NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 He went on to speak to them in parables, 'A man planted a vineyard; he fenced it round, dug out atrough for the winepress and built a tower; then he leased it to tenants and went abroad.	1 Poi incominciò a dir loro in parabola: "Un uomo piantò una vigna, la cinse con una siepe, vi scavò un frantoio, vi costruì una torre, l'affittò a coloni e partì per un viaggio.
2 When the time came, he sent a servant to the tenants to col ect from them his share of the produce ofthe vineyard.	2 A suo tempo mandò dai coloni un suo servo per avere da essi la sua parte di frutti della vigna.
3 But they seized the man, thrashed him and sent him away empty handed.	3 Ma quelli, presolo, lo percossero e lo rimandarono a mani vuote.
4 Next he sent another servant to them; him they beat about the head and treated shameful y.	4 Allora egli mandò di nuovo un altro servo; ma gli ruppero la testa e insultarono anche lui.
5 And he sent another and him they kil ed; then a number of others, and they thrashed some and killedthe rest.	5 Ne mandò un altro e l'uccisero. Così fu pure per molti altri, che percossero o uccisero.
6 He had still someone left: his beloved son. He sent him to them last of al , thinking, "They wil respectmy son."	6 Gli restava ancora uno: il suo figlio diletto. Inviò anche lui per ultimo, dicendosi: Rispetteranno mio figlio!
7 But those tenants said to each other, "This is the heir. Come on, let us kil him, and the inheritance wilbe ours."	7 Quei coloni, invece, si dissero l'un l'altro: "Costui è l'erede! Venite, uccidiamolo e l'eredità sarà nostra!".
8 So they seized him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard.	8 E presolo, lo uccisero e lo gettarono fuori della vigna.
9 Now what wil the owner of the vineyard do? He wil come and make an end of the tenants and givethe vineyard to others.	9 Che cosa farà il padrone della vigna? Verrà, sterminerà i coloni e affiderà la vigna ad altri.
10 Have you not read this text of scripture: The stone which the builders rejected has become thecornerstone;	10 Non avete letto questo passo della Scrittura: La pietra che i costruttori hanno scartata è diventata pietra angolare:
11 this is the Lord's doing, and we marvel at it ?'	11 dal Signore è stato fatto ciò ed è cosa meravigliosa ai nostri occhi?".
12 And they would have liked to arrest him, because they realised that the parable was aimed at them,but they were afraid of the crowds. So they left him alone and went away.	12 Allora essi cercavano di impadronirsi di lui; ma ebbero paura della folla. Avevano compreso, infatti, che egli aveva detto questa parabola per loro. Perciò, lasciatolo, se ne andarono via.
13 Next they sent to him some Pharisees and some Herodians to catch him out in what he said.	13 Gli mandarono alcuni farisei ed erodiani per coglierlo in fallo in qualche parola.
14 These came and said to him, 'Master, we know that you are an honest man, that you are not afraid ofanyone, because human rank means nothing to you, and that you teach the way of God in al honesty. Is itpermissible to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or not?'	14 Raggiuntolo, costoro gli dicono: "Maestro, sappiamo che sei sincero e non ti preoccupi di nessuno, poiché non guardi in faccia alle persone, ma insegni la via di Dio secondo verità. E' lecito o no pagare il tributo a Cesare? Dobbiamo pagarlo o no?".
15 Recognising their hypocrisy he said to them, 'Why are you putting me to the test? Hand me adenarius and let me see it.'	15 Ma egli, avendo conosciuta la loro falsità, disse loro: "Perché mi tentate? Portatemi un denaro, perché lo veda".
16 They handed him one and he said to them, 'Whose portrait is this? Whose title?' They said to him,'Caesar's.'	16 Glielo portarono ed egli domandò loro: "Di chi è questa immagine e l'iscrizione?". Risposero: "Di Cesare".
17 Jesus said to them, 'Pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar -- and God what belongs to God.' And theywere amazed at him.	17 Allora Gesù disse loro: "Rendete a Cesare quel che è di Cesare e a Dio quel che è di Dio". Ed essi ne rimasero stupiti.
18 Then some Sadducees -- who deny that there is a resurrection -- came to him and they put thisquestion to him,	18 Vennero pure dei sadducei, i quali dicono che non c'è risurrezione. Gli domandarono:
19 'Master, Moses prescribed for us that if a man's brother dies leaving a wife but no child, the manmust marry the widow to raise up children for his brother.	19 "Maestro, Mosè ha scritto per noi: Se il fratello di uno muore e lascia la moglie e non lascia un figlio, il di lui fratello prenda la donna e susciti prole al proprio fratello.
20 Now there were seven brothers; the first married a wife and then died leaving no children.	20 Or c'erano sette fratelli. Il primo prese moglie, ma morì e non lasciò prole.
21 The second married the widow, and he too died leaving no children; with the third it was the same,	21 La prese il secondo, ma anch'egli morì senza lasciar prole. Allo stesso modo fece il terzo...
22 and none of the seven left any children. Last of al the woman herself died.	22 Tutti e sette non lasciarono prole e alla fine morì anche la donna.
23 Now at the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife wil she be, since she had been married toal seven?'	23 Alla risurrezione, quando essi risorgeranno, di chi ella sarà moglie, giacché tutti e sette l'ebbero per moglie?".
