Malachi 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 A message. The word of Yahweh to Israel through Malachi.	1 Oráculo. Palabra del Señor a Israel por medio de Malaquías.
2 'I have loved you, says Yahweh. But you ask, "How have you shown your love?" Was not Esau Jacob'sbrother? declares Yahweh; even so, I loved Jacob	2 ¡Yo los he amado!, dice el Señor, y ustedes dicen: «¿En qué nos has amado?». ¿Esaú no era el hermano de Jacob? –oráculo del Señor–. Sin embargo, yo amé a Jacob
3 but I hated Esau. I turned his mountains into a desert and his heritage into dwellings in the wastelands.	3 y aborrecí a Esaú. Yo hice de sus montañas una desolación y di su herencia a los chacales del desierto.
4 If Edom says, "We have been struck down but we shall rebuild our ruins," Yahweh Sabaoth says this,"Let them build, but I shal pul down! They wil be known as Land of Wickedness and Nation-with-which-Yahweh-is-angry-for-ever.	4 Si Edom dice: «¡Hemos sido destruidos, pero reconstruiremos nuestras ruinas!», así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Ellos edificarán, y yo demoleré, se los llamará «Territorio de maldad» y «Pueblo contra quien el Señor está enojado para siempre».
5 You wil see this yourselves and you wil say: Yahweh is mighty beyond the borders of Israel."	5 Ustedes lo verán con sus ojos y dirán: «¡Grande es el Señor, aún más allá del territorio de Israel!».
6 'The son honours his father, the slave stands in awe of his master. But if I am indeed father, where isthe honour due to me? And if I am indeed master, where is the awe due to me? says Yahweh Sabaoth to youpriests who despise my name. You ask, "How have we despised your name?"	6 El hijo honra a su padre y el servidor teme a su señor. Pero si yo soy Padre, ¿dónde está mi honor? si soy Señor, ¿dónde está mi temor?, les dice el Señor de los ejércitos, a ustedes, sacerdotes, que desprecian mi Nombre. Y ustedes dicen: «¿En qué hemos despreciado tu Nombre?».
7 By putting pol uted food on my altar. You ask, "How have we polluted you?" By saying, "The table ofYahweh deserves no respect."	7 Presentando sobre mi altar un alimento manchado, Y ustedes dicen: «¿En qué te hemos manchado?». Diciendo: «La mesa del Señor es despreciable».
8 When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is this not wrong? When you bring the lame and thediseased, is this not wrong? If you offer them to your governor, see if he is pleased with them or receives yougraciously, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	8 Cuando ustedes presentan un animal ciego para el sacrificio, ¿no están obrando mal? Y cuando presentan un animal rengo o enfermo, ¿no están obrando mal? Ofrécelos a tu gobernador, a ver si te recibe bien y se muestra favorable, dice el Señor de los Ejércitos.
9 In that case, try pleading with God to take pity on us (that is what you have done), and wil he take anynotice? says Yahweh Sabaoth.	9 Y ahora, aplaquen el rostro de Dios, para que él tenga piedad de nosotros. Todo esto viene de las manos de ustedes, ¿acaso él se les mostrará favorable?, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.
10 Why does one of you not close the doors and so stop the pointless lighting of fires on my altar? I amnot pleased with you, says Yahweh Sabaoth; from your hands I find no offerings acceptable.	10 ¿No habrá alguien entre ustedes que cierre las puertas, para que no enciendan en vano el fuego de mi altar? Yo no me complazco en ustedes, dice el Señor de los ejércitos, y no acepto las ofrendas de sus manos.
11 But from farthest east to farthest west my name is great among the nations, and everywhere incenseand a pure gift are offered to my name, since my name is great among the nations, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	11 Pero desde la salida del sol hasta su ocaso, mi Nombre es grande entre las naciones y en todo lugar se presenta a mi Nombre un sacrificio de incienso y una ofrenda pura; porque mi Nombre es grande entre las naciones, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.
12 'But you have profaned it by saying, "The table of the Lord is pol uted, hence the food offered on itdeserves no respect."	12 Pero ustedes lo profanan cuando dicen: «La mesa del Señor está manchada, y su alimento es despreciable».
13 You say, "How tiresome it al is!" and sniff disdainful y at me, says Yahweh Sabaoth. You bring astolen, lame or diseased animal, you bring that as an offering! Am I to accept this from you? says YahwehSabaoth.	13 Ustedes dicen: «¡Qué fastidio!» y me provocan dice el Señor de los ejércitos. Cuando traen un animal robado, rengo o enfermo, cuando traen esas ofrendas, ¿puedo yo aceptarlas de sus manos?, dice el Señor.
14 Cursed be the rogue who has a male in his flock but pays his vow by sacrificing a blemished animal tome! For I am a great king, says Yahweh Sabaoth, and among the nations my name inspires awe.'	14 ¡Maldito sea el tramposo que tiene un animal macho en su rebaño, lo ofrece en voto y después sacrifica al Señor uno mutilado! Porque yo soy un gran Rey, dice el Señor de los ejércitos, y mi Nombre es temible entre las naciones.
