1 He went on to speak to them in parables, 'A man planted a vineyard; he fenced it round, dug out atrough for the winepress and built a tower; then he leased it to tenants and went abroad.	1 - Gesù si pose allora a conversare in parabole: «Un uomo piantò la vigna, la cinse di siepe, vi scavò un luogo da spremervi l'uva e vi edificò una torre; poi l'affittò a coloni e si mise in viaggio.
2 When the time came, he sent a servant to the tenants to col ect from them his share of the produce ofthe vineyard.	2 A suo tempo mandò ai coloni un servo per riscuotere una parte dei frutti della vigna.
3 But they seized the man, thrashed him and sent him away empty handed.	3 Ma quelli, presolo, lo percossero e lo rimandarono a mani vuote.
4 Next he sent another servant to them; him they beat about the head and treated shameful y.	4 Allora mandò loro un altro servo; e anche lui ferirono alla testa e svillaneggiarono.
5 And he sent another and him they kil ed; then a number of others, and they thrashed some and killedthe rest.	5 Ne mandò un terzo, che venne ucciso; e poi molti altri, dei quali, alcuni furon battuti, altri uccisi.
6 He had still someone left: his beloved son. He sent him to them last of al , thinking, "They wil respectmy son."	6 Gli restava un figlio unico, che gli era molto caro e lo mandò loro per ultimo, dicendo: - Avranno riguardo al mio figliuolo.-
7 But those tenants said to each other, "This is the heir. Come on, let us kil him, and the inheritance wilbe ours."	7 Ma i coloni, si dissero l'un l'altro: - Costui è l'erede; venite, uccidiamolo e l'eredità sarà nostra.-
8 So they seized him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard.	8 Presolo pertanto, l'uccisero e lo gettaron fuori della vigna.
9 Now what wil the owner of the vineyard do? He wil come and make an end of the tenants and givethe vineyard to others.	9 Che farà dunque il padrone della vigna? Verrà e sterminerà quei coloni e darà la sua vigna ad altri.
10 Have you not read this text of scripture: The stone which the builders rejected has become thecornerstone;	10 Non avete letto questo passo della Scrittura: "La pietra che i costruttori hanno riprovata è divenuta pietra angolare:
11 this is the Lord's doing, and we marvel at it ?'	11 dal Signore è stato fatto ciò ed è cosa meravigliosa agli occhi nostri"?».
12 And they would have liked to arrest him, because they realised that the parable was aimed at them,but they were afraid of the crowds. So they left him alone and went away.	12 Ed essi cercavano di pigliarlo, perchè compresero che questa parabola era stata detta per loro; ma ebbero paura del popolo, e lasciatolo, se ne andarono.
13 Next they sent to him some Pharisees and some Herodians to catch him out in what he said.	13 Allora gli mandarono alcuni Farisei ed Erodiani per prenderlo in fallo mentre parlava.
14 These came and said to him, 'Master, we know that you are an honest man, that you are not afraid ofanyone, because human rank means nothing to you, and that you teach the way of God in al honesty. Is itpermissible to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or not?'	14 Venuti costoro, gli dissero: «Maestro, noi sappiamo che sei veritiero e non ti preoccupi di alcuni, perchè non guardi in faccia alle persone, ma insegni la via di Dio secondo verità. È lecito o no pagare il tributo a Cesare? Lo dobbiamo dare o no?».
15 Recognising their hypocrisy he said to them, 'Why are you putting me to the test? Hand me adenarius and let me see it.'	15 Egli conoscendo la loro malizia, esclamò: «Perchè mi tentate? Portatemi un danaro da vedere».
16 They handed him one and he said to them, 'Whose portrait is this? Whose title?' They said to him,'Caesar's.'	16 Glielo presentarono ed egli chiese: «Di chi è quest'immagine e l'iscrizione?». Gli risposero: «Di Cesare».
17 Jesus said to them, 'Pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar -- and God what belongs to God.' And theywere amazed at him.	17 «Ebbene», replicò Gesù «date a Cesare quel ch'è di Cesare e a Dio quel ch'è di Dio». E si meravigliarono di lui.
18 Then some Sadducees -- who deny that there is a resurrection -- came to him and they put thisquestion to him,	18 Poi vennero da lui alcuni Sadducei, i quali negano la resurrezione, e gli fecero questa domanda:
19 'Master, Moses prescribed for us that if a man's brother dies leaving a wife but no child, the manmust marry the widow to raise up children for his brother.	19 «Maestro, Mosè ci lasciò scritto: "Se uno ha un fratello che morendo lasci la moglie senza figli, ne sposi lui la moglie e susciti la prole del fratello".
20 Now there were seven brothers; the first married a wife and then died leaving no children.	20 Ora c'erano sette fratelli; il primo prese moglie e morì senza lasciar figli.
21 The second married the widow, and he too died leaving no children; with the third it was the same,	21 Il secondo sposò la vedova e morì senza lasciar figli. E così il terzo
22 and none of the seven left any children. Last of al the woman herself died.	22 e così tutti e sette non lasciarono prole. Ultima di tutti, morì anche la donna.
23 Now at the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife wil she be, since she had been married toal seven?'	23 Nella resurrezione; quando saranno resuscitati a chi di costoro sarà essa moglie, mentre tutti e sette l'hanno sposata?».
