NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,	1 Habló Yahveh a Moisés y le dijo:
2 'Tel Eleazar son of Aaron the priest to pick the censers out of the smouldering remains and scatterthe fire from them away from here,	2 «Di a Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón, que saque los incensarios de entre las cenizas y esparza el fuego a distancia,
3 for these sinful censers have become sanctified at the price of human lives. Since they were broughtbefore Yahweh and thus became consecrated, they must be hammered into sheets to cover the altar. They willbe an object-lesson to the Israelites.'	3 porque esos incensarios de pecado están consagrados a precio de la vida de esos hombres. Haced con ellos láminas de metal, para cubrir el altar, pues fueron presentados a Yahveh y consagrados. Serán una señal para los israelitas.»
4 The priest Eleazar took the bronze censers which had been carried by the men destroyed by the fire.They were hammered into sheets to cover the altar.	4 Tomó el sacerdote Eleazar los incensarios de bronce que habían presentado los que fueron abrasados, y los laminó con destino al altar.
5 They are a reminder to the Israelites that no unauthorised person, no one not of Aaron's line, mayapproach and offer incense before Yahweh, on pain of suffering the fate of Korah and his party, as Yahweh hadsaid through Moses.	5 Sirven para recordar a los israelitas que no se acerque ningún laico, que no sea de la descendencia de Aarón, a ofrecer el incienso delante de Yahveh; no le ocurra lo que a Coré y a su cuadrilla, según se lo había dicho Yahveh por medio de Moisés.
6 On the following day, the whole community of Israelites were muttering against Moses and Aaron andsaying, 'You are responsible for killing Yahweh's people!'	6 Al día siguiente, murmuró toda la comunidad de los israelitas contra Moisés y Aarón, diciendo: «Vosotros habéis matado al pueblo de Yahveh.»
7 Now, as the community was banding together against Moses and Aaron, they turned towards theTent of Meeting, and there was the cloud covering it, and the glory of Yahweh appeared.	7 Como se amotinaba la comunidad contra Moisés y Aarón, se volvieron éstos hacia la Tienda del Encuentro. Y vieron que la Nube la había cubierto y se había aparecido la gloria de Yahveh.
8 Moses and Aaron then went to the front of the Tent of Meeting.	8 Moisés y Aarón se llegaron hasta delante de la Tienda del Encuentro.
9 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	9 Yahveh habló a Moisés y le dijo:
10 'Get away from this community. I am going to destroy them here and now.' They threw themselveson their faces.	10 «Alejaos de esa comunidad, que voy a consumirlos en un instante.» Ellos cayeron rostro en tierra.
11 Moses then said to Aaron, 'Take a censer, put fire in it from the altar, place incense on it and hurryto the community to perform the rite of expiation for them: for retribution has come from Yahweh, plague hasbroken out.'	11 Dijo entonces Moisés a Aarón: «Toma el incensario, ponle fuego del que hay sobre el altar, echa incienso y vete rápidamente donde la comunidad a expiar por ellos. Porque ha salido ya la Cólera de la presencia de Yahveh y ha comenzado la Plaga.»
12 Aaron took it as Moses said and ran into the middle of the community, but plague had alreadybroken out among the people. He put in the incense and performed the rite of expiation for the people.	12 Aarón lo tomó como le había dicho Moisés y corrió a ponerse en medio de la asamblea; la Plaga había comenzado ya en el pueblo. Echó el incienso e hizo la expiación por el pueblo.
13 Then he stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.	13 Se plantó entre los muertos y los vivos, y la Plaga se detuvo.
14 There were fourteen thousand seven hundred victims of the plague, apart from those who diedbecause of Korah.	14 Los muertos por aquella plaga fueron 14.700, sin contar los que murieron por causa de Coré.
15 Aaron then went back to Moses at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting; the plague had been halted.	15 Luego Aarón se volvió donde Moisés a la puerta de la Tienda del Encuentro: había cesado ya la Plaga.
16 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	16 Habló Yahveh a Moisés y le dijo:
17 'Tel the Israelites to give you a branch for each of their families, one for each leader of each family:twelve branches. Write the name of each on his branch;	17 «Habla a los israelitas. Que te den una rama por cada familia paterna: que entre todos los principales, en representación de sus familias paternas, de den doce ramas. Y escribe el nombre de cada uno en su rama.
18 and on the branch of Levi write Aaron's name, since the head of the Levite families must have abranch too.	18 En la rama de Leví escribe el nombre de Aarón, pues ha de haber también una rama para el jefe de la familia de Leví.
19 You wil then put them inside the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I make myselfknown to you.	19 Las depositarás en la Tienda del Encuentro, delante del Testimonio, donde me suelo manifestar a ti.
20 The man whose branch sprouts will be the one I have chosen; this is how I shal put an end to themutterings of the Israelites about you.'	20 El hombre cuya rama retoñe, será el que yo elijo. Así dejarán de llegar hasta mí las murmuraciones que los israelitas profieren contra vosotros.»
21 Moses spoke to the Israelites, and al their leaders gave him one branch each, twelve branches in alfor their families; Aaron's branch was among them.	21 Moisés habló a los israelitas, y cada uno de los principales le dio una rama, doce ramas, en representación de todas las familias paternas. Entre sus ramas estaba también la rama de Aarón.
22 Moses placed them before Yahweh in the Tent of the Testimony.	22 Moisés depositó las ramas delante de Yahveh en la Tienda del Testimonio.
23 On the fol owing day Moses went to the Tent of the Testimony and there, already sprouting, wasAaron's branch, representing the House of Levi; buds had formed, flowers had bloomed and almonds hadalready ripened.	23 Al día siguiente, cuando entró Moisés en la Tienda del Testimonio, vio que había retoñado la rama de Aarón, por la casa de Leví: le habían brotado yemas, había florecido y había producido almendras.
24 Moses then brought out all the branches from before Yahweh to al the Israelites; they examinedthem and each one took back his own branch.	24 Moisés sacó todas las ramas de la presencia de Yahveh, ante los israelitas; las vieron, y tomaron cada uno su rama.
25 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Put Aaron's branch back in front of the Testimony, where it wil have itsritual place as a warning to the rebel ious; thus you will rid me of their muttering for good, without their incurringdeath.'	25 Entonces dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Vuelve a poner la rama de Aarón delante del Testimonio, para guardarla como señal para los rebeldes: acabará con las murmuraciones, que no llegarán ya hasta mí, y así no morirán.»
26 Moses did as Yahweh had ordered. That is what he did.	26 Moisés lo hizo así; como le había mandado Yahveh lo hizo.
27 The Israelites then said to Moses, 'We are lost! We are dead men! We are al dead men!	27 Dijeron los israelitas a Moisés: «¡Estamos perdidos! ¡Hemos perecido! ¡Todos hemos perecido!
28 Anyone who approaches Yahweh's Dwel ing with an offering wil die. Are we to be doomed to thelast man?'	28 Cualquiera que se acerca a la Morada de Yahveh, muere. ¿Es que vamos a perecer hasta no quedar uno?»
