Deuteronomy 31

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Moses went and spoke to all Israel as follows,	1 - Andò dunque Mosè, e notificò tutte queste cose a tutto Israele,
2 'Today, I am one hundred and twenty years old, and can no longer act as leader. Yahweh has toldme, "You shal not cross this Jordan."	2 dicendo loro: «Io ho ormai centovent'anni, e non posso più andar avanti e indietro, tanto più che anche il Signore ha detto: - Tu non passerai questo fiume del Giordano. -
3 Yahweh your God himself will lead you across, he himself wil destroy and dispossess these nationsconfronting you; Joshua too wil lead you across, as Yahweh has said.	3 Pertanto il Signore Dio tuo andrà avanti a te; egli disperderà tutte queste genti dal tuo cospetto, e tu le soggiogherai. Giosuè, qui presente, camminerà innanzi a te, com'ha detto il Signore.
4 Yahweh wil treat them as he has treated Sihon and Og the Amorite kings and their country -- hedestroyed them.	4 Ed il Signore farà con esse come fece con Seon ed Og re degli Amorrei e col loro territorio, e le distruggerà.
5 Yahweh wil put them at your mercy, and you wil deal with them exactly as prescribed by thecommandments which I have laid down for you.	5 Quando dunque ve l'avrà date in mano, fate con loro come con quelli, com'io vi comandai.
6 Be strong, stand firm, have no fear, do not be afraid of them, for Yahweh your God is going with you;he wil not fail you or desert you.'	6 Comportatevi da forti, ed abbiate coraggio; non abbiate timore, e non v'impaurite davanti a loro, perchè il Signore Dio tuo è egli stesso il tuo condottiero e non ti lascerà nè t'abbandonerà».
7 Moses then summoned Joshua and, in the presence of al Israel, said to him, 'Be strong, stand firm;you wil be the one to go with this people into the country which Yahweh has sworn to their ancestors that hewould give them; you are to be the one who puts them into possession of it.	7 Di poi, Mosè chiamò Giosuè, e gli disse, in presenza di tutto Israele: «Sta' di buon animo, e sii forte; perchè tu introdurrai questo popolo nella terra che il Signore giurò ai padri loro di dargli, e la spartirai fra loro a sorte.
8 Yahweh himself will lead you; he wil be with you; he will not fail you or desert you. Have no fear, donot be alarmed.'	8 Il Signore, che è il vostro condottiere, sarà con te; non ti lascerà nè t'abbandonerà; non temere, non aver paura».
9 Moses committed this Law to writing and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the ark ofYahweh's covenant, and to al the elders of Israel.	9 Scrisse dunque Mosè questa legge, e la consegnò ai sacerdoti figli di Levi che portavano l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore, ed a tutti i seniori di Israele.
10 And Moses gave them this command, 'At the end of every seven years, at the time fixed for the yearof remission, at the feast of Shelters,	10 E dette loro quest'ordine: «Ogni sette anni, l'anno della remissione, per la solennità de' tabernacoli,
11 when all Israel assembles in the presence of Yahweh your God in the place chosen by him, you mustproclaim this Law in the hearing of al Israel.	11 quando tutti d'Israele convengono per trovarsi al cospetto del Signore Dio tuo nel luogo che il Signore avrà eletto, tu leggerai le parole di questa legge al cospetto di tutto Israele, stando ad ascoltarle
12 Cal the people together, men, women, children, and the foreigner residing with you, so that, hearingit, they may learn to fear Yahweh your God and keep and observe al the words of this Law.	12 tutto il popolo insieme riunito: gli uomini e le donne, i fanciulli ed i forestieri che sono entro le tue porte. Così udendole, impareranno, e temeranno il Signore Dio vostro, e custodiranno ed adempieranno tutte le parole di questa legge;
13 Their children, who as yet do not know it, wil hear it and learn to fear Yahweh your God, all the timeyou live in the country which you are crossing the Jordan to possess.'	13 anche i loro figliuoli, che ora le ignorano, potranno udirle, e temeranno il Signore Dio loro per tutto il tempo nel quale staranno nella terra della quale voi, passato il Giordano, siete per entrare al possesso».
14 Yahweh said to Moses, 'And now the time is near when you must die. Summon Joshua and takeyour places at the Tent of Meeting, so that I can give him his orders.' Moses and Joshua went and took theirplaces at the Tent of Meeting,	14 E disse il Signore a Mosè: «Ecco, s'avvicina il tempo della morte. Chiama Giosuè, e presentatevi [insieme] nel tabernacolo della testimonianza, acciò io dia a lui i miei ordini». Andarono pertanto Mosè e Giosuè, e stettero nel tabernacolo della testimonianza.
15 and Yahweh showed himself at the Tent in a pil ar of cloud; the pil ar of cloud stood at the door of theTent.	15 Apparve il Signore nella colonna di nube, che si fermò all'ingresso del tabernacolo.
16 Yahweh said to Moses, 'You will soon be sleeping with your ancestors, and this people is about toplay the harlot by fol owing the gods of the foreigners of the country, among whom they are going to live. Theywil desert me and break my covenant, which I have made with them.	16 E disse il Signore a Mosè: «Ecco, tu dormirai co' padri tuoi; e questo popolo si metterà a fornicare con gli dèi stranieri in quella terra nella quale entrerà ad abitare. Ivi m'abbandonerà, e renderà vano il patto ch'io conchiusi con lui.
