1 Finally, brothers, I wish you joy in the Lord. To write to you what I have already written before is notrouble to me and to you will be a protection.	1 Del rimanente, fratelli miei, state allegri nel Signore. Non rincresce a me, ed è necessario per voi, che io vi scriva le stesse cose.
2 Beware of dogs! Beware of evil workmen! Beware of self-mutilators!	2 Guardatevi dai cani, guardatevi dai cattivi operai, guardatevi dal taglio.
3 We are the true people of the circumcision since we worship by the Spirit of God and make Christ Jesusour only boast, not relying on physical qualifications,	3 Imperocché i circoncisi siam noi, che serviamo a Dio in Ispirito, e ci gloriamo in Cristo Gesù, e non ponghiamo fiducia nella carne:
4 although, I myself could rely on these too. If anyone does claim to rely on them, my claim is better.	4 Quantunque io abbia onde confidare anche nella carne. Se alcun altro vuoi confidar nella carne, maggiormente io,
5 Circumcised on the eighth day of my life, I was born of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, aHebrew born of Hebrew parents. In the matter of the Law, I was a Pharisee;	5 Circonciso l'ottavo giorno, Israelita di nazione, della tribù di Beniamin, Ebreo (nato) di Ebrei, secondo la legge Fariseo,
6 as for religious fervour, I was a persecutor of the Church; as for the uprightness embodied in the Law, Iwas faultless.	6 Quanto allo zelo, persecutor della Chiesa di Dio, quanto alla giustizia consistente nella legge, irreprensibile.
7 But what were once my assets I now through Christ Jesus count as losses.	7 Ma quegli, che erano i miei guadagni, gli stimai a causa di Cristo mie perdite.
8 Yes, I wil go further: because of the supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, I counteverything else as loss. For him I have accepted the loss of al other things, and look on them all as filth if only Ican gain Christ	8 Anzi io giudico, che le cose tutte siano perdita rispetto all'eminente cognizione di Gesù Cristo mio Signore: per causa di cui ho giudicato un discapito tutte le cose, e le stimo come spazzatura per fare acquisto di Cristo,
9 and be given a place in him, with the uprightness I have gained not from the Law, but through faith inChrist, an uprightness from God, based on faith,	9 Ed essere trovato in lui, non avendola mia giustizia, che vien dalla legge, ma quella, che vien dalla fede di Cristo Gesù: giustizia, che viene da Dio (che posa) sopra la fede,
10 that I may come to know him and the power of his resurrection, and partake of his sufferings by beingmoulded to the pattern of his death,	10 Affin di conoscer lui, e l'efficacia della sua risurrezione, e la partecipazione de' suoi patimenti, conformatomi alla morte di lui:
11 striving towards the goal of resurrection from the dead.	11 Se in qualche modo giunga io alla risurrezione da morte:
12 Not that I have secured it already, nor yet reached my goal, but I am stil pursuing it in the attempt totake hold of the prize for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.	12 Non che io già tutto abbia conseguito, o che io sia già perfetto: ma tengo dietro a studiarmi di prendere quella cosa, per cui io pure fui preso da Cristo Gesù.
13 Brothers, I do not reckon myself as having taken hold of it; I can only say that forgetting al that liesbehind me, and straining forward to what lies in front,	13 Io, fratelli, non mi credo di aver toccata la meta. Ma questo solo, che dimentico di quel, che ho dietro le spalle, verso le cose stendendomi, che mi stanno davanti,
14 I am racing towards the finishing-point to win the prize of God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus.	14 Mi avanzo verso il segno, verso il premio della superna vocazione di Dio, in Cristo Gesù.
15 So this is the way in which al of us who are mature should be thinking, and if you are still thinkingdifferently in any way, then God has yet to make this matter clear to you.	15 Quanti adunque siamo perfetti, pensiamo in tal guisa: e se in alcuna cosa pensate altrimenti, anche in questo Dio vi illuminerà.
16 Meanwhile, let us go forward from the point we have each attained.	16 Quanto però a quello, a che siam già arrivati, tenghiamo gli stessi sentimenti; e perseveriamo nella stessa regola.
17 Brothers, be united in imitating me. Keep your eyes fixed on those who act according to the exampleyou have from me.	17 Siate miei imitatori, o fratelli, e ponete mente a quegli, che camminano secondo il modello, che avete in noi.
18 For there are so many people of whom I have often warned you, and now I warn you again with tearsin my eyes, who behave like the enemies of Christ's cross.	18 Imperocché molti, de' quali spesse volte vi ho parlato (e ve ne parlo anche adesso con lagrime) si diportano da nemici della croce di Cristo:
19 They are destined to be lost; their god is the stomach; they glory in what they should think shameful,since their minds are set on earthly things.	19 La fine de' quali è la perdizione: il Dio de' quali è il ventre: i quali della propria confusione fan gloria, attaccati alle cose della terra.
20 But our homeland is in heaven and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord JesusChrist,	20 Ma noi siam cittadini del cielo: donde pur aspettiamo il Salvatore, il Signor nostro Gesù Cristo,
21 who wil transfigure the wretched body of ours into the mould of his glorious body, through the workingof the power which he has, even to bring all things under his mastery.	21 Il quale trasformerà il corpo di nostra vilezza, perché sia conforme al corpo della sua gloria, per quella potenza, con la quale può ancor soggettare a se tutte le cose.
