1 Corinthians 15

1 I want to make quite clear to you, brothers, what the message of the gospel that I preached to you is;you accepted it and took your stand on it,	1 Frères, je veux vous rappeler l’Évangile avec lequel je vous ai évangélisés. Vous l’avez reçu, vous y êtes restés fidèles
2 and you are saved by it, if you keep to the message I preached to you; otherwise your coming tobelieve was in vain.	2 et par lui vous êtes sauvés si vous gardez la Bonne Nouvelle comme je vous l’ai annoncée, à moins que par hasard vous ayez cru ce qui ne tient pas.
3 The tradition I handed on to you in the first place, a tradition which I had myself received, was thatChrist died for our sins, in accordance with the scriptures,	3 Je vous ai transmis ceci d’abord, comme je l’avais reçu moi-même, que le Christ est mort pour nos péchés, en accord avec les Écritures;
4 and that he was buried; and that on the third day, he was raised to life, in accordance with thescriptures;	4 qu’il a été enseveli, et qu’il est ressuscité le troisième jour, en accord avec les Écritures;
5 and that he appeared to Cephas; and later to the Twelve;	5 qu’il s’est montré à Pierre, et ensuite aux Douze.
6 and next he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom arestill with us, though some have fal en asleep;	6 Il s’est montré ensuite à plus de 500 frères à la fois, dont quelques-uns sont morts mais la plupart sont encore vivants.
7 then he appeared to James, and then to all the apostles.	7 Il s’est montré à Jacques et ensuite à tous les apôtres.
8 Last of al he appeared to me too, as though I was a child born abnormally.	8 Et il s’est montré à moi, - j’allais dire à l’avorton - le dernier de tous.
9 For I am the least of the apostles and am not real y fit to be called an apostle, because I had beenpersecuting the Church of God;	9 Car je suis le dernier des apôtres et je ne mérite pas d’être appelé apôtre, moi qui ai persécuté l’Église de Dieu.
10 but what I am now, I am through the grace of God, and the grace which was given to me has notbeen wasted. Indeed, I have worked harder than all the others -- not I, but the grace of God which is with me.	10 Mais par grâce de Dieu je suis ce que je suis, et sa grâce avec moi n’a pas été perdue. Oui, j’ai travaillé plus que tous les autres, non pas moi, mais la grâce de Dieu en moi.
11 Anyway, whether it was they or I, this is what we preach and what you believed.	11 Voilà donc ce que nous proclamons, que ce soit eux ou moi, et voilà ce que vous avez cru.
12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you be saying that there is no resurrection of the dead?	12 Mais si on proclame un Christ ressuscité d’entre les morts, comment peut-on dire chez vous qu’il n’y a pas de résurrection pour les morts?
13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ cannot have been raised either,	13 Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, le Christ non plus n’est pas ressuscité.
14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is without substance, and so is your faith.	14 Et si le Christ n’est pas ressuscité, notre prédication ne rime à rien, votre foi ne rime à rien!
15 What is more, we have proved to be false witnesses to God, for testifying against God that he raisedChrist to life when he did not raise him -- if it is true that the dead are not raised.	15 Nous voilà donc devenus de faux témoins de Dieu, puisque nous affirmons au nom de Dieu qu’il a ressuscité le Christ -
16 For, if the dead are not raised, neither is Christ;	16 et de fait il ne l’a pas ressuscité, vu que les morts ne ressuscitent pas: si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, le Christ n’a pas pu ressusciter.
17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is pointless and you have not, after al , been releasedfrom your sins.	17 Si le Christ n’est pas ressuscité, votre foi n’est qu’une illusion et vous êtes encore dans vos péchés.
18 In addition, those who have fal en asleep in Christ are utterly lost.	18 Et finalement ceux qui se sont endormis dans le Christ sont tout à fait perdus.
19 If our hope in Christ has been for this life only, we are of al people the most pitiable.	19 Si notre espérance dans le Christ se termine avec la vie présente, nous sommes les plus à plaindre de tous les hommes.
20 In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruits of al who have fal enasleep.	20 Mais en fait le Christ s’est bien relevé d’entre les morts, et il précède tous ceux qui se sont endormis.
