Amos 7

1 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: there was a swarm of locusts when the second crop wassprouting, full-grown locusts, after the king's hay had been cut.	1 Queste cose mi fece vedere il Signore Dio: ecco che Egli formava delle cavallette, quando cominciavano a germinare le piante per le ultime piogge, ed ecco l'ultima pioggia dopo la segatura del re.
2 When they had eaten al the grass in the land, I said, 'Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you. How can Jacobsurvive, being so smal ?'	2 E quando la cavalletta ebbe finito di divorare l'erba della terra, io dissi: « Signore Dio, te ne prego, abbi misericordia: chi rialzerà Giacobbe, che è piccino? »
3 Then Yahweh relented; 'It wil not happen,' said Yahweh.	3 Il Signore ebbe pietà di questo e « Non sarà » disse il Signore.
4 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: Lord Yahweh summoning fire in punishment; it had devouredthe great Abyss and was encroaching on the land,	4 Poi il Signore mi fece vedere questa cosa: ecco che il Signore Dio chiamava la giustizia al fuoco, e (il fuoco) divorò un grande abisso, ed insieme consumò la parte (del Signore).
5 when I said, 'Lord Yahweh, stop, I beg you. How can Jacob survive, being so smal ?'	5 E io dissi: « Signore Dio, cessa, te ne prego: chi rialzerà Giacobbe, che è piccino? ».
6 Then Yahweh relented; 'This wil not happen either,' said the Lord Yahweh.	6 Il Signore ebbe pietà di questo, e « Ciò non sarà » disse il Signore Dio.
7 This is what he showed me: the Lord standing by a wal , with a plumb-line in his hand.	7 Poi il Signore mi fece vedere questa cosa: ecco che il Signore stava su un muro arricciato, ed aveva in mano una mestola da muratori.
8 'What do you see, Amos?' Yahweh asked me. 'A plumb-line,' I said. Then the Lord said, 'Look, I amgoing to put a plumb-line in among my people Israel; never again will I overlook their offences.	8 E il Signore mi disse: « Che vedi, Amos? » Risposi: « Una mestola da muratori ». E il Signore disse: « Ecco che io getterò la mestola in mezzo al mio popolo d'Israele, e non l'arriccerò più nell'avvenire;
9 The high places of Isaac wil be ruined and the sanctuaries of Israel laid waste, and, sword in hand, Iwil attack the House of Jeroboam.'	9 e gli alti luoghi dell'idolo saranno atterrati, e i santuari d'Israele saran desolati, e mi alberò colla spada contro la casa di Geroboamo ».
10 Amaziah the priest of Bethel then sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel as fol ows, 'Amos is plottingagainst you in the heart of the House of Israel; the country cannot tolerate his speeches.	10 Or Amasia, sacerdote di Betel, mandò a dire a Geroboamo re d'Israele: « Amos muove a ribellione contro di te in mezzo al popolo d'Israele, e il paese non può più sopportare tutti i suoi discorsi.
11 For this is what Amos says, "Jeroboam is going to die by the sword, and Israel wil go into captivity farfrom its native land." '	11 Infatti Amos parla cosi: « Geroboamo perirà di spada, e Israele, fatto schiavo, andrà lontano dalla sua terra ».
12 To Amos himself Amaziah said, 'Go away, seer, take yourself off to Judah, earn your living there, andthere you can prophesy!	12 Poi Amasia disse ad Amos: « O Veggente, parti di qui, fuggi nella terra di Giuda, e là mangia il tuo pane, là profetizza;
13 But never again wil you prophesy at Bethel, for this is a royal sanctuary, a national temple.'	13 ma non continuare a profetare a Betel, perchè è santuario del re e tempio del regno ».
14 'I am not a prophet,' Amos replied to Amaziah, 'nor do I belong to a prophetic brotherhood. I ammerely a herdsman and dresser of sycamore-figs.	14 Amos rispose ad Amasia: « Io non son nè profeta nè figlio di profeta; son uno che va dietro agli armenti e pizzica i sicomori.
15 But Yahweh took me as I fol owed the flock, and Yahweh said to me, "Go and prophesy to my peopleIsrael."	15 Ma il Signore mi prese mentre seguivo l'armento, e mi disse il Signore: — Va a profetare al popolo mio d'Israele. —
16 So now listen to what Yahweh says: "You say: Do not prophesy against Israel, do not foretel doomon the House of Isaac!"	16 Ed ora ascolta la parola del Signore: Tu dici: — Non profetare più contro Israele, non gettar parole sulla casa dell'idolo. —
17 Very wel , this is what Yahweh says, "Your wife wil become a prostitute in the streets, your sons anddaughters wil fal by the sword, your land wil be parcel ed out by measuring line, and you yourself wil die onpolluted soil and Israel will go into captivity far from its own land!" '	17 Per questo, ecco quanto dice il Signore: — La tua moglie si darà al disonore nella città, i tuoi figli e le tue figlie cadran sotto la spada, la tua terra sarà spartita colla corda, e tu morrai in terra immonda, e Israele sarà menato schiavo fuori della sua terra ».
