NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everybody in the countrytremble, for the Day of Yahweh is coming, yes, it is near.	1 Sonate la tromba in Sion, gridate altamente sul mio monte santo, e tremino tutti gli abitatori della terra, perchè viene il giorno del Signore: è vicino:
2 Day of darkness and gloom, Day of cloud and blackness. Like the dawn, across the mountains spreadsa vast and mighty people, such as has never been before, such as wil never be again to the remotest ages.	2 giorno di tenebre e di caligine, giorno di nubi e di tempeste; come la luce del mattino si stende sulle montagne, un popolo numeroso e forte, tale che come lui non c'è mai stato, e dopo di lui non ve ne sarà uno simile per tutte le generazioni.
3 In their van a fire devours, in their rear a flame consumes. The country is like a garden of Eden ahead ofthem and a desert waste behind them. Nothing escapes them.	3 Dinanzi a lui un fuoco divoratore, dietro a lui una fiamma divampante. La terra, che avanti era un paradiso di delizie, dopo di lui è un deserto senza nessuno, e non v'è chi possa fuggir da lui.
4 They look like horses, like chargers they gal op on,	4 Il loro aspetto è come di cavalli, e correranno come cavalieri,
5 with a racket like that of chariots they spring over the mountain tops, with a crackling like a blazing firedevouring the stubble, a mighty army in battle array.	5 con rumore di cocchi salteranno sulle vette dei monti, col rumore della fiamma che divora la paglia, cor me un forte popolo preparato alla battaglia.
6 At the sight of them, people are appal ed and every face grows pale.	6 Davanti a lui tremeranno i popoli, faran la faccia del colore d'un paiolo.
7 Like fighting men they press forward, like warriors they scale the wal s, each marching straight ahead,not turning from his path;	7 Correranno come eroi, come forti guerrieri salteran sulle mura, si avanzeranno ordinati, senza uscir dalle file.
8 they never jostle each other, each marches straight ahead: arrows fly, they stil press forward, neverbreaking ranks.	8 Non si daranno impaccio l'un coll'altro, ciascuno tirerà dritto pel suo cammino, entreranno anche per le finestre, senza averne alcun danno.
9 They hurl themselves at the city, they leap onto the wal s, swarm up the houses, getting in through thewindows like thieves.	9 Invaderanno la città, correranno sulle mura, monteranno sulle case, entreranno dalle finestre come ladri.
10 As they come on, the earth quakes, the skies tremble, sun and moon grow dark, the stars lose theirbrilliance.	10 Dinanzi a lui tremerà la terra, saranno scossi i cieli; il sole e la luna si oscureranno, le stelle perderanno il loro splendore.
11 Yahweh's voice rings out at the head of his troops! For mighty indeed is his army, strong, the enforcerof his orders, for great is the Day of Yahweh, and very terrible -- who can face it?	11 Il Signore ha fatto sentire il suo grido all'arrivo del suo esercito; le sue schiere sono immense, forti e pronte ai suoi comandi. Il giorno del Signore sarà grande e molto terribile: e chi potrà sostenerlo?
12 'But now -- declares Yahweh- come back to me with al your heart, fasting, weeping, mourning.'	12 Convertitevi ora — dice il Signore, — tornate a me con tutto il vostro cuore, nel digiuno, nelle lacrime, nei sospiri.
13 Tear your hearts and not your clothes, and come back to Yahweh your God, for he is gracious andcompassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and he relents about inflicting disaster.	13 Lacerate i vostri cuori e non le vostre vesti; tornate al Signore Dio vostro, che è benigno e misericordioso, paziente e ricco di clemenza, e ci pensa molto aventi di castigare.
14 Who knows if he wil not come back, relent and leave a blessing behind him, a cereal offering and alibation to be presented to Yahweh your God?	14 Chi sa che non cambi e perdoni, e non lasci dietro a sè la benedizione, cioè il sacrifizio e la libazione al Signore Dio vostro?
