Deuteronomy 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'Whatever I am now commanding you, you must keep and observe, adding nothing to it, takingnothing away.	1 Osserverete e praticherete tutto ciò che vi ordino: non vi aggiungerai e non ne detrarrai nulla.
2 'If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you, offering you some sign or wonder,	2 Se sorge in mezzo a te un profeta o un sognatore che ti proponga un segno o un prodigio
3 and the sign or wonder comes about; and if he then says to you, "Let us follow other gods (hithertounknown to you) and serve them,"	3 e, avveratosi il segno o il prodigio di cui ti aveva parlato, ti dica: "Seguiamo altri dèi, che tu non hai conosciuto, e serviamoli",
4 you must not listen to that prophet's words or to that dreamer's dreams. Yahweh your God is testingyou to know if you love Yahweh your God with all your heart and al your soul.	4 non ascoltare le parole di questo profeta o sognatore; perché il Signore vostro Dio vi mette alla prova per conoscere se veramente amate il Signore vostro Dio con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta la vostra anima.
5 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fol ow, him you must fear, his commandments you mustkeep, his voice you must obey, him you must serve, to him you must hold fast.	5 Seguirete il Signore vostro Dio, lui temerete, osserverete i suoi precetti, ascolterete la sua voce, servirete e aderirete a lui.
6 That prophet or that dreamer of dreams must be put to death, since he has preached apostasy fromYahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slave-labour; and he wouldhave diverted you from the way in which Yahweh your God has commanded you to walk. You must banish thisevil from among you.	6 Questo profeta o sognatore morirà perché ha proposto una defezione dal Signore vostro Dio, che vi ha fatto uscire dalla terra d'Egitto e ti ha liberato dalla casa di schiavitù, per trascinarti fuori del cammino sul quale il Signore tuo Dio ti ha prescritto di camminare. Così distruggerai il male in mezzo a te.
7 'If your brother, the son of your father or of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the spouse whomyou embrace, or your most intimate friend, tries secretly to seduce you, saying, "Let us go and serve othergods," unknown to you or your ancestors before you,	7 Se tuo fratello, figlio di tuo padre o figlio di tua madre, tuo figlio, tua figlia, la moglie che riposa sul tuo petto, l'amico che è come la tua anima, ti incita in segreto dicendo: "Andiamo a servire altri dèi", che non hai conosciuto né tu né i tuoi padri,
8 gods of the peoples surrounding you, whether near you or far away, anywhere throughout the world,	8 tra le divinità dei popoli che vi circondano, vicini o lontani, da un capo all'altro della terra;
9 you must not consent, you must not listen to him; you must show him no pity, you must not spare himor conceal his guilt.	9 tu non acconsentirai, non gli darai ascolto, il tuo occhio non avrà misericordia di lui, non lo risparmierai né coprirai la sua colpa.
10 No, you must kil him, your hand must strike the first blow in putting him to death and the hands ofthe rest of the people following.	10 Tu dovrai ucciderlo, la tua mano sarà la prima contro di lui per metterlo a morte, quindi la mano di tutto il popolo;
11 You must stone him to death, since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God who broughtyou out of Egypt, from the place of slave-labour.	11 lo lapiderai e morirà, perché ha cercato di allontanarti dal Signore tuo Dio che ti ha fatto uscire dalla terra d'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù.
12 Al Israel, hearing of this, wil be afraid, and none of you wil do such a wicked thing again.	12 Tutto Israele sentirà, avrà paura e non commetterà più un'azione cattiva come questa in mezzo a te.
13 'If you hear that in one of the towns which Yahweh your God has given you for a home,	13 Se senti che in una delle città che il Signore tuo Dio ti concede per abitarvi,
14 there are men, scoundrels from your own stock, who have led their fel ow-citizens astray, saying,"Let us go and serve other gods," hitherto unknown to you,	14 sono usciti da te uomini perversi e hanno sedotto gli abitanti delle loro città dicendo: "Andiamo a servire altri dèi" che non avete conosciuto;
15 it is your duty to look into the matter, examine it, and enquire most careful y. If it is proved andconfirmed that such a hateful thing has taken place among you,	15 tu indagherai, esaminerai e interrogherai con cura. Se la cosa è certa e un tale abominio è stato davvero compiuto in mezzo a te,
16 you must put the inhabitants of that town to the sword; you must lay it under the curse of destruction-- the town and everything in it.	16 devi passare gli abitanti di quella città a fil di spada, votare all'anatema essa e quanto è in essa, e passare a fil di spada anche il suo bestiame;
17 You must pile up al its loot in the public square and burn the town and al its loot, offering it al toYahweh your God. It is to be a ruin for al time, and never rebuilt.	17 ammasserai tutto il bottino in mezzo alla piazza e brucerai nel fuoco la città con tutto il bottino, tutta intera, per il Signore tuo Dio. Diverrà una rovina eterna e non sarà più ricostruita.
18 From what is thus put under the curse of destruction you must keep nothing back, so that Yahwehmay turn from the ferocity of his anger and show you mercy, and have pity on you and increase your numbers,as he swore he would to your ancestors,	18 Non resti attaccato alla tua mano nulla dell'anatema, affinché il Signore desista dalla sua ira ardente e ti conceda misericordia; abbia di te misericordia e ti moltiplichi come ha giurato ai tuoi padri,
19 on condition that you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping al his commandmentswhich I am enjoining on you today, and by doing what is right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.'	19 poiché tu hai ascoltato la voce del Signore tuo Dio, osservando tutti i suoi precetti che oggi ti prescrivo e facendo quanto è retto agli occhi del Signore tuo Dio.
