamen ins Gebirge Efraim zum Haus Michas und übernachteten dort.
3 When they were near Micah's house, they recognised the voice of the young Levite and, going nearer,said to him, 'Who brought you here? What are you doing here? What is keeping you here?'	3 Als sie beim Haus Michas waren, fiel ihnen die Mundart des jungen Leviten auf. Sie gingen zu ihm hin und fragten ihn: Wer hat dich hierher gebracht? Was willst du hier und was tust du hier?
4 He replied, 'Micah has made certain arrangements with me. He pays me a wage and I act as hispriest.'	4 Er antwortete ihnen: Das und das hat Micha mit mir gemacht; er hat mich angestellt und so wurde ich sein Priester.
5 They replied, 'Then consult God, so that we may know whether the journey we are on wil lead tosuccess.'	5 Sie sagten zu ihm: Befrag doch Gott für uns, damit wir erfahren, ob die Reise, die wir machen, Erfolg haben wird.
6 The priest replied, 'Go in peace; Yahweh is watching over your journey.'	6 Der Priester erwiderte ihnen: Zieht in Frieden weiter! Der Weg, den ihr gehen wollt, liegt vor den Augen des Herrn.
7 The five men then left and, arriving at Laish, saw that the people living there had an untroubledexistence, according to the customs of the Sidonians, peaceful and trusting, that there was no lack or shortageof any sort in the territory, that they were a long way away from the Sidonians and that they had no contact withthe Aramaeans.	7 Die fünf Männer zogen weiter und kamen nach Lajisch. Sie sahen, dass das Volk dort ungestört nach Art der Sidonier lebte, ruhig und sicher. Es gab niemand, der Schaden anrichtete im Land, keinen Eroberer und keine Unterdrückung. Sie waren weit entfernt von den Sidoniern und hatten auch mit den Aramäern nichts zu tun.
8 They then went back to their brothers at Zorah and Eshtaol and, when the latter asked them, 'Whathave you to report?'	8 Als die Männer zu ihren Brüdern nach Zora und Eschtaol kamen, sagten ihre Brüder zu ihnen: Wie ist es euch ergangen?
9 they said, 'Up! we must go against them, since we have looked at the country and it is excellent,though you take no action! Waste no time in setting out and taking possession of the country.	9 Sie antworteten: Auf, lasst uns gegen jene Leute (in den Kampf) ziehen. Denn wir haben gesehen, dass das Land sehr schön ist. Warum wollt ihr zögern? Seid nicht so träge! Macht euch auf den Weg dorthin und nehmt das Land in Besitz!
10 When you get there, you wil find a trusting people. The country is wide, and God has put it at yourmercy. It is a place where there is no lack of anything on earth.'	10 Ihr findet ein sorgloses Volk vor, wenn ihr hinkommt. Das Land ist nach allen Seiten hin weiträumig. Wahrhaftig, Gott hat es in eure Gewalt gegeben. Es ist ein Ort, wo es an nichts fehlt, was es auf Erden gibt.
11 From these places, consequently, from the clan of Danites at Zorah and Eshtaol, six hundred men setout equipped for war.	11 Darauf brachen von dort, also von Zora und Eschtaol aus, sechshundert mit Waffen ausgerüstete Männer aus der Sippe der Daniter auf.
12 They went up and camped at Kiriath-Jearim in Judah; and for this reason the place is stil cal ed theCamp of Dan today. It lies to the west of Kiriath-Jearim.	12 Sie zogen hinauf und schlugen bei Kirjat-Jearim in Juda ihr Lager auf; deshalb nennt man diesen Ort bis auf den heutigen Tag «Lager Dans»; es liegt hinter Kirjat-Jearim.
13 From there they entered the highlands of Ephraim and came to Micah's house.	13 Von dort zogen sie hinüber ins Gebirge Efraim und kamen zum Haus Michas.
14 The five men who had been to reconnoitre the country then spoke to their brothers. 'Do you know',they said, 'that in these houses there is an ephod, some domestic images, a carved statue and an idol cast inmetal? So now work out what you have got to do!'	14 Da sagten die fünf Männer, die unterwegs gewesen waren, um das Land [Lajisch] zu erkunden, zu ihren Brüdern: Wisst ihr auch, dass es in diesen Häusern ein Efod und Terafim sowie ein mit Metall überzogenes Gottesbild gibt? Überlegt also, was ihr tun wollt.
15 So, turning off the road, they went to the young Levite's dwelling, to Micah's house, and greeted himpeaceful y.	15 Da bogen sie (von ihrem Weg) ab und gingen zum Haus des jungen Leviten [zum Haus Michas] und begrüßten ihn.
16 While the six hundred men of the Danites, equipped for war, stood at the threshold of the gate,	16 Die sechshundert mit Waffen ausgerüsteten Daniter blieben am Hoftor stehen,
17 the five who had been to reconnoitre the country went on into the house and took the carved statue,the ephod, the domestic images and the idol cast in metal; meanwhile the priest remained at the threshold of thegate with the six hundred men equipped for war.	17 während die fünf Männer, die unterwegs gewesen waren, um das Land zu erkunden, hineingingen. Sie nahmen das Gottesbild mit dem Metallüberzug sowie das Efod und die Terafim, während der Priester am Eingang des Tores bei den sechshundert mit Waffen ausgerüsteten Männern stand.
