Amos 7

1 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: there was a swarm of locusts when the second crop wassprouting, full-grown locusts, after the king's hay had been cut.	1 - Il Signore Dio mi fece vedere questo: Ed eccolo in atto di formar locuste nel primo crescere dell'erba delle ultime piogge; ed ecco già l'erba delle ultime piogge, dopo la falciatura del re.
2 When they had eaten al the grass in the land, I said, 'Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you. How can Jacobsurvive, being so smal ?'	2 Ed avvenne, come ebbero divorato completamente l'erba della terra dissi: - Signore Dio, perdona, te ne scongiuro; chi solleverà Giacobbe, che è già tanto piccolo? -
3 Then Yahweh relented; 'It wil not happen,' said Yahweh.	3 E il Signore ne ebbe compassione: - Ciò non sarà! - disse il Signore.
4 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: Lord Yahweh summoning fire in punishment; it had devouredthe great Abyss and was encroaching on the land,	4 Il Signore Dio mi fece vedere questo: Ed ecco il Signore Dio chiamava giustizia dal fuoco: e il fuoco consunse il grande abisso e consunse anche una porzione.
5 when I said, 'Lord Yahweh, stop, I beg you. How can Jacob survive, being so smal ?'	5 Ed io dissi: - Signore Iddio, cessa, te ne scongiuro; chi rialzerà Giacobbe che è già tanto piccolo? -
6 Then Yahweh relented; 'This wil not happen either,' said the Lord Yahweh.	6 E il Signore ne ebbe compassione: - Anche questo non sarà! - disse il Signore Dio.
7 This is what he showed me: the Lord standing by a wal , with a plumb-line in his hand.	7 Il Signore mi fece vedere questo: Ed ecco il Signore ritto sopra un muro cementato, e in mano aveva una cazzuola da cementatore.
8 'What do you see, Amos?' Yahweh asked me. 'A plumb-line,' I said. Then the Lord said, 'Look, I amgoing to put a plumb-line in among my people Israel; never again will I overlook their offences.	8 Ed il Signore disse a me: - Che cosa vedi, o Amos? - Ed io dissi: - Una cazzuola da cementatore. - Ed il Signore disse: - Ecco, io deporrò la cazzuola in mezzo al mio popolo Israele, e non continuerò più a ripassarci sopra.
9 The high places of Isaac wil be ruined and the sanctuaries of Israel laid waste, and, sword in hand, Iwil attack the House of Jeroboam.'	9 E saranno devastate le alture degli idoli e i santuari d'Israele saranno distrutti, e insorgerò colla spada contro la casa di Geroboamo.-»
10 Amaziah the priest of Bethel then sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel as fol ows, 'Amos is plottingagainst you in the heart of the House of Israel; the country cannot tolerate his speeches.	10 E Amasia sacerdote di Betel mandò a dire a Geroboamo re di Israele: «Amos ha cospirato contro di te in seno alla casa di Israele. Il nostro paese non può più sopportare tutti i suoi discorsi.
11 For this is what Amos says, "Jeroboam is going to die by the sword, and Israel wil go into captivity farfrom its native land." '	11 Perchè Amos dice questo: - Geroboamo morrà di spada, e Israele sarà condotto via dal suo paese in schiavitù -».
12 To Amos himself Amaziah said, 'Go away, seer, take yourself off to Judah, earn your living there, andthere you can prophesy!	12 E Amasia disse ad Amos: «Veggente, parti, rifugiati nella terra di Giuda, e procacciati là il pane, e là fa' il profeta;
13 But never again wil you prophesy at Bethel, for this is a royal sanctuary, a national temple.'	13 e in Betel non seguitar più a profetare, perchè è il santuario del re e la sede del regno».
14 'I am not a prophet,' Amos replied to Amaziah, 'nor do I belong to a prophetic brotherhood. I ammerely a herdsman and dresser of sycamore-figs.	14 E Amos rispose ad Amasia: «Non sono profeta io, e neppure io sono figlio di profeta; sono un mandriano, scortecciatore di sicomori. E il Signore mi prese mentr'io seguiva la greggia,
15 But Yahweh took me as I fol owed the flock, and Yahweh said to me, "Go and prophesy to my peopleIsrael."	15 e il Signore m'ha detto: - Va' e profetizza al mio popolo di Israele. -
16 So now listen to what Yahweh says: "You say: Do not prophesy against Israel, do not foretel doomon the House of Isaac!"	16 Ed ora ascolta la parola del Signore: - Tu dici: "Non profetizzerai più coi tuoi oracoli contro la casa dell'idolo". -
17 Very wel , this is what Yahweh says, "Your wife wil become a prostitute in the streets, your sons anddaughters wil fal by the sword, your land wil be parcel ed out by measuring line, and you yourself wil die onpolluted soil and Israel will go into captivity far from its own land!" '	17 Perciò il Signore dice questo: - Tua moglie sarà violentata in città, i tuoi figli e le tue figlie cadranno sotto la spada, e il tuo terreno sarà spartito alla pertica e tu sopra un suolo profano morrai, e Israele emigrerà schiavo lungi dalla sua terra. -
