1 The whole community of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh, and the Tent of Meeting was set up there;the whole country had been subdued for them.	1 E si raunarono tutti i figliuoli d'Israele a Silo, e ivi alzarono il tabernacolo del testimonio, e il paese era ad essi soggetto.
2 But among the Israelites there were still seven tribes left who had not received their heritage.	2 Ma vi restavano sette tribù de' figliuoli d'Israele, le quali non avevano ancora avuta la loro porzione.
3 Joshua then said to the Israelites, 'How much more time are you going to waste before you go andtake possession of the country which Yahweh, God of your ancestors, has given to you?	3 Alle quali disse Giosuè: Fino a quando marcirete voi nell'ozio senza entrare al possesso della terra data a voi dal Signore Dio de' padri vostri?
4 Choose three men from each tribe for me to send al over the country so that they can make a surveywith a view to their inheritances and then come back to me.	4 Scegliete tre persone da ogni tribù, perchè io le mandi a fare il giro della terra, e ne facciano la descrizione secondo il numero della gente: e ne riferiscano a me la loro descrizione.
5 They wil divide the country into seven portions. Judah wil remain in his territory in the south, andthose of the House of Joseph wil remain in their territory in the north.	5 Spartite tra voi la terra in sette parti: Giuda rimanga dentro i suoi confini dalla parte di mezzodì, e la casa di Giuseppe da settentrione.
6 You must survey the country in seven sections and bring your findings to me here, so that I can castlots for you here, in the presence of Yahweh our God.	6 La terra che è di mezzo tra questi, dividetela in sette parti: e venite a me, affinchè io ve la tiri a sorte qui dinanzi al Signore Dio vostro:
7 The Levites, however, wil have no portion with the rest of you; the priesthood of Yahweh wil be theirheritage. As regards Gad and Reuben and the half-tribe of Manasseh, they have received their heritage on thefurther, eastern side of the Jordan, the one given them by Moses, servant of Yahweh.'	7 Perocché non han tra voi porzione alcuna i Leviti, ma loro retaggio egli è il sacerdozio del Signore. Gad poi, e Ruben, e mezza la tribù di Manasse han già avute le loro porzioni di là dal Giordano a levante, le quali furon date loro da Mosè servo del Signore.
8 The men stood up and set off. To those who were to survey the country Joshua gave this order, 'Startout, then, go al over the country, survey it, and then come back to me; and I shal cast lots for you here, in thepresence of Yahweh, at Shiloh.'	8 E quando furon pronti quegli uomini per andare a fare la descrizione della terra, Giosuè ordinò, e disse loro: Fate il giro della terra, e misuratela, e tornate a me, affinchè qui in Silo dinanzi al Signore io la tiri a sorte.
9 The men left, went al over the country and surveyed it by towns, in seven sections, writing down theirfindings in a book, and then went back to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh.	9 Quegli adunque andarono: e visitata a parte a parte la terra, la divisero in sette parti, facendone il catasto in un libro. E tornarono a Giosuè negli alloggiamenti di Silo.
10 Joshua cast lots for them in Yahweh's presence at Shiloh, and there Joshua divided the countrybetween the Israelites, share by share.	10 Il quale tirolla a sorte in Silo dinanzi al Signore, e divise la terra a' figliuoli d'Israele in sette parti.
11 A portion fell first to the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans: the territory of their portion laybetween the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.	11 La prima a uscire a sorte fu la tribù di Beniamin distinta nelle sue famiglie, la quale ebbe sua porzione tra i figliuoli di Giuda, e i figliuoli di Giuseppe.