18 These men, having entered Micah's house, took the carved statue, the ephod, the domestic imagesand the idol cast in metal. The priest, however, said, 'What are you doing?'	18 Als die Leute in das Haus Michas eindrangen und das Gottesbild mit dem Metallüberzug, das Efod und die Terafim nahmen, fragte sie der Priester: Was macht ihr da?
19 'Be quiet,' they replied. 'Put your hand over your mouth and come with us, and become our father andpriest. Are you better off as domestic priest to one man, or as priest to a tribe and clan in Israel?'	19 Sie antworteten ihm: Schweig! Halt den Mund! Geh mit uns und werde uns Vater und Priester! Was ist besser - wenn du Priester im Haus eines einzigen Mannes bist oder wenn du Priester für einen Stamm und eine Sippe in Israel bist?
20 The priest was delighted; he took the ephod, the domestic images and the carved statue, and wentoff among the people.	20 Das erschien dem Priester gut. Er nahm das Efod, die Terafim und das Gottesbild und begab sich damit unter die Leute.
21 Resuming their original line of march, they set off, having put the women, children, livestock andbaggage out in front.	21 Dann brachen sie auf und zogen weiter. Die Kinder, das Vieh und die Habe führten sie an der Spitze des Zuges mit sich.
22 They had gone some distance from Micah's house, when the people living in the houses near Micah'shouse raised the alarm and set off in pursuit of the Danites.	22 Als sie schon weit vom Haus Michas weg waren, rief Micha die Männer in den Häusern, die in der Nähe lagen, zusammen und sie verfolgten die Daniter.
23 As they shouted after the Danites, the latter, turning about, said to Micah, 'What is the matter withyou, that you are shouting like this?'	23 Sie riefen hinter den Danitern her, diese aber wandten sich um und sagten zu Micha: Was ist los? Warum habt ihr euch zusammengetan?
24 He replied, 'You have taken away my god, which I have had made, and the priest as wel . You aregoing away, and what have I got left? And now you ask me, "What is the matter?" '	24 Er antwortete: Ihr habt meinen Gott, den ich mir gemacht hatte, und auch den Priester weggenommen und seid davongezogen. Was habe ich jetzt noch? Wie könnt ihr da zu mir sagen: Was ist los?
25 The Danites said, 'Let us hear no more from you, or quick-tempered men may set about you, and thismight cost you your life and the lives of your family!'	25 Die Daniter entgegneten ihm: Lass dein Geschwätz, sonst fallen unsere erbitterten Leute über euch her und du bist selbst schuld, wenn du zusammen mit deiner Familie das Leben verlierst.
26 So the Danites went on their way; and Micah, seeing that they were the stronger, turned and wenthome.	26 Dann zogen die Daniter auf ihrem Weg weiter. Micha aber sah ein, dass sie stärker waren als er, kehrte um und ging nach Hause zurück.
27 So, having taken the god made by Micah, and the priest who had been his, the Danites marched onLaish, on a peaceful and trusting people. They put it to the sword and they burned down the town.	27 Sie aber nahmen das Bild, das Micha angefertigt hatte, samt dem Priester, den er hatte, und überfielen Lajisch, ein ruhiges und friedliches Volk. Sie erschlugen die Leute mit scharfem Schwert und steckten die Stadt in Brand.
28 There was no one to come to the rescue, since it was a long way from Sidon and had no contact withthe Aramaeans. It lay in the valley running towards Beth-Rehob. They rebuilt the town and settled in it	28 Niemand konnte zu Hilfe kommen; denn die Stadt lag weit entfernt von Sidon und hatte auch mit den Aramäern nichts zu tun; sie lag im Tal von Bet-Rehob. Die Daniter bauten die Stadt wieder auf und wohnten in ihr.
29 and cal ed it Dan, from the name of Dan their ancestor who had been born to Israel; original y,however, the town had been called Laish.	29 Sie nannten sie Dan, nach dem Namen ihres Stammvaters Dan, der einst dem Israel geboren worden war. Doch früher hatte die Stadt den Namen Lajisch.
30 The Danites erected the carved statue for themselves. Jonathan son of Gershom, son of Moses, andhis sons after him were priests for the tribe of Dan til the day when the inhabitants of the country were carriedaway into exile.	30 Die Daniter stellten das Gottesbild bei sich auf und Jonatan, der Sohn Gerschoms, des Sohnes des Mose, und seine Nachkommen dienten dem Stamm der Daniter als Priester bis zu dem Tag, an dem die Bewohner des Landes in die Gefangenschaft geführt wurden.
31 The carved statue made by Micah they instal ed for their own use, and there it stayed as long as thehouse of God remained at Shiloh.	31 Sie hatten also das Gottesbild, das Micha gemacht hatte, bei sich aufgestellt und (es stand dort) die ganze Zeit über, solange es das Gotteshaus in Schilo gab.
