Deuteronomy 13

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 'Whatever I am now commanding you, you must keep and observe, adding nothing to it, takingnothing away.	1 - Se di mezzo a te venga fuori un profeta, o uno che dica d'aver avuto una visione e predica qualche prodigio o portento,
2 'If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you, offering you some sign or wonder,	2 e quello ch'egli ha detto si verifichi, ma poi egli ti dica: - Andiamo dietro agli dèi stranieri che tu non conosci, e serviamo loro; -
3 and the sign or wonder comes about; and if he then says to you, "Let us follow other gods (hithertounknown to you) and serve them,"	3 non darai ascolto alle parole di quel profeta o visionario, perchè il Signore Dio vostro vi mette a prova, acciò si faccia manifesto se lo amate o no con tutto il cuore e con tutta l'anima.
4 you must not listen to that prophet's words or to that dreamer's dreams. Yahweh your God is testingyou to know if you love Yahweh your God with all your heart and al your soul.	4 Seguite il Signore Dio vostro; lui temete, osservate i suoi comandamenti, ed ascoltate la sua voce; a lui servite, ed a lui state uniti;
5 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fol ow, him you must fear, his commandments you mustkeep, his voice you must obey, him you must serve, to him you must hold fast.	5 ma quel profeta o inventore di sogni sia messo a morte, perchè ha parlato per farvi ribellare al Signore Dio vostro il quale vi cavò dall'Egitto e vi liberò dal luogo di schiavitù, e per farti errare fuor della via che il Signore Dio tuo t'ha segnata; perciò estirperai di mezzo a te quel malanno.
6 That prophet or that dreamer of dreams must be put to death, since he has preached apostasy fromYahweh your God who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slave-labour; and he wouldhave diverted you from the way in which Yahweh your God has commanded you to walk. You must banish thisevil from among you.	6 Se il tuo fratello figlio della madre tua, o il figlio tuo o la figlia, o la moglie che ti sta a lato, o l'amico che ami come l'anima tua, ti vorrà persuadere dicendoti di nascosto: - Andiamo, e serviamo agli dèi stranieri che tu ed i tuoi padri non avete conosciuti,
7 'If your brother, the son of your father or of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the spouse whomyou embrace, or your most intimate friend, tries secretly to seduce you, saying, "Let us go and serve othergods," unknown to you or your ancestors before you,	7 di tutte le nazioni che ci stanno intorno, vicine o lontane, da un estremo della terra all'altro; -
8 gods of the peoples surrounding you, whether near you or far away, anywhere throughout the world,	8 non gli dar retta, non l'ascoltare, non ti lasciar prendere dalla compassione per lui, e non lo nascondere,
9 you must not consent, you must not listen to him; you must show him no pity, you must not spare himor conceal his guilt.	9 ma subito uccidilo. Sii tu il primo a stender la mano contro di lui, e poi tutto il popolo faccia altrettanto.
10 No, you must kil him, your hand must strike the first blow in putting him to death and the hands ofthe rest of the people following.	10 Preso a sassate, morrà; perchè voleva allontanarti dal Signore Dio tuo che ti cavò dall'Egitto, dal luogo di schiavitù.
11 You must stone him to death, since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God who broughtyou out of Egypt, from the place of slave-labour.	11 Così tutto Israele, ciò udendo, avrà timore, e non vi sarà mai più chi faccia cosa di questo genere.
12 Al Israel, hearing of this, wil be afraid, and none of you wil do such a wicked thing again.	12 Se in una delle tue città, date a te per abitazione dal Signore Dio tuo, udrai dir da qualcuno:
13 'If you hear that in one of the towns which Yahweh your God has given you for a home,	13 - I figli di Belial son venuti fuori di mezzo a te, hanno sovvertito gli abitanti della loro città, ed han detto: "Su, via, adoriamo gli dèi stranieri che voi non conoscete", -
14 there are men, scoundrels from your own stock, who have led their fel ow-citizens astray, saying,"Let us go and serve other gods," hitherto unknown to you,	14 informati sollecitamente, e ricercata con diligenza la verità delle cose, se troverai esser vero quel che si dice, e che una tal abominazione fu veramente perpetrata,
15 it is your duty to look into the matter, examine it, and enquire most careful y. If it is proved andconfirmed that such a hateful thing has taken place among you,	15 subito passerai a fil di spada gli abitanti di quella città, e questa distruggerai con tutto quello che vi si trova, sin anco gli animali.
16 you must put the inhabitants of that town to the sword; you must lay it under the curse of destruction-- the town and everything in it.	16 Tutto quel che vi sarà di sostanze, l'ammasserai in mezzo alle sue piazze, e lo darai alle fiamme con la città stessa, in modo che tutto sia consumato in onore del Signore Dio tuo, e rimanga un sepolcro in perpetuo. Non sarà più riedificata,
17 You must pile up al its loot in the public square and burn the town and al its loot, offering it al toYahweh your God. It is to be a ruin for al time, and never rebuilt.	17 e niente di quelle cose maledette rimarrà in mano tua. Così si placherà il Signore dal suo sdegno e dalla sua collera, ed avrà misericordia di te, e ti farà moltiplicare come giurò ai padri tuoi,
18 From what is thus put under the curse of destruction you must keep nothing back, so that Yahwehmay turn from the ferocity of his anger and show you mercy, and have pity on you and increase your numbers,as he swore he would to your ancestors,	18 se udrai la voce del Signore Dio tuo, osservando tutt'i suoi comandamenti che io oggi ti notifico, e facendo quello ch'è accetto nel cospetto del Signore Dio tuo.
19 on condition that you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping al his commandmentswhich I am enjoining on you today, and by doing what is right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.'