17 That very day, my anger wil blaze against them; I shal desert them and hide my face from them. Ahost of disasters and misfortunes will overtake them to devour them, and when that day comes they wil say, "Ifsuch disasters overtake me, surely Yahweh my God cannot be with me?"	17 Allora il mio furore divamperà contro di lui; io l'abbandonerò, io gli nasconderò la mia faccia, ed egli sarà condannato; tutti i mali e tutte le afflizioni lo arriveranno, così che egli abbia a dire un giorno: - Davvero, siccome non è con me il Signore, questi mali m'hanno raggiunto. -
18 Yes indeed, I shall hide my face that day, on account of al the evil which they wil have done byturning to other gods.	18 Io nasconderò e coprirò in quel giorno la mia faccia [rispetto a lui], per tutt'i mali che avrà fatto andando dietro agli dèi stranieri.
19 'Now write down this song for you to use; teach it to the Israelites, put it into their mouths, for it to bea witness on my behalf against the Israelites:	19 Ora dunque scrivetevi questo cantico, ed insegnatelo a' figli d'Israele, acciò l'imparino a memoria, e l'abbiano sulla bocca e lo cantino, e sia per me questo cantico una testimonianza di fronte a' figli di Israele.
20 against Israel, whom I am bringing into the country which I swore to his ancestors that I would givehim, a country flowing with milk and honey: against Israel, who wil eat to his heart's content and grow fat, andwil then turn to other gods and serve them, despising me and breaking my covenant.	20 Io infatti li introdurrò nella terra per la quale feci giuramento a' padri loro, terra che stilla latte e miele. Ma quando si saranno pasciuti, e saranno saziati ed impinguati, si volgeranno agli dèi stranieri servendo ad essi, e sparleranno di me, e renderanno vano il mio patto.
21 When a host of disasters and misfortunes overtakes him, this song, like a witness, wil give evidenceagainst him, since his descendants wil not have forgotten it. Yes, even today, before I have brought him to thecountry which I have promised him on oath, I know what plans he has in mind.'	21 Quando mali ed afflizioni in gran numero l'avranno raggiunto, questo cantico gli risponderà come una testimonianza che l'oblio non potrà cancellare di sulla bocca dei suoi discendenti; io infatti conosco i suoi pensieri, e quello ch'egli è per me, oggi, prima ch'io l'introduca nella terra che gli ho promessa».
22 So, that day, Moses wrote out this song and taught it to the Israelites.	22 Scrisse dunque Mosè, il cantico, e l'insegnò ai figli d'Israele.
23 To Joshua son of Nun, Yahweh gave this order, 'Be strong and stand firm, for you are to be the oneto bring the Israelites into the country which I have promised them on oath, and I myself shall be with you.'	23 Ed il Signore comandò a Giosuè figlio di Nun, dicendogli: «Fatti coraggio, e sii forte; perchè tu introdurrai i figli d'Israele nella terra da me promessa, ed io sarò teco».
24 When Moses had completely finished writing the words of this Law in a book,	24 Dopo dunque che Mosè ebbe scritte le parole di questa legge in un volume, e l'ebbe compiuto,
25 he gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of Yahweh's covenant:	25 comandò ai leviti che portavano l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore, e disse:
26 'Take the book of this Law and put it beside the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God. Let it liethere as evidence against you.	26 «Prendete questo libro, e ponetelo accanto all'arca dell'alleanza del Signore Dio vostro, acciò stia ivi in testimonianza contro di te [o Israele].
27 For I know how rebel ious and stiff-necked you are. If today, while I am stil alive and with you, yourebel against Yahweh, how much more wil you rebel against him after my death!	27 Io infatti conosco il tuo spirito di ribellione, e la testa tua durissima. Anche quando ero vivo e stavo in mezzo a voi, sempre vi ribellaste contro il Signore; quanto più quand'io sarò morto?
28 'Gather al your tribal elders and scribes round me, so that I may be sure that they hear these words,as I cal heaven and earth to witness against them.	28 Riunite dinanzi a me tutti gli anziani vostri, per tribù, ed i maestri, ed io, udendomi essi, dirò queste cose, e chiamerò [a testimoni] contro di loro il cielo e la terra.
29 For I know that after my death you are certain to grow corrupt; you wil leave the way which I havemarked out for you; in the final days disaster wil befal you for having done what is evil in Yahweh's eyes, forhaving provoked his anger by your behaviour.'	29 So infatti che dopo la morte vi condurrete iniquamente, e, presto uscirete dalla via che vi ho segnata; ed alla fine verranno su voi delle calamità, quando avrete fatto il male al cospetto del Signore, in modo da irritarlo con l'opere delle vostre mani».
30 In the hearing of the whole assembly of Israel, Moses then recited the words of this song to the end:	30 Mosè dunque, udendolo tutta l'assemblea d'Israele, disse le parole di questo cantico, e lo recitò sino in fondo.