15 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion! Order a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,	15 Sonate la tromba in Sion, pubblicate il digiuno, convocate l'adunanza,
16 cal the people together, summon the community, assemble the elders, gather the children, eveninfants at the breast! Call the bridegroom from his bedroom and the bride from her bower!	16 radunate il popolo, convocate una sacra adunanza, convocate gli anziani; fate venire i fanciulli e i lattanti; lo sposo novello lasci il suo letto, e la novella sposa il suo talamo.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, stand weeping between portico and altar, saying, 'Spare yourpeople, Yahweh! Do not expose your heritage to the contempt, to the sarcasm of the nations! Why give thepeoples cause to say, "Where is their God?" '	17 Tra il vestibolo e l'altare i sacerdoti piangano, i ministri del Signore, e dicano: « Perdona, o Signore, perdona al tuo popolo, non abbandonare la tua eredità all'obbrobrio, non la render serva delle nazioni; che non si dica tra i popoli: — Dov'è il loro Dio?»
18 Then, becoming jealous over his country, Yahweh took pity on his people.	18 Il Signore ha mostrato zelo per la sua terra ed La perdonato al suo popolo.
19 Yahweh said in answer to his people, 'Now I shal send you wheat, wine and olive oil until you haveenough. Never again wil I expose you to the contempt of the nations.	19 Il Signore ha risposto e ha detto al suo popolo: « Ecco che io vi manderò il frumento, il vino e l'olio, e ne avrete in abbondanza, e non vi tarò più essere l'obbrobrio delle genti.
20 I shal take the northerner far away from you and drive him into an arid, desolate land, his vanguard tothe eastern sea, his rearguard to the western sea. He wil give off a stench, he wil give off a foul stink (for whathe made bold to do).'	20 E colui che viene dal settentrione l'allontanerò da voi, e lo caccerò in terra impraticabile e deserta: l'avanguardia verso il mare d'oriente, la retroguardia verso l'ultimo mare, e il suo puzzo andrà in alto, e salirà la sua putredine, perchè ha agito con arroganza.
21 Land, do not be afraid; be glad, rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things.	21 Non temere, o terra, esulta, rallegrati, perchè grandi cose ha fatte il Signore.
22 Wild animals, do not be afraid; the desert pastures are green again, the trees bear fruit, vine and figtree yield their richness.	22 Non abbiate più timore, o animali della campagna, perchè ciò che ha di bello il deserto ha rigermogliato, perchè le piante han dati i loro frutti, i fichi e le vigne han date le loro ricchezze
23 Sons of Zion, be glad, rejoice in Yahweh your God; for he has given you autumn rain as justicedemands, and he wil send the rains down for you, the autumn and spring rain as of old.	23 e (voi), o figli di Sion, esultate, rallegratevi nel Signore Dio vostro, perchè egli v'ha dato il maestro della giustizia, e farà discendere a voi le prime e le ultime piogge, come da principio.
24 The threshing-floors wil be ful of grain, the vats overflow with wine and oil.	24 Le vostre aie saran piene di frumento, i frantoi rigurgiteranno di vino e d'olio,
25 'I will make up to you for the years devoured by grown locust and hopper, by shearer and younglocust, my great army which I sent to invade you.	25 e vi ricompenserò degli anni resi sterili dalla locusta, dal bruco, dalla ruggine, dall'eruca, dai miei grandi eserciti che avevo mandati contro di voi.
26 'You will eat to your heart's content, and praise the name of Yahweh your God who has treated you sowonderful y. (My people will never be humiliated again!)	26 Voi mangerete in abbondanza, e vi sazierete, e celebrerete il nome del Signore Dio vostro che ha fatte per voi delle maraviglie, e il mio popolo non sarà più confuso in eterno,
27 'And you will know that I am among you in Israel, I, Yahweh your God, and no one else. My people willnever be humiliated again!'	27 e voi saprete che io sono in mezzo a Israele! Sono io il Signore Dio vostro, e non ve n'èun altro. E il mio popolo non sarà più confuso in eterno.
	28 E avverrà che dopo tali cose io spanderò il mio spirito sopra tutti gli uomini: i vostri figli e le vostre figlie profeteranno, i vostri vecchi avran dei sogni, i vostri giovani delle visioni.
	29 Ed anche sopra i miei servi e serve effonderò in quei giorni il mio spirito,
	30 e farò apparire dei prodigi nel cielo e sulla terra: sangue, fuoco e colonne di fumo.
	31 Il sole si cangerà in tenebre, la luna in sangue, prima che venga il giorno del Signore, grande e terribile.
	32 Ed allora chi invocherà il Nome del Signore sarà salvo, perchè sul monte di Sion e di Gerusalemme vi sarà la salvezza — come ha detto il Signore — tra gli avanzi chiamati dal Signore.