24 Jesus said to them, 'Surely the reason why you are wrong is that you understand neither thescriptures nor the power of God.	24 Rispose loro Gesù: "Non è proprio per questo che voi siete in errore: perché, cioè, non conoscete né le Scritture né la potenza di Dio?
25 For when they rise from the dead, men and women do not marry; no, they are like the angels inheaven.	25 Infatti, quando risorgeranno dai morti, non si ammoglieranno né si mariteranno, ma saranno come angeli in cielo.
26 Now about the dead rising again, have you never read in the Book of Moses, in the passage aboutthe bush, how God spoke to him and said: I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?	26 Riguardo, poi, ai morti che vengono risuscitati, non avete letto nel libro di Mosè, nel passo del roveto, come Dio gli disse: Io sono il Dio di Abramo, il Dio di Isacco e il Dio di Giacobbe?
27 He is God, not of the dead, but of the living. You are very much mistaken.'	27 Egli, dunque, non è Dio dei morti, ma dei vivi. Per questo voi siete gravemente in errore".
28 One of the scribes who had listened to them debating appreciated that Jesus had given a goodanswer and put a further question to him, 'Which is the first of al the commandments?'	28 Allora gli si avvicinò uno scriba che li aveva sentiti discutere e, avendo visto che Gesù aveva risposto bene, gli domandò: "Qual è il primo di tutti i comandamenti?".
29 Jesus replied, 'This is the first: Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one, only Lord,	29 Gli rispose Gesù: "Il primo è: Ascolta, Israele. Il Signore nostro Dio è l'unico Signore
30 and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with al your mind and withal your strength.	30 e tu amerai il Signore tuo Dio con tutto il tuo cuore, con tutta la tua anima, con tutta la tua mente e con tutta la tua forza.
31 The second is this: You must love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greaterthan these.'	31 Il secondo è questo: Amerai il prossimo tuo come te stesso. Non c'è altro comandamento maggiore di questi".
32 The scribe said to him, 'Well spoken, Master; what you have said is true, that he is one and there isno other.	32 Gli disse lo scriba: "Bene, Maestro. Hai detto giustamente che Egli è unico e che non c'è altri all'infuori di lui;
33 To love him with al your heart, with al your understanding and strength, and to love your neighbouras yourself, this is far more important than any burnt offering or sacrifice.'	33 che amare lui con tutto il cuore, con tutta l'intelligenza, con tutta la forza e amare il prossimo come se stessi vale più di tutti gli olocausti e i sacrifici".
34 Jesus, seeing how wisely he had spoken, said, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.' And afterthat no one dared to question him any more.	34 Vedendo che aveva risposto saggiamente, allora Gesù gli disse: "Non sei lontano dal regno di Dio". E nessuno osava fargli più domande.
35 While teaching in the Temple, Jesus said, 'How can the scribes maintain that the Christ is the son ofDavid?	35 Prendendo la parola, mentre stava insegnando nel tempio, Gesù domandò: "Come mai gli scribi dicono che il Messia è figlio di Davide?
36 David himself, moved by the Holy Spirit, said: The Lord declared to my Lord, take your seat at myright hand til I have made your enemies your footstool.	36 Davide stesso, infatti, mosso dallo Spirito Santo, ha detto: Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra, finché io ponga i tuoi nemici sgabello ai tuoi piedi.
37 David himself calls him Lord; in what way then can he be his son?' And the great crowd listened tohim with delight.	37 Se, dunque, Davide stesso lo chiama "Signore", come può essere suo figlio?". E la folla, numerosa, lo ascoltava con piacere.
38 In his teaching he said, 'Beware of the scribes who like to walk about in long robes, to be greetedrespectfully in the market squares,	38 Diceva ancora, durante il suo insegnamento: "Guardatevi dagli scribi, i quali amano passeggiare in lunghe vesti ed essere salutati nelle piazze, occupare i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe
39 to take the front seats in the synagogues and the places of honour at banquets;	39 e sedere ai primi posti nei banchetti;
40 these are the men who devour the property of widows and for show offer long prayers. The moresevere wil be the sentence they receive.'	40 divorano le case delle vedove e fanno finta di pregare a lungo. Riceveranno una più dura condanna".
41 He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the treasury, andmany of the rich put in a great deal.	41 Seduto davanti al tesoro, Gesù stava osservando come la gente gettava il denaro nel tesoro. C'erano molte persone ricche, che ne gettavano molto.
42 A poor widow came and put in two smal coins, the equivalent of a penny.	42 Giunta, però, una povera vedova, vi gettò due spiccioli, che sono l'equivalente di un quadrante.
43 Then he cal ed his disciples and said to them, 'In truth I tell you, this poor widow has put more in thanal who have contributed to the treasury;	43 Allora egli, chiamati a sé i suoi discepoli, disse loro: "In verità vi dico: questa povera vedova ha gettato più di tutti quelli che hanno gettato denaro nel tesoro.
44 for they have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in everything shepossessed, all she had to live on.'	44 Tutti, infatti, hanno dato del loro superfluo; ma essa, nella sua indigenza, ha gettato tutto ciò che aveva, tutto il suo sostentamento".
