Deuteronomy 13

1 'Whatever I am now commanding you, you must keep and observe, adding nothing to it, takingnothing away.	1 Fa' in onor del Signore solamente quello che io ti prescrivo: non aggiungere, e non levare.
2 'If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you, offering you some sign or wonder,	2 Quando si levi su in mezzo al tuo popolo un profeta, ovver chi dica di aver avuta visione in sogno, e predirà qualche segno, e prodigio,
3 and the sign or wonder comes about; and if he then says to you, "Let us follow other gods (hithertounknown to you) and serve them,"	3 E succederà quel che egli ha detto, e dirà a te: Andiamo, e seguiamo gli dei stranieri ignoti a te, e ad essi serviamo:
4 you must not listen to that prophet's words or to that dreamer's dreams. Yahweh your God is testingyou to know if you love Yahweh your God with all your heart and al your soul.	4 Non darai retta à quel profeta, o relatore di sogni; perché il Signore Dio vostro fa prova di voi, affinché si faccia manifesto, se lo amiate, o no, con tutto il cuore, e con tutta l’anima vostra.
5 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fol ow, him you must fear, his commandments you mustkeep, his voice you must obey, him you must serve, to him you must hold fast.	5 Seguite il Signore Dio vostro, e lui temete, osservate i suoi comandamenti, e ascoltate la sua voce: lui servite e a lui state uniti.
6 That prophet or that dreamer of dreams must be put to death, since he has preached apostasy fromYahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slave-labour; and he wouldhave diverted you from the way in which Yahweh your God has commanded you to walk. You must banish thisevil from among you.	6 E quel profeta, o inventore di sogni sarà messo a morte: perché ha parlato per alienarvi dal Signore Dio vostro, il qual vi trasse dalla terra d'Egitto, e vi riscattò dalla casa di schiavitù: e per farti andar fuori della strada mostrata a te dal Signore Dio tuo: e tu torrai via da te il cattivo.
7 'If your brother, the son of your father or of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the spouse whomyou embrace, or your most intimate friend, tries secretly to seduce you, saying, "Let us go and serve othergods," unknown to you or your ancestors before you,	7 Se un tuo fratello figliuolo di tua madre, o un tuo figliuolo, o una figlia, ovver la moglie, cui tu porti in seno, o un amico, cui tu ami, come l'anima tua, tenterà di persuaderti, e segretamente dirà a te: Andiamo a servire gli dei stranieri (non conosciuti da te, né dai padri tuoi),
8 gods of the peoples surrounding you, whether near you or far away, anywhere throughout the world,	8 Gli dei di tutte le genti, dalle quali tu sei circondato, o vicine, o rimote, all’una, o all’altra estremità della terra,
9 you must not consent, you must not listen to him; you must show him no pity, you must not spare himor conceal his guilt.	9 Non dargli retta, non ascoltarlo, e non lasciarti muovere dalla compassione e perdonargli, e a nasconderlo;
10 No, you must kil him, your hand must strike the first blow in putting him to death and the hands ofthe rest of the people following.	10 Ma tosto lo ucciderai: tu sarai il primo ad alzar la mano contro di lui, e poi tutto il popolo alzi la mano.
11 You must stone him to death, since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God who broughtyou out of Egypt, from the place of slave-labour.	11 Sepolto sotto le pietre egli morrà: perché volle staccarti dal Signor Dio tuo, che ti trasse dalla terra d'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù:
12 Al Israel, hearing of this, wil be afraid, and none of you wil do such a wicked thing again.	12 Affinché udendo ciò tutto Israele, n'abbia timore, e nissuno mai più faccia cosa simile a questa.
13 'If you hear that in one of the towns which Yahweh your God has given you for a home,	13 Se sentirai dire da alcuni, che in una delle tue città date a te dal Signore Dio tuo per abitarle,
14 there are men, scoundrels from your own stock, who have led their fel ow-citizens astray, saying,"Let us go and serve other gods," hitherto unknown to you,	14 Sieno scappati fuora dimezzo a voi de' figliuoli di Belial, che abbiano sovvertito gli abitanti delle loro città, e abbiano detto: Andiamo a servire agli dei stranieri (che a voi sono ignoti):
15 it is your duty to look into the matter, examine it, and enquire most careful y. If it is proved andconfirmed that such a hateful thing has taken place among you,	15 Informati con sollecitudine, e investigata diligentemente la verità del fatto, se troverai esser certo quello che si dice, e che tale abominazione è stata realmente commessa,
16 you must put the inhabitants of that town to the sword; you must lay it under the curse of destruction-- the town and everything in it.	16 Immediatamente metterai a fil di spada gli abitanti di quella città, e la distruggerai con tutto quel che v’è senza eccettuarne le bestie:
17 You must pile up al its loot in the public square and burn the town and al its loot, offering it al toYahweh your God. It is to be a ruin for al time, and never rebuilt.	17 E tutte le suppellettili, che vi saranno, le adunerai in mezzo alle sue piazze, e le darai alle fiamme insieme colla stessa città, consumando così tutte le cose in onor dei Signore Dio tuo, ed ella sia un sepolcro sempiterno, e mai più sia riedificata,
18 From what is thus put under the curse of destruction you must keep nothing back, so that Yahwehmay turn from the ferocity of his anger and show you mercy, and have pity on you and increase your numbers,as he swore he would to your ancestors,	18 E nissuna cosa di questo anatema resterà nelle tue mani: affinché il Signore calmi l’ira, e il furor suo, e abbia misericordia di te, e ti moltiplichi, come giurò a' padri tuoi,
19 on condition that you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping al his commandmentswhich I am enjoining on you today, and by doing what is right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.'	19 Quando tu ascolterai la voce del Signore Dio tuo, e osserverai tutti i suoi comandamenti, che io oggi ti annunzio per far quello che è accetto dinanzi al Signore Dio tuo.
