1 Timothy 4

1 The Spirit has explicitly said that during the last times some wil desert the faith and pay attention todeceitful spirits and doctrines that come from devils,	1 El Espíritu dice claramente que en los últimos tiempos algunos apostatarán de la fe entregándose a espíritus engañadores y a doctrinas diabólicas,
2 seduced by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are branded as though with a red-hot iron:	2 por la hipocresía de embaucadores que tienen marcada a fuego su propia conciencia;
3 they forbid marriage and prohibit foods which God created to be accepted with thanksgiving by all whobelieve and who know the truth.	3 éstos prohíben el matrimonio y el uso de alimentos que Dios creó para que fueran comidos con acción de gracias por los creyentes y por los que han conocido la verdad.
4 Everything God has created is good, and no food is to be rejected, provided it is received withthanksgiving:	4 Porque todo lo que Dios ha creado es bueno y no se ha de rechazar ningún alimento que se coma con acción de gracias;
5 the word of God and prayer make it holy.	5 pues queda santificado por la Palabra de Dios y por la oración.
6 If you put al this to the brothers, you wil be a good servant of Christ Jesus and show that you havereal y digested the teaching of the faith and the good doctrine which you have always fol owed.	6 Su tú enseñas estas cosas a los hermanos, serás un buen ministro de Cristo Jesús, alimentado con las palabras de la fe y de la buena doctrina que has seguido fielmente.
7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself for religion.	7 Rechaza, en cambio, las fábulas profanas y los cuentos de viejas. Ejercítate en la piedad.
8 Physical exercise is useful enough, but the usefulness of religion is unlimited, since it holds out promiseboth for life here and now and for the life to come;	8 Los ejercicios corporales sirven para poco; en cambio la piedad es provechosa para todo, pues tiene la promesa de la vida, de la presente y de la futura.
9 that is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt it.	9 Es cierta y digna de ser aceptada por todos esta afirmación:
10 I mean that the point of al our toiling and battling is that we have put our trust in the living God and heis the Saviour of the whole human race but particularly of al believers.	10 Si nos fatigamos y luchamos es porque tenemos puesta la esperanza en Dios vivo, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, principalmente de los creyentes.
11 This is what you are to instruct and teach.	11 Predica y enseña estas cosas.
12 Let no one disregard you because you are young, but be an example to al the believers in the way youspeak and behave, and in your love, your faith and your purity.	12 Que nadie menosprecie tu juventud. Procura, en cambio, ser para los creyentes modelo en la palabra, en el comportamiento, en la caridad, en la fe, en la pureza.
13 Until I arrive, devote yourself to reading to the people, encouraging and teaching.	13 Hasta que yo llegue, dedícate a la lectura, a la exhortación, a la enseñanza.
14 You have in you a spiritual gift which was given to you when the prophets spoke and the body of elderslaid their hands on you; do not neglect it.	14 No descuides el carisma que hay en ti, que se te comunicó por intervención profética mediante la imposición de las manos del colegio de presbíteros.
15 Let this be your care and your occupation, and everyone wil be able to see your progress.	15 Ocúpate en estas cosas; vive entregado a ellas para que tu aprovechamiento sea manifiesto a todos.
16 Be conscientious about what you do and what you teach; persevere in this, and in this way you wilsave both yourself and those who listen to you.	16 Vela por ti mismo y por la enseñanza; persevera en estas disposiciones, pues obrando así te salvarás a ti mismo y a los que te escuchen.