21 As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead.	21 Un homme nous avait amené la mort, et c’est un homme encore qui nous apporte la résurrection des morts.
22 Just as al die in Adam, so in Christ al wil be brought to life;	22 Tous meurent parce qu’ils sont inclus en Adam, et tous sont rendus à la vie quand ils sont dans le Christ.
23 but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first-fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belongto him.	23 Il y a un temps fixé pour tous: le Christ nous précède, et quand il reviendra, ce sera l’heure pour les siens.
24 After that wil come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolishedevery principality, every ruling force and power.	24 Alors viendra la fin. Le Christ aura dominé toutes les lois, les forces et les souverains de l’univers, et il remettra le Royaume à Dieu le Père.
25 For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool,	25 Il est dit qu’il doit exercer le pouvoir jusqu’à ce qu’il ait mis ses ennemis sous ses pieds,
26 and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put al things under his feet.	26 et le dernier des ennemis vaincus sera la mort.
27 But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjectedeverything to him.	27 Dieu mettra toutes choses sous ses pieds. Tout lui sera soumis, sauf Dieu bien sûr qui lui soumet l’univers.
28 When everything has been subjected to him, then the Son himself wil be subjected to the One whohas subjected everything to him, so that God may be al in al .	28 Quand tout lui sera soumis, le Fils se soumettra à celui qui lui a soumis toutes choses, et Dieu sera désormais tout en tous.
29 Otherwise, what are people up to who have themselves baptised on behalf of the dead? If the deadare not raised at al , what is the point of being baptised on their behalf?	29 Au fait, ceux qui se font baptiser pour les morts, que veulent-ils? Si de toutes façons les morts ne ressuscitent pas, pourquoi se font-ils baptiser pour eux?
30 And what about us? Why should we endanger ourselves every hour of our lives?	30 Et nous-mêmes, pourquoi risquons-nous notre vie à chaque instant?
31 I swear by the pride that I take in you, in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I face death every day.	31 Oui, frères, aussi vrai que je suis fier de vous dans le Christ Jésus, notre Seigneur, je meurs un peu chaque jour.
32 If I fought wild animals at Ephesus in a purely human perspective, what had I to gain by it?	32 S’il n’y a rien d’autre que cette vie, qu’est-ce que j’ai gagné à lutter contre des lions à Éphèse? Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, mangeons et buvons car demain nous mourrons.
33 If the dead are not going to be raised, then Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall be dead.	33 Ne vous y trompez pas: les mauvaises doctrines corrompent les bonnes mœurs.
34 So do not let anyone lead you astray, 'Bad company corrupts good ways.' Wake up from your stuporas you should and leave sin alone; some of you have no understanding of God; I tel you this to instil someshame in you.	34 Réveillez-vous pour de bon et sortez du péché, car certains d’entre vous ignorent tout de Dieu, je le dis pour votre honte.
35 Someone may ask: How are dead people raised, and what sort of body do they have when theycome?	35 Quelqu’un va me dire: “Comment est cette résurrection des morts? Quelle sorte de corps vont-ils retrouver?”
36 How foolish! What you sow must die before it is given new life;	36 Homme sans cervelle! Tout ce que tu sèmes doit mourir d’abord pour recevoir la vie.
37 and what you sow is not the body that is to be, but only a bare grain, of wheat I dare say, or someother kind;	37 Et quand tu sèmes, ce n’est pas la future plante que tu sèmes, mais un grain nu, de blé ou de toute autre espèce.
38 it is God who gives it the sort of body that he has chosen for it, and for each kind of seed its own kindof body.	38 Dieu ensuite va lui donner un corps selon qu’il a décidé, car il donne à chaque semence un corps différent.
39 Not al flesh is the same flesh: there is human flesh; animals have another kind of flesh, birds anotherand fish yet another.	39 Et puis la chair, ce n’est pas toujours la même chair. Celle d’un homme n’est pas exactement celle des animaux, ou des oiseaux, ou des poissons.
40 Then there are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies; the heavenly have a splendour of their own, andthe earthly a different splendour.	40 Et quand on parle de “corps”, les “corps célestes” sont différents des corps qu’on voit sur la terre: ils sont tout lumineux.
