Philippians 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Finally, brothers, I wish you joy in the Lord. To write to you what I have already written before is notrouble to me and to you will be a protection.	1 Infine, fratelli miei, rallegratevi nel Signore. Scrivervi gli stessi avvertimenti a me non dà fastidio, mentre a voi dà sicurezza.
2 Beware of dogs! Beware of evil workmen! Beware of self-mutilators!	2 Guardatevi dai cani; guardatevi dai cattivi operai; guardatevi dai falsi circoncisi.
3 We are the true people of the circumcision since we worship by the Spirit of God and make Christ Jesusour only boast, not relying on physical qualifications,	3 I veri circoncisi siamo noi, che prestiamo culto secondo lo spirito e, glorificandoci in Cristo Gesù, non riponiamo la nostra fiducia nella carne,
4 although, I myself could rely on these too. If anyone does claim to rely on them, my claim is better.	4 quantunque io personalmente abbia di che confidare anche nella carne. Se qualcuno ritiene di riporre la sua fiducia nella carne, io a maggior ragione:
5 Circumcised on the eighth day of my life, I was born of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, aHebrew born of Hebrew parents. In the matter of the Law, I was a Pharisee;	5 circonciso all'ottavo giorno, della stirpe d'Israele, della tribù di Beniamino, ebreo figlio di Ebrei; quanto alla legge, fariseo,
6 as for religious fervour, I was a persecutor of the Church; as for the uprightness embodied in the Law, Iwas faultless.	6 quanto a zelo, persecutore della chiesa, quanto alla giustizia legale, irreprensibile.
7 But what were once my assets I now through Christ Jesus count as losses.	7 Ma per il Cristo ho giudicato una perdita tutti questi miei vantaggi.
8 Yes, I wil go further: because of the supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, I counteverything else as loss. For him I have accepted the loss of al other things, and look on them all as filth if only Ican gain Christ	8 Anzi, li giudico tuttora una perdita a paragone della sublime conoscenza di Cristo Gesù, mio Signore, per il cui amore ho accettato di perderli tutti, valutandoli rifiuti, per guadagnare Cristo
9 and be given a place in him, with the uprightness I have gained not from the Law, but through faith inChrist, an uprightness from God, based on faith,	9 ed essere in lui -- non con una mia giustizia che viene dalla legge, ma con quella che si ha dalla fede di Cristo, quella giustizia cioè che viene da Dio e si fonda sulla fede --
10 that I may come to know him and the power of his resurrection, and partake of his sufferings by beingmoulded to the pattern of his death,	10 e per conoscere lui con la potenza della sua risurrezione e la partecipazione alle sue sofferenze, trasformandomi in un'immagine della sua morte,
11 striving towards the goal of resurrection from the dead.	11 per giungere, in qualche modo, a risorgere dai morti.
12 Not that I have secured it already, nor yet reached my goal, but I am stil pursuing it in the attempt totake hold of the prize for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.	12 Non che io sia già arrivato alla mèta o sia già in uno stato di perfezione, ma mi sforzo nel tentativo di afferrarla, perché anch'io sono stato afferrato da Cristo Gesù.
13 Brothers, I do not reckon myself as having taken hold of it; I can only say that forgetting al that liesbehind me, and straining forward to what lies in front,	13 Fratelli, io non pretendo di averla già afferrata; questo dico: dimenticando il passato e protendendomi verso l'avvenire,
14 I am racing towards the finishing-point to win the prize of God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus.	14 mi lancio verso la mèta, al premio della celeste chiamata di Dio in Cristo Gesù.
15 So this is the way in which al of us who are mature should be thinking, and if you are still thinkingdifferently in any way, then God has yet to make this matter clear to you.	15 Quanti dunque siamo perfetti, coltiviamo questi pensieri; se poi in qualche cosa pensate diversamente, Dio vi rivelerà anche questo.
16 Meanwhile, let us go forward from the point we have each attained.	16 Se non che al punto in cui siamo giunti, continuiamo sulla stessa linea.
17 Brothers, be united in imitating me. Keep your eyes fixed on those who act according to the exampleyou have from me.	17 Imitate me, fratelli, e fissate la vostra attenzione su coloro che si comportano secondo il modello che avete in noi.
18 For there are so many people of whom I have often warned you, and now I warn you again with tearsin my eyes, who behave like the enemies of Christ's cross.	18 Perché molti, dei quali spesso vi ho parlato e ora ve ne riparlo piangendo, si comportano da nemici della croce di Cristo;
19 They are destined to be lost; their god is the stomach; they glory in what they should think shameful,since their minds are set on earthly things.	19 la loro fine è la perdizione, il loro dio è il ventre, il loro vanto è il disonore; essi hanno in mente i beni della terra.
20 But our homeland is in heaven and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord JesusChrist,	20 Noi però siamo cittadini del cielo, da dove attendiamo anche, come salvatore, il Signore Gesù Cristo,
21 who wil transfigure the wretched body of ours into the mould of his glorious body, through the workingof the power which he has, even to bring all things under his mastery.	21 che trasformerà il nostro misero corpo per uniformarlo al suo corpo glorioso, in virtù del potere che ha di sottomettere a sé tutto l'universo.
