Joshua 18

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The whole community of the Israelites assembled at Shiloh, and the Tent of Meeting was set up there;the whole country had been subdued for them.	1 Toda la comunidad de los israelitas se reunió en Silo, y allí fue instalada la Carpa del Encuentro. El país ya estaba sometido a los israelitas,
2 But among the Israelites there were still seven tribes left who had not received their heritage.	2 pero todavía quedaban siete tribus a las que no se les había repartido su herencia.
3 Joshua then said to the Israelites, 'How much more time are you going to waste before you go andtake possession of the country which Yahweh, God of your ancestors, has given to you?	3 Entonces Josué dijo a los israelitas: «¿Hasta cuándo van a demorar en ir a tomar posesión del país que les dio en herencia el Señor, el Dios de sus padres?
4 Choose three men from each tribe for me to send al over the country so that they can make a surveywith a view to their inheritances and then come back to me.	4 Designen a tres hombres por cada tribu, y yo los enviaré a recorrer el país. Ellos harán su descripción para que pueda ser repartido, y después regresarán.
5 They wil divide the country into seven portions. Judah wil remain in his territory in the south, andthose of the House of Joseph wil remain in their territory in the north.	5 Dividirán el territorio en siete partes, Judá se quedará en su territorio, al sur, y la casa de José en el suyo, al norte.
6 You must survey the country in seven sections and bring your findings to me here, so that I can castlots for you here, in the presence of Yahweh our God.	6 Y cuando ustedes hayan hecho la descripción del país, dividiéndolo en siete partes, me la traerán para que yo la sortee aquí, en la presencia del Señor, nuestro Dios.
7 The Levites, however, wil have no portion with the rest of you; the priesthood of Yahweh wil be theirheritage. As regards Gad and Reuben and the half-tribe of Manasseh, they have received their heritage on thefurther, eastern side of the Jordan, the one given them by Moses, servant of Yahweh.'	7 Porque los levitas no tendrán ninguna parte en medio de ustedes, ya que el sacerdocio del Señor es su herencia; y Gad, Rubén y la mitad de la tribu de Manasés ya han recibido en el lado oriental del Jordán, la herencia que les asignó Moisés, el servidor del Señor.
8 The men stood up and set off. To those who were to survey the country Joshua gave this order, 'Startout, then, go al over the country, survey it, and then come back to me; and I shal cast lots for you here, in thepresence of Yahweh, at Shiloh.'	8 Cuando los hombres que iban a hacer la descripción del país se disponían a partir, Josué les dio esta orden: «Vayan a recorrer el país, descríbanlo, y luego regresen. Después yo lo sortearé entre ustedes delante del Señor, aquí mismo, en Silo».
9 The men left, went al over the country and surveyed it by towns, in seven sections, writing down theirfindings in a book, and then went back to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh.	9 Los hombres partieron, recorrieron el país y registraron por escrito las ciudades, dividiéndolas en siete grupos. Después regresaron al campamento de Silo, donde estaba Josué.
10 Joshua cast lots for them in Yahweh's presence at Shiloh, and there Joshua divided the countrybetween the Israelites, share by share.	10 Allí Josué echó las suertes entre los israelitas, delante del Señor, y repartió el territorio a cada una de las tribus de Israel.
11 A portion fell first to the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans: the territory of their portion laybetween the sons of Judah and the sons of Joseph.	11 Se extrajo la suerte correspondiente a los clanes de la tribu de Benjamín, y a ellos les tocó el territorio comprendido entre el de los hijos de Judá y el de los hijos de José.
12 Their northern frontier began at the Jordan, went up the flank of Jericho to the north, climbedwestwards through the highlands and came out at the desert of Beth-Aven.	12 Por el lado septentrional, el límite partía del Jordán y subía por la pendiente norte de Jericó; luego subía por la montaña hacia el oeste, para terminar en el desierto de Bet Aven.