41 The sun has its own splendour, the moon another splendour, and the stars yet another splendour;and the stars differ among themselves in splendour.	41 Et encore la lumière du soleil est différente de celle de la lune ou des étoiles, et les étoiles n’ont pas toutes le même éclat.
42 It is the same too with the resurrection of the dead: what is sown is perishable, but what is raised isimperishable;	42 C’est la même chose pour la résurrection des morts. On sème un corps en décomposition, mais il ressuscite incorruptible.
43 what is sown is contemptible but what is raised is glorious; what is sown is weak, but what is raisedis powerful;	43 On le sème dans son humiliation, mais il ressuscite dans la gloire. On le sème impuissant, mais il ressuscite plein de force;
44 what is sown is a natural body, and what is raised is a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, thereis a spiritual body too.	44 On le sème, ce n’était que vie animale, mais il se réveille corps spirituel. Car si le corps doué de vie animale est une réalité, le corps spirituel l’est tout autant.
45 So the first man, Adam, as scripture says, became a living soul; and the last Adam has become alife-giving spirit.	45 Il est écrit que le premier Adam était homme vivant de vie animale. Le dernier Adam sera esprit et source de vie.
46 But first came the natural body, not the spiritual one; that came only afterwards.	46 C’est la vie animale qui apparaît en premier, et non la vie par l’esprit. Ce qui est spirituel ne vient qu’ensuite.
47 The first man, being made of earth, is earthly by nature; the second man is from heaven.	47 Le premier homme est tiré de la terre et il est terre, le second homme vient du ciel.
48 The earthly man is the pattern for earthly people, the heavenly man for heavenly ones.	48 Ceux qui sont de la terre sont comme cet homme de terre, mais ceux qui atteignent le ciel sont semblables à l’homme du ciel.
49 And as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so we shal bear the likeness of the heavenlyone.	49 Aussi, après avoir ressemblé à l’homme de la terre, nous serons à l’image de l’homme du ciel.
50 What I am saying, brothers, is that mere human nature cannot inherit the kingdom of God: what isperishable cannot inherit what is imperishable.	50 Comprenez-moi bien, frères: ce qui est chair et sang ne peut pas entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu. Les forces de décomposition ne peuvent pas avoir part à la vie incorruptible.
51 Now I am going to tel you a mystery: we are not al going to fal asleep,	51 Aussi je vous dis cette chose extraordinaire: même si nous ne mourons pas tous, tous nous serons transformés
52 but we are al going to be changed, instantly, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpetsounds. The trumpet is going to sound, and then the dead wil be raised imperishable, and we shal be changed,	52 lorsque sonnera la trompette finale. Ce sera l’affaire d’un instant, juste un clin d’œil. Quand sonnera la trompette, les morts ressusciteront dans un état définitif, et nous-mêmes nous serons transformés.
53 because this perishable nature of ours must put on imperishability, this mortal nature must put onimmortality.	53 Car ce qui en nous subit la décomposition doit revêtir sa forme inaltérable; ce qui en nous va à la mort doit revêtir sa forme immortelle.
54 And after this perishable nature has put on imperishability and this mortal nature has put onimmortality, then wil the words of scripture come true: Death is swal owed up in victory.	54 Donc, quand ce qui subit la décomposition revêtira sa forme inaltérable, quand cette vie mortelle disparaîtra sous la vie immortelle, on pourra dire cette parole de l’Écriture: Quelle victoire! La mort a été engloutie.
55 Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?	55 Qu’est devenue ta victoire, ô mort? Où est donc, ô mort, ton aiguillon?
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin comes from the Law.	56 L’aiguillon de la mort, c’était le péché, et la Loi faisait sa force.
57 Thank God, then, for giving us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.	57 Mais rendons grâces à Dieu qui nous donne la victoire par Jésus Christ, notre Seigneur.
58 So, my dear brothers, keep firm and immovable, always abounding in energy for the Lord's work,being sure that in the Lord none of your labours is wasted.	58 Donc, frères bien-aimés, restez fermes. Ne vous laissez pas ébranler, mais donnez-vous pleinement à l’œuvre du Christ à tout instant; et sachez que, dans le Seigneur, votre peine n’est pas perdue.