24 Jesus said to them, 'Surely the reason why you are wrong is that you understand neither thescriptures nor the power of God.	24 Gesù rispose: «Voi siete in errore, perchè non comprendete nè le Scritture nè la potenza di Dio:
25 For when they rise from the dead, men and women do not marry; no, they are like the angels inheaven.	25 mentre, quando risorgeranno dai morti, nè si ammoglieranno, nè si mariteranno, ma saranno come angeli in cielo.
26 Now about the dead rising again, have you never read in the Book of Moses, in the passage aboutthe bush, how God spoke to him and said: I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?	26 Quanto poi alla resurrezione dei morti, non avete letto nel libro di Mosè, nel passo del roveto, ciò che disse il Signore: - Io sono il Dio d'Abramo, il Dio d'Isacco e il Dio di Giacobbe -?
27 He is God, not of the dead, but of the living. You are very much mistaken.'	27 Egli non è il Dio dei morti, ma dei vivi. Voi dunque siete in grave errore».
28 One of the scribes who had listened to them debating appreciated that Jesus had given a goodanswer and put a further question to him, 'Which is the first of al the commandments?'	28 Uno degli Scribi, che li aveva uditi discutere, vedendo ch'egli aveva loro ben risposto, gli s'avvicinò e gli domandò: «Qual è il primo fra tutti i comandamenti?».
29 Jesus replied, 'This is the first: Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one, only Lord,	29 Gesù rispose: «Il primo di tutti è: "Ascolta Israele: il Signore Dio nostro è l'unico Signore:
30 and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with al your mind and withal your strength.	30 ama dunque il Signore tuo Dio con tutto il tuo cuore, con tutta la tua anima, con tutta la tua mente e con tutta la tua forza". Questo è il primo comandamento.
31 The second is this: You must love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greaterthan these.'	31 Il secondo poi è simile a questo: "Ama il tuo prossimo come te stesso". Non vi è altro comandamento maggiore di questo».
32 The scribe said to him, 'Well spoken, Master; what you have said is true, that he is one and there isno other.	32 E lo Scriba gli disse: «Maestro, hai detto bene e con verità che vi è un Dio unico e che fuor di lui non ve n'è alcun altro,
33 To love him with al your heart, with al your understanding and strength, and to love your neighbouras yourself, this is far more important than any burnt offering or sacrifice.'	33 e che l'amarlo con tutto il cuore, con tutte le forze e amare il prossimo come se stesso, vale assai più che tutti gli olocausti e tutti i sacrifici».
34 Jesus, seeing how wisely he had spoken, said, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.' And afterthat no one dared to question him any more.	34 Gesù vedendo che colui aveva risposto assennatamente, gli disse: «Tu non sei lontano dal regno di Dio». E nessuno ardiva più interrogarlo.
35 While teaching in the Temple, Jesus said, 'How can the scribes maintain that the Christ is the son ofDavid?	35 Gesù, insegnando nel tempio, domandò: «Come fanno gli Scribi a dire che il Cristo è figliuol di David,
36 David himself, moved by the Holy Spirit, said: The Lord declared to my Lord, take your seat at myright hand til I have made your enemies your footstool.	36 mentre lo stesso David, ispirato dallo Spirito Santo, disse: - il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: "Siedi alla mia destra, finchè io non ponga i tuoi nemici sgabello ai tuoi piedi"-?
37 David himself calls him Lord; in what way then can he be his son?' And the great crowd listened tohim with delight.	37 Se lo stesso David dunque, lo chiama Signore; come può egli esserne il figlio?». E una folla numerosa lo ascoltava volentieri.
38 In his teaching he said, 'Beware of the scribes who like to walk about in long robes, to be greetedrespectfully in the market squares,	38 E diceva loro nel suo insegnamento: «Guardatevi dagli Scribi, i quali ambiscono di passeggiare in lunghe vesti e d'essere salutati nelle piazze
39 to take the front seats in the synagogues and the places of honour at banquets;	39 e d'avere i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe e i primi posti nei conviti;
40 these are the men who devour the property of widows and for show offer long prayers. The moresevere wil be the sentence they receive.'	40 essi divorano le case delle vedove e pregano a lungo in presenza degli altri: costoro avranno una condanna più rigorosa».
41 He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the treasury, andmany of the rich put in a great deal.	41 Postosi a sedere dinanzi al gazofilacio, stava attento a vedere il popolo gettare denaro nella cassa; molti ricchi ne gettavano assai.
42 A poor widow came and put in two smal coins, the equivalent of a penny.	42 Venuta poi una povera vedova, ci mise due spiccioli, cioè un quadrante.
43 Then he cal ed his disciples and said to them, 'In truth I tell you, this poor widow has put more in thanal who have contributed to the treasury;	43 Allora Gesù chiamati i discepoli, disse loro: «In verità vi dico, questa povera vedova ha dato più di tutti quelli che gettarono offerte nel gazofilacio:
44 for they have al put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in everything shepossessed, all she had to live on.'	44 perchè tutti hanno dato dal loro superfluo, ma costei, nella sua povertà, ha gettato tutto quanto possedeva, tutto ciò che aveva per vivere».
