Deuteronomy 21

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 'If, in the country which Yahweh your God gives you as your possession, a victim of murder is foundlying in the open country and it is not known who has kil ed that person,	1 QUANDO si troverà in su la terra che il Signore Iddio tuo ti dà a possedere, un uomo ucciso che giacerà su la campagna, senza che si sappia chi l’abbia ucciso,
2 your elders and scribes must measure the distance between the victim and the surrounding towns,	2 escano fuori i tuoi Anziani e i tuoi Giudici, e misurino lo spazio che vi sarà fino alle città che saranno d’intorno a colui.
3 and establish which town is the nearest to the victim. The elders of that town must then take a heiferthat has not yet been put to work or used as a draught animal under the yoke.	3 Poi prendano gli Anziani della città più vicina dell’ucciso una giovenca, con la quale non si sia lavorata la terra, che non abbia tirato al giogo.
4 The elders of that town must bring the heifer down to a permanently flowing river, to a spot that hasbeen neither ploughed nor sown, and there by the river they must break the heifer's neck.	4 E menino gli Anziani di quella città quella giovenca in una valle deserta, nella quale non si lavori nè semini; e taglino quivi il collo alla giovenca nella valle.
5 The priests, the sons of Levi, wil then step forward, these being the men whom Yahweh your God haschosen to serve him and to bless in Yahweh's name, and it being their business to settle al cases of dispute orof violence.	5 Vengano ancora i sacerdoti, i figliuoli di Levi; conciossiachè il Signore Iddio tuo li abbia eletti per fare il suo servigio, e per benedire nel Nome del Signore; e, secondo la lor parola, ha da esser giudicata qualunque lite, e qualunque piaga.
6 Al the elders of the town nearest to the victim of murder must then wash their hands in the stream,over the slaughtered heifer.	6 E lavinsi tutti gli Anziani di quella città, più vicini dell’ucciso, le mani sopra quella giovenca, alla quale sarà stato tagliato il collo nella valle;
7 They must pronounce these words, "Our hands have not shed this blood and our eyes have seennothing.	7 e protestino, e dicano: Le nostre mani non hanno sparso questo sangue; gli occhi nostri eziandio non l’hanno veduto spandere.
8 O Yahweh, forgive your people Israel whom you have redeemed, and let no innocent blood be shedamong your people Israel. May this bloodshed be forgiven them!"	8 O Signore, sii propizio inverso il tuo popolo Israele, il quale tu hai riscattato, e non permettere che vi sia, in mezzo del tuo popolo Israele, colpa di sangue innocente sparso. Così sarà purgato quel sangue, quant’è a loro.
9 You must banish all shedding of innocent blood from among you, if you mean to do what is right in theeyes of Yahweh.	9 E tu avrai tolta via del mezzo di te la colpa del sangue innocente, quando avrai fatto ciò che piace al Signore
10 'When you go to war against your enemies and Yahweh your God delivers them into your power andyou take prisoners,	10 QUANDO sarai uscito in guerra contro a’ tuoi nemici, e il Signore Iddio tuo te li avrà dati nelle mani, e ne avrai menati de’ prigioni;
11 and among the prisoners you see a beautiful woman, and you fal in love with her, and you take herto be your wife	11 e vedrai fra i prigioni una donna di bella forma, e le porrai amore, e te la vorrai prender per moglie;
12 and bring her home; she must shave her head and cut her nails,	12 menala dentro alla tua casa, e radasi ella il capo, e taglisi le unghie;
13 and take off her prisoner's garb; she must stay inside your house and mourn her father and motherfor a full month. You may then go to her and be a husband to her, and she wil be your wife.	13 e levisi d’addosso gli abiti nei quali fu presa, e dimori in casa tua, e pianga suo padre e sua madre un mese intiero; poi potrai entrar da lei, e giacer con lei; ed ella ti sarà moglie.
14 Should she cease to please you, you wil let her go where she wishes, not sel ing her for money: youmust not make any profit out of her, since you have exploited her.	14 E se avviene ch’ella non ti aggradi più, rimandala a sua volontà; e non venderla per danari in modo alcuno; non farne traffico; conciossiachè tu l’abbi sverginata
15 'If a man has two wives, one loved and the other unloved, and the loved one and the unloved bothbear him children, and if the first-born son is of the unloved wife,	15 QUANDO un uomo avrà due mogli, delle quali l’una sia amata, e l’altra odiata; e l’amata e l’odiata gli avranno partoriti figliuoli, e il primogenito sarà dell’odiata;
16 when the man comes to bequeath his goods to his sons, he may not treat the son of the wife whomhe loves as the first-born, at the expense of the son of the wife whom he does not love, the true first-born.	16 nel giorno ch’egli spartirà l’eredità de’ suoi beni a’ suoi figliuoli, egli non potrà far primogenito il figliuol dell’amata, anteponendolo al figliuol dell’odiata, che sarà il primogenito.
17 As his first-born he must acknowledge the son of the wife whom he does not love, giving him adouble share of his estate; this son being the first-fruit of his vigour, the right of the first-born is his.	17 Anzi riconoscerà il primogenito, figliuol dell’odiata, per dargli la parte di due, in tutto ciò che si troverà avere; conciossiachè egli sia il principio della sua forza; a lui appartiene la ragione della primogenitura
18 'If a man has a stubborn and rebel ious son who wil not listen to the voice either of his father or of hismother and, even when they punish him, still wil not pay attention to them,	18 QUANDO alcuno avrà un figliuol ritroso e ribelle, il qual non ubbidisca alla voce di suo padre, nè alla voce di sua madre; e, benchè essi l’abbiano castigato, non però ubbidisca loro;
19 his father and mother must take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate ofthat place.	19 prendanlo suo padre e sua madre, e meninlo fuori agli Anziani della sua città, e alla porta del suo luogo;
20 To the elders of his town, they wil say, "This son of ours is stubborn and rebel ious and will not listento us; he is a wastrel and a drunkard."	20 e dicano agli Anziani della sua città: Questo nostro figliuolo è ritroso e ribelle; egli non vuole ubbidire alla nostra voce; egli è goloso ed ubbriaco.
21 Al his fel ow-citizens must then stone him to death. You must banish this evil from among you. AlIsrael, hearing of this, wil be afraid.	21 E lapidinlo con pietre tutte le genti della sua città, sì che muoia; e così togli il male del mezzo di te; acciocchè tutto Israele oda, e tema.
22 'If a man guilty of a capital offence is to be put to death, and you hang him from a tree,	22 E QUANDO alcuno sarà reo di alcun fallo capitale, e tu l’avrai appiccato al legno;
23 his body must not remain on the tree overnight; you must bury him the same day, since anyonehanged is a curse of God, and you must not bring pollution on the soil which Yahweh your God is giving you asyour heritage.'	23 non dimori il suo corpo morto in sul legno, la notte fino alla mattina; anzi del tutto seppelliscilo in quell’istesso giorno; perciocchè l’appiccato è in esecrazione a Dio; e non contaminare il paese che il Signore Iddio tuo ti dà a possedere
