1 A message. The word of Yahweh to Israel through Malachi.	1 Annunzio pesante del Signore ad Israele per Malachia.
2 'I have loved you, says Yahweh. But you ask, "How have you shown your love?" Was not Esau Jacob'sbrother? declares Yahweh; even so, I loved Jacob	2 Io vi amai, dice il Signore, e voi avete detto: Dov' è, che tu ci amasti? non era forse Esaù fratello di Giacobbe? ed io amai Giacobbe,
3 but I hated Esau. I turned his mountains into a desert and his heritage into dwellings in the wastelands.	3 E odiai Esaù, e abbandonai alla solitudine le sue montagne, e il suo retaggio ai dragoni del deserto.
4 If Edom says, "We have been struck down but we shall rebuild our ruins," Yahweh Sabaoth says this,"Let them build, but I shal pul down! They wil be known as Land of Wickedness and Nation-with-which-Yahweh-is-angry-for-ever.	4 Che se dirà l'Idumea: Siamo stati distrutti, ma torneremo, e ristoreremo le nostre rovine; ecco quello, che dice il Signore degli eserciti: Costoro edificheranno, ed io distruggerò, e saran chiamati, Regione di empietà, Popolo, contro del quale il Signore è sdegnato in eterno.
5 You wil see this yourselves and you wil say: Yahweh is mighty beyond the borders of Israel."	5 Voi ciò vedrete co' vostri occhi, e voi direte: Sia glorificato il Signore oltre i confini d'Israele.
6 'The son honours his father, the slave stands in awe of his master. But if I am indeed father, where isthe honour due to me? And if I am indeed master, where is the awe due to me? says Yahweh Sabaoth to youpriests who despise my name. You ask, "How have we despised your name?"	6 Il figliuolo rende onore al padre, e il seno al suo padrone; se adunque io son Padre, dov è l'onore dovuto a me? e se io son il Signore, dov'è il timore dovuto a me, dice il Signore degli eserciti? a voi dico, o sacerdoti, i quali disprezzate il nome mio, e dite: Come abbiam noi disprezzato il nome tuo?
7 By putting pol uted food on my altar. You ask, "How have we polluted you?" By saying, "The table ofYahweh deserves no respect."	7 Voi offerite sul mio altare un pane sozzo, e poi dite: In che ti abbiam noi sozzato? In questo che voi dite: La mensa del Signore è avvilita.
8 When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is this not wrong? When you bring the lame and thediseased, is this not wrong? If you offer them to your governor, see if he is pleased with them or receives yougraciously, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	8 Se voi offeriste ad essere immolato un animale cieco, non sarebbe cosa mal fatta? se n'offeriste uno zoppo, o mal sano, non sarebb' ella cosa mal fatta? offeriscila al tuo governatore, e vedi se a lui sarà grata, e se egli ti accoglierà benignamente, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
9 In that case, try pleading with God to take pity on us (that is what you have done), and wil he take anynotice? says Yahweh Sabaoth.	9 E voi adesso pregate dinanzi a Dio, affinchè egli abbia di voi pietà; perocché da voi sono state fatte tali cose; chi sa, che egli non vi accolga benignamente, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
10 Why does one of you not close the doors and so stop the pointless lighting of fires on my altar? I amnot pleased with you, says Yahweh Sabaoth; from your hands I find no offerings acceptable.	10 Chi è tra voi, che chiuda le porte, e accenda il fuoco sul mio altare gratuitamente? l'affezione mia non è per voi, dice il Signore degli eserciti; ed io non accetterò doni di vostra mano;
11 But from farthest east to farthest west my name is great among the nations, and everywhere incenseand a pure gift are offered to my name, since my name is great among the nations, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	11 Perocché da levante a ponente, grande è il nome mio tralle genti, e in ogni luogo si sacrifica, e si offerisce al nome mio obblazione monda, perchè grande è il nome mio tralle genti, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
12 'But you have profaned it by saying, "The table of the Lord is pol uted, hence the food offered on itdeserves no respect."	12 Ma voi l'avete profanato con dire: La mensa del Signore è contaminata, e quello, che vi si mette sopra, è cosa vile insieme col fuoco, che lo consuma.
13 You say, "How tiresome it al is!" and sniff disdainful y at me, says Yahweh Sabaoth. You bring astolen, lame or diseased animal, you bring that as an offering! Am I to accept this from you? says YahwehSabaoth.	13 E voi dite: Ecco il resto de' travagli, e vi soffiate sopra, dice il Signore degli eserciti, e portate ostie zoppe, e mal sane, e mi portate obblazione delle vostre rapine: accetterò io queste cose dalle vostre mani? dice il Signore.
14 Cursed be the rogue who has a male in his flock but pays his vow by sacrificing a blemished animal tome! For I am a great king, says Yahweh Sabaoth, and among the nations my name inspires awe.'	14 Maledetto l'ingannatore, che ha nel suo gregge un animale senza difetto, ed avendo fatto un voto, ne offerisce uno malato al Signore; perocché un Re grande son io, dice il Signore degli eserciti, e tremendo è il mio nome tralle nazioni.
