Amos 7

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: there was a swarm of locusts when the second crop wassprouting, full-grown locusts, after the king's hay had been cut.	1 Così mi ha fatto vedere il Signore Dio: ecco: stava plasmando locuste, mentre cominciava a crescere il secondo taglio d'erba. Ed ecco: il secondo taglio era quello che veniva dopo la falciatura del re.
2 When they had eaten al the grass in the land, I said, 'Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you. How can Jacobsurvive, being so smal ?'	2 E avvenne: quando ebbero finito di mangiare l'erba della terra, io dissi: Signore Dio, perdona, di grazia: come starà ritto Giacobbe? Poiché egli è piccino.
3 Then Yahweh relented; 'It wil not happen,' said Yahweh.	3 Si pentì il Signore per questo. Non sarà, ha detto il Signore.
4 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: Lord Yahweh summoning fire in punishment; it had devouredthe great Abyss and was encroaching on the land,	4 Così mi ha fatto vedere il Signore Dio: Ecco: il Signore Dio stava chiamando il fuoco per castigare. Aveva divorato il grande abisso, e avrebbe divorato la campagna.
5 when I said, 'Lord Yahweh, stop, I beg you. How can Jacob survive, being so smal ?'	5 Io dissi: Signore Dio, cessa, di grazia: come starà ritto Giacobbe? Poiché egli è piccino.
6 Then Yahweh relented; 'This wil not happen either,' said the Lord Yahweh.	6 Si pentì il Signore per questo. Neanche questo sarà, ha detto il Signore Dio.
7 This is what he showed me: the Lord standing by a wal , with a plumb-line in his hand.	7 Così mi ha fatto vedere: Ecco: il Signore stava ritto sopra un muro a piombo, e nella sua mano un filo a piombo.
8 'What do you see, Amos?' Yahweh asked me. 'A plumb-line,' I said. Then the Lord said, 'Look, I amgoing to put a plumb-line in among my people Israel; never again will I overlook their offences.	8 E il Signore disse a me: Che stai vedendo tu, Amos? Risposi: Un filo a piombo. Il Signore disse: Ecco: io sto per porre un filo a piombo nell'interno del mio popolo Israele: non gli perdonerò più.
9 The high places of Isaac wil be ruined and the sanctuaries of Israel laid waste, and, sword in hand, Iwil attack the House of Jeroboam.'	9 Saranno devastate le alture d'Isacco e i santuari d'Israele saranno desolati; io mi ergerò con la spada contro la casa di Geroboamo.
10 Amaziah the priest of Bethel then sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel as fol ows, 'Amos is plottingagainst you in the heart of the House of Israel; the country cannot tolerate his speeches.	10 Amasia, sacerdote di Betel, mandò a dire a Geroboamo, re d'Israele: "Amos complotta contro di te, nell'interno della casa d'Israele. La terra non può sopportare tutte le sue parole,
11 For this is what Amos says, "Jeroboam is going to die by the sword, and Israel wil go into captivity farfrom its native land." '	11 poiché così ha detto Amos: "Di spada morrà Geroboamo e Israele sarà deportato in esilio, lontano dal suo territorio".
12 To Amos himself Amaziah said, 'Go away, seer, take yourself off to Judah, earn your living there, andthere you can prophesy!	12 Amasia disse ad Amos: "Veggente, va', scappatene nella terra di Giuda, mangia ivi pane e ivi profeterai.
13 But never again wil you prophesy at Bethel, for this is a royal sanctuary, a national temple.'	13 Ma a Betel non continuare a profetare, perché esso è santuario del re ed è tempio del regno".
14 'I am not a prophet,' Amos replied to Amaziah, 'nor do I belong to a prophetic brotherhood. I ammerely a herdsman and dresser of sycamore-figs.	14 Amos rispose ad Amasia: "Non sono profeta io né figlio di profeta; io sono mandriano e incisore di sicomori.
15 But Yahweh took me as I fol owed the flock, and Yahweh said to me, "Go and prophesy to my peopleIsrael."	15 Il Signore mi prese da dietro il gregge, e il Signore disse a me: Va', profetizza al popolo mio Israele.
16 So now listen to what Yahweh says: "You say: Do not prophesy against Israel, do not foretel doomon the House of Isaac!"	16 Ora ascolta la parola del Signore: Tu dici: "Non profeterai contro Israele e non predicherai contro la casa d'Isacco".
17 Very wel , this is what Yahweh says, "Your wife wil become a prostitute in the streets, your sons anddaughters wil fal by the sword, your land wil be parcel ed out by measuring line, and you yourself wil die onpolluted soil and Israel will go into captivity far from its own land!" '	17 Perciò così ha detto il Signore: La tua donna nella città si prostituirà e i tuoi figli e le tue figlie di spada cadranno, e la tua terra mediante funicella verrà distribuita, e tu su terra impura morrai. Israele sarà deportato in esilio, lontano dal suo territorio".
