Amos 7

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: there was a swarm of locusts when the second crop wassprouting, full-grown locusts, after the king's hay had been cut.	1 Voici ce que le Seigneur Yahvé me fit voir: au temps où l’herbe commence à repousser après la coupe pour le roi, il créait des sauterelles.
2 When they had eaten al the grass in the land, I said, 'Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you. How can Jacobsurvive, being so smal ?'	2 Je les voyais dévorer toute l’herbe du pays et je dis: “Seigneur Yahvé, pardonne, je t’en prie. Jacob est si petit, comment tiendra-t-il?”
3 Then Yahweh relented; 'It wil not happen,' said Yahweh.	3 Alors Yahvé se repentit et déclara: “Cela n’arrivera pas!”
4 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: Lord Yahweh summoning fire in punishment; it had devouredthe great Abyss and was encroaching on the land,	4 Le Seigneur Yahvé me fit voir autre chose: le Seigneur Yahvé appelait le feu pour punir son peuple. Le feu mit les sources à sec et dévora la campagne.
5 when I said, 'Lord Yahweh, stop, I beg you. How can Jacob survive, being so smal ?'	5 Alors je dis: “Seigneur Yahvé, arrête, je t’en prie! Jacob est si petit, comment tiendra-t-il?”
6 Then Yahweh relented; 'This wil not happen either,' said the Lord Yahweh.	6 Yahvé se repentit et déclara: “Cela non plus n’arrivera pas.”
7 This is what he showed me: the Lord standing by a wal , with a plumb-line in his hand.	7 Il me fit voir autre chose encore: le Seigneur se tenait le long d’un mur avec un fil à plomb dans la main.
8 'What do you see, Amos?' Yahweh asked me. 'A plumb-line,' I said. Then the Lord said, 'Look, I amgoing to put a plumb-line in among my people Israel; never again will I overlook their offences.	8 Yahvé me dit: “Amos que vois-tu?” Je répondis: “Un fil à plomb.” Le Seigneur me dit: “Voici que je vais mettre d’aplomb mon peuple Israël, et désormais je ne lui pardonnerai plus.
9 The high places of Isaac wil be ruined and the sanctuaries of Israel laid waste, and, sword in hand, Iwil attack the House of Jeroboam.'	9 Les hauts-lieux d’Isaac seront ruinés, les sanctuaires d’Israël seront dévastés, et je m’en prendrai à la maison de Jéroboam l’épée à la main.”
10 Amaziah the priest of Bethel then sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel as fol ows, 'Amos is plottingagainst you in the heart of the House of Israel; the country cannot tolerate his speeches.	10 Alors Amasias, le prêtre de Béthel, envoya dire à Jéroboam, roi d’Israël: “Amos conspire contre toi au cœur du pays d’Israël, le pays ne peut plus supporter ses discours.
11 For this is what Amos says, "Jeroboam is going to die by the sword, and Israel wil go into captivity farfrom its native land." '	11 Oui, voici ce que dit Amos: Jéroboam sera tué par l’épée et Israël sera déporté loin de sa terre.”
12 To Amos himself Amaziah said, 'Go away, seer, take yourself off to Judah, earn your living there, andthere you can prophesy!	12 Amasias dit à Amos: “Va-t’en, voyant! Retourne au pays de Juda, et là, mange ton pain en faisant le prophète;
13 But never again wil you prophesy at Bethel, for this is a royal sanctuary, a national temple.'	13 mais tu ne prophétiseras plus à Béthel, car c’est un sanctuaire royal, un temple du royaume.”
14 'I am not a prophet,' Amos replied to Amaziah, 'nor do I belong to a prophetic brotherhood. I ammerely a herdsman and dresser of sycamore-figs.	14 Amos répondit à Amasias: “Je ne suis pas prophète, je ne fais pas partie des groupes de prophètes: je suis berger et je traite les sycomores.
15 But Yahweh took me as I fol owed the flock, and Yahweh said to me, "Go and prophesy to my peopleIsrael."	15 Mais Yahvé m’a pris de derrière le troupeau et m’a dit: ‘Va, prophétise à mon peuple Israël.’
16 So now listen to what Yahweh says: "You say: Do not prophesy against Israel, do not foretel doomon the House of Isaac!"	16 “Puisque tu me dis maintenant: Ne prophétises plus contre Israël, cesse de raconter tes sornettes contre la maison d’Isaac, écoute cette parole de Yahvé:
17 Very wel , this is what Yahweh says, "Your wife wil become a prostitute in the streets, your sons anddaughters wil fal by the sword, your land wil be parcel ed out by measuring line, and you yourself wil die onpolluted soil and Israel will go into captivity far from its own land!" '	17 Ta femme se prostituera dans la ville, tes fils et tes filles seront tués par l’épée, ta terre sera partagée, et toi tu mourras sur une terre impure; quant à Israël, il sera déporté loin de sa terre.”
