Matthew 19

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and he left Galilee and came into the territory ofJudaea on the far side of the Jordan.	1 Y sucedió que, cuando acabó Jesús estos discursos, partió de Galilea y fue a la región de Judea, al otro lado del Jordán.
2 Large crowds fol owed him and he healed them there.	2 Le siguió mucha gente, y los curó allí.
3 Some Pharisees approached him, and to put him to the test they said, 'Is it against the Law for a manto divorce his wife on any pretext whatever?'	3 Y se le acercaron unos fariseos que, para ponerle a prueba, le dijeron: «¿Puede uno repudiar a su mujer por un motivo cualquiera?»
4 He answered, 'Have you not read that the Creator from the beginning made them male and female	4 El respondió: «¿No habéis leído que el Creador, desde el comienzo, los hizo varón y hembra,
5 and that he said: This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife,and the two become one flesh?	5 y que dijo: Por eso dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre y se unirá a su mujer, y los dos se harán una sola carne?
6 They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh. So then, what God has united, human beings mustnot divide.'	6 De manera que ya no son dos, sino una sola carne. Pues bien, lo que Dios unió no lo separe el hombre».
7 They said to him, 'Then why did Moses command that a writ of dismissal should be given in cases ofdivorce?'	7 Dícenle: «Pues ¿por qué Moisés prescribió dar acta de divorcio y repudiarla?»
8 He said to them, 'It was because you were so hard-hearted, that Moses al owed you to divorce yourwives, but it was not like this from the beginning.	8 Díceles: «Moisés, teniendo en cuenta la dureza de vuestro corazón, os permitió repudiar a vuestras mujeres; pero al principio no fue así.
9 Now I say this to you: anyone who divorces his wife -- I am not speaking of an il icit marriage -- andmarries another, is guilty of adultery.'	9 Ahora bien, os digo que quien repudie a su mujer - no por fornicación - y se case con otra, comete adulterio».
10 The disciples said to him, 'If that is how things are between husband and wife, it is advisable not tomarry.'	10 Dícenle sus discípulos: «Si tal es la condición del hombre respecto de su mujer, no trae cuenta casarse».
11 But he replied, 'It is not everyone who can accept what I have said, but only those to whom it isgranted.	11 Pero él les dijo: «No todos entienden este lenguaje, sino aquellos a quienes se les ha concedido.
12 There are eunuchs born so from their mother's womb, there are eunuchs made so by human agencyand there are eunuchs who have made themselves so for the sake of the kingdom of Heaven. Let anyoneaccept this who can.'	12 Porque hay eunucos que nacieron así del seno materno, y hay eunucos que se hicieron tales a sí mismos por el Reino de los Cielos. Quien pueda entender, que entienda».
13 Then people brought little children to him, for him to lay his hands on them and pray. The disciplesscolded them,	13 Entonces le fueron presentados unos niños para que les impusiera las manos y orase; pero los discípulos les reñían.
14 but Jesus said, 'Let the little children alone, and do not stop them from coming to me; for it is to suchas these that the kingdom of Heaven belongs.'	14 Mas Jesús les dijo: «Dejad que los niños vengan a mí, y no se lo impidáis porque de los que son como éstos es el Reino de los Cielos».
15 Then he laid his hands on them and went on his way.	15 Y, después de imponerles las manos, se fue de allí.
16 And now a man came to him and asked, 'Master, what good deed must I do to possess eternal life?'	16 En esto se le acercó uno y le dijo: «Maestro, ¿qué he de hacer de bueno para conseguir vida eterna?»
17 Jesus said to him, 'Why do you ask me about what is good? There is one alone who is good. But ifyou wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.'	17 El le dijo: «¿Por qué me preguntas acerca de lo bueno? Uno solo es el Bueno. Mas si quieres entrar en la vida, guarda los mandamientos».
18 He said, 'Which ones?' Jesus replied, 'These: You shall not kil . You shall not commit adultery. Youshall not steal. You shal not give false witness.	18 «¿Cuáles?» - le dice él. Y Jesús dijo: «No matarás, no cometerás adulterio, no robarás, no levantarás falso testimonio,
19 Honour your father and your mother. You shal love your neighbour as yourself.'	19 honra a tu padre y a tu madre, y amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo».
20 The young man said to him, 'I have kept al these. What more do I need to do?'	20 Dícele el joven: «Todo eso lo he guardado; ¿qué más me falta?»
21 Jesus said, 'If you wish to be perfect, go and sell your possessions and give the money to the poor,and you wil have treasure in heaven; then come, fol ow me.'	21 Jesús le dijo: «Si quieres ser perfecto, anda, vende lo que tienes y dáselo a los pobres, y tendrás un tesoro en los cielos; luego ven, y sígueme».
22 But when the young man heard these words he went away sad, for he was a man of great wealth.	22 Al oír estas palabras, el joven se marchó entristecido, porque tenía muchos bienes.
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'In truth I tell you, it is hard for someone rich to enter the kingdom ofHeaven.	23 Entonces Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: «Yo os aseguro que un rico difícilmente entrará en el Reino de los Cielos.
24 Yes, I tel you again, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for someonerich to enter the kingdom of Heaven.'	24 Os lo repito, es más fácil que un camello entre por el ojo de una aguja, que el que un rico entre en el Reino de los Cielos».
25 When the disciples heard this they were astonished. 'Who can be saved, then?' they said.	25 Al oír esto, los discípulos, llenos de asombro, decían: «Entonces, ¿quién se podrá salvar?»
26 Jesus gazed at them. 'By human resources', he told them, 'this is impossible; for God everything ispossible.'	26 Jesús, mirándolos fijamente, dijo: «Para los hombres eso es imposible, mas para Dios todo es posible».
27 Then Peter answered and said, 'Look, we have left everything and fol owed you. What are we tohave, then?'	27 Entonces Pedro, tomando la palabra, le dijo: «Ya lo ves, nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido; ¿qué recibiremos, pues?»
28 Jesus said to them, 'In truth I tel you, when everything is made new again and the Son of man isseated on his throne of glory, you yourselves wil sit on twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.	28 Jesús les dijo: «Yo os aseguro que vosotros que me habéis seguido, en la regeneración, cuando el Hijo del hombre se siente en su trono de gloria, os sentaréis también vosotros en doce tronos, para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel.
29 And everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children or land for the sake ofmy name wil receive a hundred times as much, and also inherit eternal life.	29 Y todo aquel que haya dejado casas, hermanos, hermanas, padre, madre, hijos o hacienda por mi nombre, recibirá el ciento por uno y heredará vida eterna.
30 'Many who are first will be last, and the last, first.'	30 «Pero muchos primeros serán últimos y muchos últimos, primeros».
