1 He went on to speak to them in parables, 'A man planted a vineyard; he fenced it round, dug out atrough for the winepress and built a tower; then he leased it to tenants and went abroad.	1 E cominciò a parlare ad essi per via di parabole: Un uomo piantò una vigna, e la cinse di siepe, e vi fece uno strettojo, e vi fabbricò una torre, e l'affittò ai contadini, e partì per lontan paese.
2 When the time came, he sent a servant to the tenants to col ect from them his share of the produce ofthe vineyard.	2 E mandò a suo tempo dai contadini un suo servitore, per riscuoter la parte de' frutti della vigna.
3 But they seized the man, thrashed him and sent him away empty handed.	3 Ma quelli, presolo, lo batterono, e lo rimandarono colle mani vote.
4 Next he sent another servant to them; him they beat about the head and treated shameful y.	4 E di nuovo mandò ad essi un altro servo: e questo pure lo ferirono nella testa, e lo trattarono obbrobriosamente.
5 And he sent another and him they kil ed; then a number of others, and they thrashed some and killedthe rest.	5 E ne mandò di nuovo un altro, e questo l'ammazzarono: e di altri molti alcuni ne batterono, altri ne uccisero.
6 He had still someone left: his beloved son. He sent him to them last of al , thinking, "They wil respectmy son."	6 Non restandogli adunque più, se non un solo figliuolo diletto, mandò da ultimo anche questo da essi, dicendo: Avran rispetto per mio figliuolo.
7 But those tenants said to each other, "This is the heir. Come on, let us kil him, and the inheritance wilbe ours."	7 Ma i vignaiuoli dissero tra di loro: Questi è l'erede: su via, ammazziamolo: e sarà nostra l'eredità.
8 So they seized him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard.	8 E presolo, lo ammazzarono, e lo gettarono fuori della vigna.
9 Now what wil the owner of the vineyard do? He wil come and make an end of the tenants and givethe vineyard to others.	9 Che farà adunque il padron della vigna? Verrà, e sterminerà i fittajuoli: e darà ad altri la vigna.
10 Have you not read this text of scripture: The stone which the builders rejected has become thecornerstone;	10 E non avete voi letto questa scrittura: La pietra rigettata da coloro, che fabbricavano, quella stessa è diventata pietra fondamentale dell'angolo.
11 this is the Lord's doing, and we marvel at it ?'	11 Dal Signore è stata fatta tal cosa: ed ella è mirabile negli occhi nostri?
12 And they would have liked to arrest him, because they realised that the parable was aimed at them,but they were afraid of the crowds. So they left him alone and went away.	12 E tentavan di mettergli le mani addosso: imperocché intesero, che questa parabola l'aveva detta per loro; ma ebber paura delle turbe. E lasciatolo, se ne andarono.
13 Next they sent to him some Pharisees and some Herodians to catch him out in what he said.	13 E mandaron da lui alcuni de' Farisei, e degli Erodiani, per coglierlo in parole.
14 These came and said to him, 'Master, we know that you are an honest man, that you are not afraid ofanyone, because human rank means nothing to you, and that you teach the way of God in al honesty. Is itpermissible to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or not?'	14 Venuti costoro, gli dissero: Maestro, noi sappiamo, che sei verace, e non hai riguardo a chicchessia: conciossiachè non guardi in faccia gli uomini; ma insegni la via di Dio con verità: è lecito, che si paghi il tributo a Cesare, o nol pagheremo?
15 Recognising their hypocrisy he said to them, 'Why are you putting me to the test? Hand me adenarius and let me see it.'	15 Gesù conoscendo la loro malizia, disse loro: Perché mi tentate voi? Recatemi un denaro, perché lo vegga.
16 They handed him one and he said to them, 'Whose portrait is this? Whose title?' They said to him,'Caesar's.'	16 E glielo presentarono. Ed egli disse loro: Di chi è questa impronta, e questa iscrizione? Risposer: Di Cesare?
17 Jesus said to them, 'Pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar -- and God what belongs to God.' And theywere amazed at him.	17 E Gesù ripigliò, e disse loro: Rendete adunque quel, che è di Cesare, a Cesare: e quel, che è di Dio, a Dio. Ed eglino lo ammiravano.
18 Then some Sadducees -- who deny that there is a resurrection -- came to him and they put thisquestion to him,	18 E andaron da lui i Sadducei, i quali negano la risurrezione: e lo interrogarono con dire:
19 'Master, Moses prescribed for us that if a man's brother dies leaving a wife but no child, the manmust marry the widow to raise up children for his brother.	19 Maestro, ci ha ordinato Mosè, che se il fratello d'uno venga a morire, lasciando la moglie senza figliuoli, il fratello sposi la moglie di lui, e ravvivi la stirpe di suo fratello.
20 Now there were seven brothers; the first married a wife and then died leaving no children.	20 Or eranvi sette fratelli: e il primo si ammogliò, e morì, senza lasciar figliuoli.
21 The second married the widow, and he too died leaving no children; with the third it was the same,	21 E il secondo prese la di lui moglie, e morì: e non lasciò nemmen esso figliuoli. E similmente il terzo.
22 and none of the seven left any children. Last of al the woman herself died.	22 E nella stessa guisa sette l'ebbero per moglie: e non lasciaron figliuoli. Finalmente ultima di tutti morì anche la donna.
