Habakkuk 2

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 I shal stand at my post, I shall station myself on my watch-tower, watching to see what he wil say tome, what answer he wil make to my complaints.	1 Io mi metto al mio posto di guardia, sto in piedi sopra la mia roccia e sto attento per sentir che mi dirà, che risponderà al mio lamento.
2 Then Yahweh answered me and said, 'Write the vision down, inscribe it on tablets to be easily read.	2 Il Signore mi ha risposto e ha detto: "Scrivi la visione, incidila su tavolette, perché si corra a leggerla.
3 For the vision is for its appointed time, it hastens towards its end and it wil not lie; although it may takesome time, wait for it, for come it certainly will before too long.	3 Perché la visione riguarda una data, essa attende una fine, non inganna; se tarda a venire, aspettala, perché verrà certamente, non indugerà.
4 'You see, anyone whose heart is not upright wil succumb, but the upright wil live through faithfulness.'	4 Ecco: soccombe chi non ha l'animo retto; il giusto invece sopravvive per la sua fedeltà!".
5 Now, surely, wealth is treacherous! He is arrogant, for ever on the move, with appetite as large asSheol and as insatiable as Death, gathering in al the nations, and making a harvest of al peoples.	5 La ricchezza è veramente traditrice! Il forte insuperbisce e non ha pace; allarga la sua anima come gl'inferi, è insaziabile come la morte! Ammassa intorno a sé tutte le nazioni e raccoglie intorno a sé tutti i popoli!
6 Are not the peoples al bound to satirise and make up cryptic riddles about him? As for instance:Disaster to anyone who amasses goods not his (for how long?) and to anyone who weighs himself down withgoods taken in pledge!	6 Tutti costoro non ripeteranno forse una satira, motti enigmatici contro di lui? Essi diranno: Guai a chi ammassa quello degli altri e si carica d'un fardello di pegni!
7 Wil not your creditors suddenly stand up, wil not those who make you shiver wake up, and you wil fala prey to them?	7 Non sorgeranno forse all'improvviso i tuoi creditori, non si sveglieranno forse i tuoi esattori? Allora diventerai la loro preda!
8 Since you have plundered many nations, al the nations that remain wil plunder you, because of thebloodshed and violence done to the country, to the city and to all who live in it.	8 Perché tu hai depredato molti popoli, tutti gli altri popoli ti deprederanno! Per aver versato sangue umano, fatto violenza al paese, alla città e a tutti i suoi abitanti!
9 Disaster to anyone who amasses ill-gotten gains for his house, so as to fix his nest on high and soevade the reach of misfortune!	9 Guai a chi rapina a pro della sua casa, per mettere molto in alto il suo nido, per difendersi dai colpi della sventura!
10 You have conspired to bring shame on your house: by overthrowing many peoples you have workedyour own ruin.	10 Tu hai disonorato la tua casa; hai distrutto tanti popoli, hai nociuto a te stesso.
11 For the very stone will protest from the wal , and the beam wil respond from the framework.	11 Perché le pietre dei muri si lamentano, e le travi dei tavolati ti rimproverano!
12 Disaster to anyone who builds a town with bloodshed and founds a city on wrong-doing!	12 Guai a chi costruisce una città sul sangue, una città sopra il delitto!
13 Is it not thanks to Yahweh Sabaoth that the peoples' toil is fuel for the fire, and the nations' labourcame to nothing?	13 E' forse volere del Signore degli eserciti che le nazioni si affannino per il fuoco, le genti si affatichino per niente?
14 But the earth wil be full of the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh as the waters cover the depths of thesea.	14 Certo, la terra sarà ripiena della scienza della gloria del Signore, come le acque riempiono il mare!
15 Disaster to anyone who makes his neighbours drink, pouring out his poison until they are drunk, sothat he can see them naked!	15 Guai a chi fa bere ai suoi vicini, versa il veleno fino a stordirli, per scoprire la loro nudità...!
16 You are ful of shame, not glory! Your turn now to drink and show your foreskin. The cup in Yahweh'sright hand comes round to you, and disgrace wil overshadow your glory.	16 Ti sazi d'ignominia e non di gloria! Bevi a tua volta e fatti venir le vertigini! Passa per te la coppa della destra del Signore e l'ignominia ricopre la tua gloria!
17 For the violence done to the Lebanon wil overwhelm you and the massacre of animals will terrify you,because of the bloodshed and violence done to the country, to the city and to al who live in it. Disaster toanyone who says to the log, 'Wake up!', to the dumb stone, 'On your feet!' (This is the prophecy!) Look, he isencased in gold and silver, -but not a breath of life inside it!	17 Sì! La violenza fatta al Libano ti ricadrà sopra e la strage degli animali ti atterrirà! Perché hai versato sangue umano, fatto violenza al paese, alla città e a tutti i suoi abitanti!
18 What use is a sculpted image that a sculptor should make it? - a metal image, a lying instructor! Andwhy does the image-maker put his trust in it, that he should make dumb idols?	18 A che serve che uno scultore lisci la statua, un'immagine, un oracolo bugiardo, perché il suo artista nutra speranza di farsi degli idoli muti?
19	19 Guai a chi dice al legno: "Svégliati!"; e alla pietra inerte: "Sorgi dal tuo silenzio!". Questo è l'oracolo: Ecco: l'involucro è d'oro e d'argento, ma dentro non c'è soffio di vita!
20 But Yahweh is in his holy Temple: let the whole earth be silent before him.	20 Il Signore è nel suo santo tempio! Silenzio davanti a lui, terra tutta quanta!
