NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA MARTINI
1 I shal stand at my post, I shall station myself on my watch-tower, watching to see what he wil say tome, what answer he wil make to my complaints.	1 Io starò vegliante a far la mia sentinella, pianterò il piede sul forte per vedere quello, che a me dirassi, e quel, ch'io abbia a rispondere a chi mi riprende.
2 Then Yahweh answered me and said, 'Write the vision down, inscribe it on tablets to be easily read.	2 E il Signore mi rispose, e disse: Scrivi la visione, e stendila sopra le tavolette, affinchè chi la legge, la scorra agevolmente;
3 For the vision is for its appointed time, it hastens towards its end and it wil not lie; although it may takesome time, wait for it, for come it certainly will before too long.	3 Perocché la visione è di cosa ancor lontana; ma apparirà nel fine, e non sarà menzognera. Se differirà, tu aspettalo; perocché il venturo verrà, e non tarderà.
4 'You see, anyone whose heart is not upright wil succumb, but the upright wil live through faithfulness.'	4 Ma chi è incredulo, non ha in se un'anima giusta. Il giusto poi nella fede sua viverà.
5 Now, surely, wealth is treacherous! He is arrogant, for ever on the move, with appetite as large asSheol and as insatiable as Death, gathering in al the nations, and making a harvest of al peoples.	5 Ma siccome il vino inganna chi lo beve, cosi sarà dell'uomo superbo, il quale resterà senza onore. Egli, che ha le voglie ampie come l'inferno, ed è insaziabile come la morte, e sotto di se riunir vorrebbe tutte le genti, e tutti insieme ammassare i popoli.
6 Are not the peoples al bound to satirise and make up cryptic riddles about him? As for instance:Disaster to anyone who amasses goods not his (for how long?) and to anyone who weighs himself down withgoods taken in pledge!	6 Non canteranno forse tutti questi sopra di lui la loro parabola, e i loro proverbi, e non si dirà egli: Guai a chi accumula roba non sua: e fino a quando mette egli insieme in suo danno il denso fango?
7 Wil not your creditors suddenly stand up, wil not those who make you shiver wake up, and you wil fala prey to them?	7 Non si leverà egli su repentinamente chi ti morderà; e non verrà fuori chi ti sbranerà, e tu sarai loro preda?
8 Since you have plundered many nations, al the nations that remain wil plunder you, because of thebloodshed and violence done to the country, to the city and to all who live in it.	8 Perchè tu hai spogliate molte genti spoglieranno te tutti coloro, che saranno rimasi di quelle nazioni, a motivo del sangue degli uomini, e per le iniquità fatte contro la terra, contro la città, e tutti i suoi abitatori.
9 Disaster to anyone who amasses ill-gotten gains for his house, so as to fix his nest on high and soevade the reach of misfortune!	9 Guai a chi raguna i frutti di un'avarizia perniciosa alla propria casa, affinchè sia più in alto il suo nido, credendo di salvarsi dagli artigli del male.
10 You have conspired to bring shame on your house: by overthrowing many peoples you have workedyour own ruin.	10 Tu hai studiato il modo di disonorar la tua casa; hai straziati molti popoli, e l'anima tua peccò.
11 For the very stone will protest from the wal , and the beam wil respond from the framework.	11 Perocché i sassi alzeran le voci dalla muraglia, e il legname, che sta nelle giunture della fabbrica, replicherà:
12 Disaster to anyone who builds a town with bloodshed and founds a city on wrong-doing!	12 Guai a chi edifica una città a forza di sangue sparso, e la fonda sull'iniquità,
13 Is it not thanks to Yahweh Sabaoth that the peoples' toil is fuel for the fire, and the nations' labourcame to nothing?	13 Queste cose non son elleno (predette) dal Signore degli eserciti? imperocché si affanneranno in vano i popoli, e le genti per un gran fuoco, e verran meno.
14 But the earth wil be full of the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh as the waters cover the depths of thesea.	14 Perocché la terra sarà inondata, come l'alveo del mare è coperto dalle acque, affinchè sia conosciuta la gloria del Signore.
15 Disaster to anyone who makes his neighbours drink, pouring out his poison until they are drunk, sothat he can see them naked!	15 Guai a colui, che dà da bere al suo amico, mescendovi il suo fiele, e lo imbriaca per vederlo ignudo.
16 You are ful of shame, not glory! Your turn now to drink and show your foreskin. The cup in Yahweh'sright hand comes round to you, and disgrace wil overshadow your glory.	16 Invece di gloria, tu sarai ricolmo d'ignominia: bevi anche tu, e assopisciti: starà intorno a te il calice della destra del Signore; e un vomito obbrobrioso (verrà) sopra la tua gloria.
17 For the violence done to the Lebanon wil overwhelm you and the massacre of animals will terrify you,because of the bloodshed and violence done to the country, to the city and to al who live in it. Disaster toanyone who says to the log, 'Wake up!', to the dumb stone, 'On your feet!' (This is the prophecy!) Look, he isencased in gold and silver, -but not a breath of life inside it!	17 Conciossiachè le iniquità fatte sul Libano ti sommergeranno; e la distruzione fatta da queste fiere le atterrirà, per ragion del sangue degli uomini, e per l'iniquità contro la terra, e la città, e tutti i suoi abitatori.
18 What use is a sculpted image that a sculptor should make it? - a metal image, a lying instructor! Andwhy does the image-maker put his trust in it, that he should make dumb idols?	18 A che giova la statua fatta dal suo artefice collo scalpello, e la falsa figura di getto? Pur l'artefice pone speranza nel suo lavoro, e fa de' nuovi simolacri.
19	19 Guai a colui, che dice al legno: Svegliati: e alla morta pietra: Alzati. Può ella forse insegnare a te? Ecco, che ella è coperta di oro, e d'argento; ma spirito alcuno nelle viscere di lei non è.
20 But Yahweh is in his holy Temple: let the whole earth be silent before him.	20 Ma il Signore è nel suo tempio santo. Dinanzi a lui si taccia la terra.