23 Now at the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife wil she be, since she had been married toal seven?'	23 Nella risurrezione adunque, tornati che siano a vivere, di chi di questi sarà ella moglie? Imperocché sette l'hanno avuta per moglie.
24 Jesus said to them, 'Surely the reason why you are wrong is that you understand neither thescriptures nor the power of God.	24 Ma Gesù rispose loro, e disse: Non siete voi in inganno per questo, perché non intendete le scritture, né la potenza di Dio?
25 For when they rise from the dead, men and women do not marry; no, they are like the angels inheaven.	25 Imperocché risuscitati che siano, né gli uomini prenderan moglie, né le donne saran date a marito; ma saranno quali gli Angeli di Dio nel cielo.
26 Now about the dead rising again, have you never read in the Book of Moses, in the passage aboutthe bush, how God spoke to him and said: I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?	26 Che poi i morti risorgano, non avete voi letto nel libro di Mosé, in qual modo Dio parlò a lui nel roveto, dicendo: Io sono il Dio d'Abramo, e il Dio d'Isacco, e il Dio di Giacobbe?
27 He is God, not of the dead, but of the living. You are very much mistaken.'	27 Ei non è il Dio de' morti, ma de' vivi. Voi siete adunque in grande errore.
28 One of the scribes who had listened to them debating appreciated that Jesus had given a goodanswer and put a further question to him, 'Which is the first of al the commandments?'	28 E si accostò uno degli Scribi, che aveva udite le interrogazioni di coloro, e vedendo, che Gesù aveva loro risposto bene, domandogli, quale fosse il primo di tutti i comandamenti.
29 Jesus replied, 'This is the first: Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one, only Lord,	29 E Gesù risposagli: Il primo di tutti i comandamenti egli è: Senti, Israele: il Signore Dio tuo è un Dio solo.
30 and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with al your mind and withal your strength.	30 E amerai il Signore Dio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore, e con tutta l'anima tua, e con tutto il tuo spirito, e con tutto il tuo potere. Questo è il primo comandamento.
31 The second is this: You must love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greaterthan these.'	31 Il secondo poi è simile a questo: Amerai il prossimo tuo, come te stesso. Altro comandamento maggior di questi non v'è.
32 The scribe said to him, 'Well spoken, Master; what you have said is true, that he is one and there isno other.	32 E lo Scriba gli rispose: Maestro, hai detto benissimo, e con tutta verità, che v' è un solo Dio, e non ve n' è altro fuori di lui.
33 To love him with al your heart, with al your understanding and strength, and to love your neighbouras yourself, this is far more important than any burnt offering or sacrifice.'	33 E che l'amarlo con tutto il cuore, con tutto l'intelletto, e con tutta l'anima, e con tutte le forze: e l'amare il prossimo, come se stesso, val più di tatti gli olocausti, e sagrifizj.
34 Jesus, seeing how wisely he had spoken, said, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.' And afterthat no one dared to question him any more.	34 Vedendo Gesù, com' egli aveva saviamente risposto, gli disse: Non se' lungi dal regno di Dio. E da indi in poi nissuno ardiva d'interrogarlo.
35 While teaching in the Temple, Jesus said, 'How can the scribes maintain that the Christ is the son ofDavid?	35 E ragionando Gesù, e insegnando nel tempio, diceva: In che modo dicono gli Scribi: che il Cristo è figliuolo di Davidde?
36 David himself, moved by the Holy Spirit, said: The Lord declared to my Lord, take your seat at myright hand til I have made your enemies your footstool.	36 Conciossiachè lo stesso Davidde disse per Ispirito santo: Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra, sino a tanto che io abbia messi i tuoi nemici per isgabello a' tuoi piedi.
37 David himself calls him Lord; in what way then can he be his son?' And the great crowd listened tohim with delight.	37 Lo stesso Davidde adunque lo chiama Signore: come adunque è suo figliuolo? E la molta turba lo udì con piacere.
38 In his teaching he said, 'Beware of the scribes who like to walk about in long robes, to be greetedrespectfully in the market squares,	38 E diceva loro nelle sue istruzioni: Guardatevi dagli Scribi, i quali ambiscono di passeggiare in lunghe vesti, e di essere salutati nelle piazze,
39 to take the front seats in the synagogues and the places of honour at banquets;	39 E di avere le prime sedie nelle adunanze, e i primi posti ne' conviti:
40 these are the men who devour the property of widows and for show offer long prayers. The moresevere wil be the sentence they receive.'	40 I quali divorano le case delle vedove col pretesto di lunghe orazioni: costoro saranno più rigorosamente giudicati.
41 He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the treasury, andmany of the rich put in a great deal.	41 E sedendo Gesù dirimpetto al gazofilaccio, osservava, come il popolo vi gettava del denaro, e molti ricchi ne gettavano in copia.
42 A poor widow came and put in two smal coins, the equivalent of a penny.	42 Ed essendo poi venuta una povera vedova, vi mise due piccole monete, che fanno un quadrante.
43 Then he cal ed his disciples and said to them, 'In truth I tell you, this poor widow has put more in thanal who have contributed to the treasury;	43 E chiamati a se i suoi discepoli, disse loro: In verità vi dico, che questa povera vedova ha dato più di tutti quelli, che han messo nel gazofilaccio.
44 for they have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in everything shepossessed, all she had to live on.'	44 Imperocché tutti hanno dato di quel, che loro sopravanzava: ma costei del suo necessario ha messo tutto quel, che aveva, tutto il suo sostentamento.
