1 Timothy 4

1 The Spirit has explicitly said that during the last times some wil desert the faith and pay attention todeceitful spirits and doctrines that come from devils,	1 Ma lo Spirito dice apertamente che negli ultimi tempi alcuni apostateranno dalla fede, per dar retta agli spiriti ingannatori e alle dottrine dei demoni,
2 seduced by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are branded as though with a red-hot iron:	2 ipocritamente mentitori, turpemente macchiati nella coscienza;
3 they forbid marriage and prohibit foods which God created to be accepted with thanksgiving by all whobelieve and who know the truth.	3 che vietano le nozze e vogliono l'astensione dai cibi, creati da Dio per essere usati con azioni di grazie dai fedeli e da coloro che hanno conosciuta la verità;
4 Everything God has created is good, and no food is to be rejected, provided it is received withthanksgiving:	4 perchè tutto quello che Dio ha creato è buono e nessuna cosa è da rigettare, se presa con azioni di grazie,
5 the word of God and prayer make it holy.	5 essendo santificata dalla parola di Dio e dall'orazione.
6 If you put al this to the brothers, you wil be a good servant of Christ Jesus and show that you havereal y digested the teaching of the faith and the good doctrine which you have always fol owed.	6 Se proporrai queste cose ai fratelli, sarai buon ministro di Cristo Gesù nutrito delle parole della fede e della buona dottrina che tu hai ricevuta.
7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself for religion.	7 Ma rigetta le profane favole da vecchierelle, ed esercitati invece nella pietà;
8 Physical exercise is useful enough, but the usefulness of religion is unlimited, since it holds out promiseboth for life here and now and for the life to come;	8 perchè l'esercizio corporale serve a poco, ma la pietà è utile a tutto, avendo la promessa della vita presente e della futura.
9 that is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt it.	9 Questa è una verità certa e degna d'essere accettata,
10 I mean that the point of al our toiling and battling is that we have put our trust in the living God and heis the Saviour of the whole human race but particularly of al believers.	10 ed è per questo che ci affatichiamo e lottiamo, perchè abbiamo riposta la nostra speranza in Dio vivo, che è salvatore di tutti gli uomini, massime dei fedeli.
11 This is what you are to instruct and teach.	11 Annunzia queste cose e insegnale.
12 Let no one disregard you because you are young, but be an example to al the believers in the way youspeak and behave, and in your love, your faith and your purity.	12 Nessuno disprezzi la tua giovinezza, ma tu sii il modello dei fedeli nel parlare, nel conversare, nella carità, nella fede, nella castità.
13 Until I arrive, devote yourself to reading to the people, encouraging and teaching.	13 Sino a che non vengo, attendi alla lettura, all'esortazione, all'insegnamento.
14 You have in you a spiritual gift which was given to you when the prophets spoke and the body of elderslaid their hands on you; do not neglect it.	14 Non trascurare la grazia che è in te, e che ti fu data in virtù d'una profezia, coll'imposizione delle mani degli anziani.
15 Let this be your care and your occupation, and everyone wil be able to see your progress.	15 Medita queste cose, vivi in esse, affinchè il tuo progresso sia palese a tutti.
16 Be conscientious about what you do and what you teach; persevere in this, and in this way you wilsave both yourself and those who listen to you.	16 Attendi a te e all'insegnamento e persevera in queste cose, perchè facendo così tu salverai te stesso e quelli che ti ascoltano.