13 Thence, the frontier went on to Luz, on the southern flank of Luz -- now Bethel-and then down toAtaroth-Arach, on the mountain south of Lower Beth-Horon.	13 De allí el límite pasaba a Luz, hacia la pendiente meridional de Luz –o sea, Betel– y después descendía hasta Atarot Adar, sobre el monte que está al sur de Bet Jorón de Abajo.
14 At this westerly point, the frontier curved round and turned south, from the mountain facing Beth-Horon from the south and came out at Kiriath-Baal, now Kiriath-Jearim, a town of the sons of Judah. That wasthe western side.	14 Luego el límite daba vuelta, girando por el lado oeste, hacia el sur, y saliendo de la montaña que se encuentra frente a Bet Jorón, al sur, iba a terminar en Quiriat Baal –o sea en Quiriat Iearím– ciudad que pertenece a los hijos de Judá. Este era el límite occidental.
15 This was the south side: from the tip of Kiriath-Jearim, the frontier went to Gasin and came out nearthe spring of the Waters of Nephtoah,	15 Por el lado meridional, el límite partía del extremo de Quiriat Iearím, seguía hacia Gasín y salía cerca de las aguas de la fuente de Neftóaj.
16 it then went down to the edge of the mountain facing the Val ey of Hinnom, in the Valley of theRephaim to the north; it then went down into the Val ey of Hinnom, past the southerly flank of the Jebusite, andwent down to En-Rogel.	16 Luego bajaba hasta el extremo del monte que está frente al valle de Ben Hinnóm, al norte del valle de los Refaím; seguía bajando por el valle de Hinnóm, al sur del flanco de los jebuseos, y descendía hasta En Roguel.
17 It then curved northwards, coming out at En-Shemesh, and came out at the stone circle opposite theAscent of Adummim, then went down to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.	17 Desde allí doblaba hacia el norte y llegaba a En Semes; luego se dirigía hacia Guelilot, que está frente a la subida de Adumím, y bajaba en el Peñasco de Boján, el rubenita.
18 It then went on to Cheteph on the flank of Beth-ha-Arabah northwards, and went down into theArabah;	18 Después pasaba por la pendiente que hay frente a Bet Arabá; al norte, y bajaba hasta la Arabá;
19 the frontier then passed round the northern flank of Beth-Hoglah, and the frontier came out at thenorthern bay of the Salt Sea, at the southern end of the Jordan. Such was the southern frontier.	19 seguía por la pendiente de Bet Joglá, hacia el norte, y terminaba en la parte septentrional del mar de la Sal, en el extremo sur del Jordán. Esta era la frontera sur.
20 The Jordan itself formed the frontier on the east. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin asdefined by their frontier, by clans.	20 Por el este, el límite estaba formado por el Jordán. Esta fue la herencia de los clanes de Benjamín, con los límites que la rodean.
21 The towns of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, by clans, were:	21 Las ciudades asignadas a los clanes de la tribu de Benjamín fueron las siguientes: Jericó, Bet Joglá, Emec Quesís,
22 Jericho, Beth-Hoglah, Emek-Keziz;	22 Bet Ha Arabá, Semaraim, Betel,
23 Beth-Arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel; Avvim, Parah, Ophrah;	23 Avím, Pará, Ofrá,
24 Chephar-Ammoni, Ophni, Geba: twelve towns and their vil ages.	24 Quefar Ha Amoni, Ofní, Gueba: en total, doce ciudades con sus poblados.
25 Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth;	25 Además, Gabaón, Ramá, Beerot,
26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah;	26 Mispé, Quefirá, Mosá,
27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah;	27 Réquem, Irpeel, Taralá,
28 Zela-ha-Eleph, the Jebusite -- that is, Jerusalem -- Gibeah and Kiriath: fourteen towns with theirvil ages. Such was the heritage of the sons of Benjamin, by clans.	28 Selá, Elef, Jerusalén –la ciudad jebusea– Guibeá y Quiriat: en total, catorce ciudades con sus poblados. Esta fue la herencia que recibieron los clanes de la tribu de Benjamín.
