1 A message. The word of Yahweh to Israel through Malachi.	1 - Parola del Signore a carico d'Israele per mezzo di Malachia.
2 'I have loved you, says Yahweh. But you ask, "How have you shown your love?" Was not Esau Jacob'sbrother? declares Yahweh; even so, I loved Jacob	2 «Io vi ho amati, dice il Signore, e voi avete detto: - In che cosa ci hai amati? - Non era forse Esaù fratello di Giacobbe? dice il Signore; ed io ho amato Giacobbe,
3 but I hated Esau. I turned his mountains into a desert and his heritage into dwellings in the wastelands.	3 ed Esaù l'ho avuto in avversione, e ho ridotto i suoi monti una solitudine e la sua eredità un deserto di fiere.
4 If Edom says, "We have been struck down but we shall rebuild our ruins," Yahweh Sabaoth says this,"Let them build, but I shal pul down! They wil be known as Land of Wickedness and Nation-with-which-Yahweh-is-angry-for-ever.	4 Che se quei dell'Idumea vanno dicendo: - Siamo stati distrutti, ma torneranno a edificare ciò che è stato distrutto - così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Essi edificheranno ed io demolirò, ed essi saranno chiamati: "Frontiere di empietà" e "Popolo contro del quale il Signore è sdegnato in eterno"!
5 You wil see this yourselves and you wil say: Yahweh is mighty beyond the borders of Israel."	5 E i vostri occhi lo vedranno; e voi direte: "Sia magnificato il Signore oltre i confini di Israele!".
6 'The son honours his father, the slave stands in awe of his master. But if I am indeed father, where isthe honour due to me? And if I am indeed master, where is the awe due to me? says Yahweh Sabaoth to youpriests who despise my name. You ask, "How have we despised your name?"	6 Un figlio onora il padre, un servo il suo padrone. Dunque, se sono io il padre, dov'è l'onore mio? Se sono io il padrone, dov'è il rispetto a me dovuto? dice il Signore degli eserciti a voi, sacerdoti che avete disprezzato il mio nome. Voi dite: "In che cosa abbiamo disprezzato il tuo nome?".
7 By putting pol uted food on my altar. You ask, "How have we polluted you?" By saying, "The table ofYahweh deserves no respect."	7 Offrite sopra il mio altare un pane che fa schifo, e poi dite: "In che cosa ti abbiamo fatto schifo?". In quanto voi dite: "La mensa del Signore è spregevole!".
8 When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is this not wrong? When you bring the lame and thediseased, is this not wrong? If you offer them to your governor, see if he is pleased with them or receives yougraciously, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	8 Se offrite un animale cieco ad essere immolato, non è forse male? E se offrite un animale zoppo o malato, non è forse male? Fanne un'offerta al tuo governatore, e poi vedi, se gli piacerà e se l'accetterà, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
9 In that case, try pleading with God to take pity on us (that is what you have done), and wil he take anynotice? says Yahweh Sabaoth.	9 E voi adesso propiziatevi la faccia di Dio, affinchè abbia pietà di voi! Poichè di vostra mano è stato fatto ciò; e può darsi che egli vi accolga amorevolmente? dice il Signore degli eserciti.
10 Why does one of you not close the doors and so stop the pointless lighting of fires on my altar? I amnot pleased with you, says Yahweh Sabaoth; from your hands I find no offerings acceptable.	10 Chi è tra voi, che chiuda le porte e accenda il mio altare gratuitamente? Io non sono contento di voi, dice il Signore degli eserciti; io non accoglierò offerta dalle vostre mani.
11 But from farthest east to farthest west my name is great among the nations, and everywhere incenseand a pure gift are offered to my name, since my name is great among the nations, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	11 Perchè da dove sorge il sole fin dove tramonta, il mio nome è grande tra le genti; e in ogni luogo si sacrifica e si offre al mio nome un'oblazione pura; perchè grande è il mio nome tra le genti, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
12 'But you have profaned it by saying, "The table of the Lord is pol uted, hence the food offered on itdeserves no respect."	12 Ma voi l'avete profanato in quanto dite: "La mensa del Signore è contaminata, e quello che vi si mette sopra è spregevole, insieme al fuoco che lo consuma".
13 You say, "How tiresome it al is!" and sniff disdainful y at me, says Yahweh Sabaoth. You bring astolen, lame or diseased animal, you bring that as an offering! Am I to accept this from you? says YahwehSabaoth.	13 E avete detto: "Ecco", a fatica! E vi soffiaste sopra, dice il Signore degli eserciti. E avete condotto roba rapita e animali zoppi e ammalati e li avete presentati in offerta: accetterò io queste cose dalle vostre mani? dice il Signore.
14 Cursed be the rogue who has a male in his flock but pays his vow by sacrificing a blemished animal tome! For I am a great king, says Yahweh Sabaoth, and among the nations my name inspires awe.'	14 Maledetto l'uomo finto, che avendo nel suo gregge un maschio, e avendo fatto voto, sacrifica al Signore uno difettoso; mentre, re grande sono io, dice il Signore degli eserciti, e il mio nome tremendo tra le genti. -