12 Their northern frontier began at the Jordan, went up the flank of Jericho to the north, climbedwestwards through the highlands and came out at the desert of Beth-Aven.	12 E i loro confini da settentrione furono al Giordano: e si stesero al lato settentrionale di Gerico, e di lì salgono alla montagna: e arrivano fino al deserto di Bethaven,
13 Thence, the frontier went on to Luz, on the southern flank of Luz -- now Bethel-and then down toAtaroth-Arach, on the mountain south of Lower Beth-Horon.	13 E passano a mezzo giorno vicino a Luza detta anche Bethel: e scendono in Atharoth-Addar verso il monte che sta al mezzodì di Beth-horon la inferiore:
14 At this westerly point, the frontier curved round and turned south, from the mountain facing Beth-Horon from the south and came out at Kiriath-Baal, now Kiriath-Jearim, a town of the sons of Judah. That wasthe western side.	14 E declinano, e girano verso il mare a mezzodì della montagna che guarda Beth-horon dalla parte dell'Africa, e finiscono a Cariath-baal, la quale è detta Cariath-iarim città de' figliuoli di Giuda: questa è la parte verso il mare a ponente.
15 This was the south side: from the tip of Kiriath-Jearim, the frontier went to Gasin and came out nearthe spring of the Waters of Nephtoah,	15 Da mezzodì poi i suoi confini cominciano dalla parte di Cariath-iarim verso il mare, e arrivano fino alla fontana di Nephtoa.
16 it then went down to the edge of the mountain facing the Val ey of Hinnom, in the Valley of theRephaim to the north; it then went down into the Val ey of Hinnom, past the southerly flank of the Jebusite, andwent down to En-Rogel.	16 E scendono fino alla parte del monte che guarda la valle dei figliuoli di Ennom; ed è a settentrione nel fondo della valle di Raphaim. E scendono in Geennom (vale a dire valle di Ennom) accanto alli Jebusei a mezzodì, e arrivano alla fonte di Rogel.
17 It then curved northwards, coming out at En-Shemesh, and came out at the stone circle opposite theAscent of Adummim, then went down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.	17 Passano verso tramontana, e si estendono fino ad Ensemes, cioè Fonte del sole:
18 It then went on to Cheteph on the flank of Beth-ha-Arabah northwards, and went down into theArabah;	18 E passano fino alle alture che sono dirimpetto alla salita di Adommim: e scendono da Aben-boen, o sia pietra di Boen figliuolo di Ruben, e vanno dalla parte di tramontana fino a' campi; e scendono nel piano,
19 the frontier then passed round the northern flank of Beth-Hoglah, and the frontier came out at thenorthern bay of the Salt Sea, at the southern end of the Jordan. Such was the southern frontier.	19 E s'inoltrano verso settentrione a Bethhagla: e finiscono alla punta del mar salato verso settentrione all'imboccatura del Giordano che guarda mezzodì:
20 The Jordan itself formed the frontier on the east. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin asdefined by their frontier, by clans.	20 Il qual (Giordano) è suo confine da oriente: questa è la porzione, e questi i confini da tutte le bande de' figliuoli di Beniamin divisi nelle loro famiglie.
21 The towns of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans, were:	21 E le loro città furono Gerico, e Beth-hagla, e la valle di Casis,
22 Jericho, Beth-Hoglah, Emek-Keziz;	22 Beth-Araba, e Samaraim, e Bethel,
23 Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel; Avvim, Parah, Ophrah;	23 E Avim, e Aphara, e Ophera,
24 Chephar-Ammoni, Ophni, Geba: twelve towns and their vil ages.	24 Borgo di Emona, e Ophni, e Gabee: dodici città co' loro villaggi.
25 Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth;	25 Gabaon, e Rama, e Beroth,
26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah;	26 E Mesphe, e Caphara, e Amosa,
27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah;	27 E Recem, Jarephel, e Tharela,
28 Zela-ha-Eleph, the Jebusite -- that is, Jerusalem -- Gibeah and Kiriath: fourteen towns with theirvil ages. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin, by clans.	28 E Sela, Eleph, e Jebus, o sia Gerusalemme, Gabaath, e Cariath: quattordici città coi loro villaggi. Questa è la porzione de' figliuoli di Beniamin distinti nelle loro famiglie.
