1 Finally, brothers, I wish you joy in the Lord. To write to you what I have already written before is notrouble to me and to you will be a protection.	1 Que vous dire de plus, frères? Soyez joyeux dans le Seigneur. Cela ne me coûte pas de le répéter et pour vous c’est plus sûr:
2 Beware of dogs! Beware of evil workmen! Beware of self-mutilators!	2 prenez garde aux chiens, prenez garde aux mauvais ouvriers, prenez garde au groupe des circoncis!
3 We are the true people of the circumcision since we worship by the Spirit of God and make Christ Jesusour only boast, not relying on physical qualifications,	3 La circoncision, c’est nous qui l’avons, puisque nous servons Dieu en esprit et nous nous appuyons sur le Christ et non sur des sécurités humaines.
4 although, I myself could rely on these too. If anyone does claim to rely on them, my claim is better.	4 Parlant de références humaines, moi aussi j’aurais sur quoi m’appuyer. Si un autre pense s’appuyer sur quelque mérite humain, je le peux davantage.
5 Circumcised on the eighth day of my life, I was born of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, aHebrew born of Hebrew parents. In the matter of the Law, I was a Pharisee;	5 Né de la race d’Israël, de la tribu de Benjamin, Hébreu et fils d’Hébreux, j’ai été circoncis au huitième jour. Étais-je religieux? Oui, j’étais Pharisien,
6 as for religious fervour, I was a persecutor of the Church; as for the uprightness embodied in the Law, Iwas faultless.	6 et convaincu jusqu’à persécuter l’Église. Est-ce que j’étais un juste selon la Loi? Oui, je n’avais rien à me reprocher.
7 But what were once my assets I now through Christ Jesus count as losses.	7 Mais avec le Christ, tous les avantages me sont apparus comme des poids morts, du négatif.
8 Yes, I wil go further: because of the supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, I counteverything else as loss. For him I have accepted the loss of al other things, and look on them all as filth if only Ican gain Christ	8 Je dirai plus: tout me semble poids mort à côté de la connaissance du Christ Jésus, mon Seigneur, si extraordinaire! A cause de lui, je n’ai plus trouvé de valeur à rien, et je regarde tout cela comme des résidus quand je cherche à gagner le Christ.
9 and be given a place in him, with the uprightness I have gained not from the Law, but through faith inChrist, an uprightness from God, based on faith,	9 Et je veux me retrouver en lui, sans aucun mérite à moi, sans cette intégrité qu’on attend de la Loi, mais avec celle qui vient de la foi selon le Christ, cette vraie droiture que Dieu donne au croyant.
10 that I may come to know him and the power of his resurrection, and partake of his sufferings by beingmoulded to the pattern of his death,	10 Je veux le connaître lui, et la force de sa résurrection, partager ses souffrances jusqu’à lui ressembler dans sa mort
11 striving towards the goal of resurrection from the dead.	11 pour au moins atteindre la résurrection d’entre les morts.
12 Not that I have secured it already, nor yet reached my goal, but I am stil pursuing it in the attempt totake hold of the prize for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.	12 Je ne suis pas encore au but, je ne suis pas encore un “parfait”, mais je poursuis ma course: ne vais-je pas saisir, comme j’ai été saisi moi-même par le Christ?
13 Brothers, I do not reckon myself as having taken hold of it; I can only say that forgetting al that liesbehind me, and straining forward to what lies in front,	13 Frères, je ne me crois pas déjà qualifié, mais je reste tendu de l’avant sans plus penser à ce que je laisse derrière,
14 I am racing towards the finishing-point to win the prize of God's heavenly call in Christ Jesus.	14 et je cours les yeux fixés sur le prix de la vocation divine, je veux dire de l’appel de Dieu dans le Christ Jésus.
15 So this is the way in which al of us who are mature should be thinking, and if you are still thinkingdifferently in any way, then God has yet to make this matter clear to you.	15 Nous tous qui nous disons “parfaits”, voilà notre objectif, et si vous ne voyez pas encore les choses ainsi, Dieu vous les fera voir.
16 Meanwhile, let us go forward from the point we have each attained.	16 Au moins, ne perdez pas ce que vous avez conquis.
17 Brothers, be united in imitating me. Keep your eyes fixed on those who act according to the exampleyou have from me.	17 Frères, soyez mes imitateurs et gardez présents ceux qui suivent notre exemple.
18 For there are so many people of whom I have often warned you, and now I warn you again with tearsin my eyes, who behave like the enemies of Christ's cross.	18 Car il y en a, je vous l’ai souvent dit et je le répète avec larmes, qui vivent en ennemis de la croix du Christ.
19 They are destined to be lost; their god is the stomach; they glory in what they should think shameful,since their minds are set on earthly things.	19 Ils vont à leur perte car ils ont pour dieu leur ventre; pour eux, seul compte ce qui est de la terre, et ils se vantent quand ils devraient avoir honte.
20 But our homeland is in heaven and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord JesusChrist,	20 Nous, au contraire, nous appartenons à la cité du ciel et de là nous attendons notre sauveur, Jésus Christ, le Seigneur.
21 who wil transfigure the wretched body of ours into the mould of his glorious body, through the workingof the power which he has, even to bring all things under his mastery.	21 Car il transformera notre corps misérable, avec cette force qui lui permet de soumettre même l’univers, et il le rendra semblable à son propre corps glorieux.
