1 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everybody in the countrytremble, for the Day of Yahweh is coming, yes, it is near.	1 - Sonate la tromba in Sion, urlate sul mio santo monte! Si riscuotano tutti gli abitanti del paese, perchè il giorno del Signore viene, perchè è vicino!
2 Day of darkness and gloom, Day of cloud and blackness. Like the dawn, across the mountains spreadsa vast and mighty people, such as has never been before, such as wil never be again to the remotest ages.	2 Giorno di tenebre e di oscurità, giorno di nembo e di turbine. Quale alba su per i monti, si spande un popolo numeroso e forte. Pari a lui non v'è: nè fu dal principio in poi, nè vi sarà in seguito, pel volgere di generazioni e generazioni.
3 In their van a fire devours, in their rear a flame consumes. The country is like a garden of Eden ahead ofthem and a desert waste behind them. Nothing escapes them.	3 Dinanzi alla sua faccia, un fuoco divoratore; e dietro a lui, una fiamma ardente. Come un giardino di delizie è la terra davanti a lui; e dietro a lui, un deserto di desolazione, e da lui non c'è scampo alcuno.
4 They look like horses, like chargers they gal op on,	4 Hanno l'aspetto come l'aspetto dei cavalli, e come cavalieri, così correranno.
5 with a racket like that of chariots they spring over the mountain tops, with a crackling like a blazing firedevouring the stubble, a mighty army in battle array.	5 Salteranno con rumore come di carri rimbalzanti pei gioghi dei monti, con lo scroscio della vampa del fuoco che divorerà la paglia come un popolo formidabile ordinato in battaglia.
6 At the sight of them, people are appal ed and every face grows pale.	6 Al loro affacciarsi staranno in angoscia le genti, tutti faranno l'aspetto più scuro di un paiuolo.
7 Like fighting men they press forward, like warriors they scale the wal s, each marching straight ahead,not turning from his path;	7 Correranno come forti campioni, come uomini di guerra scaleranno le mura, s'avanzeranno ognuno nella sua direzione e non devieranno dalle loro strade.
8 they never jostle each other, each marches straight ahead: arrows fly, they stil press forward, neverbreaking ranks.	8 L'uno non farà inciampo al suo uguale, ciascuno procederà pel suo sentiero; fin traverso le aperture piomberanno e non si scompiglieranno.
9 They hurl themselves at the city, they leap onto the wal s, swarm up the houses, getting in through thewindows like thieves.	9 Irromperanno nella città, scorreranno sul muro, monteranno nelle case, entreranno fino per le finestre come un ladro.
10 As they come on, the earth quakes, the skies tremble, sun and moon grow dark, the stars lose theirbrilliance.	10 Dinanzi a loro ha tremato la terra, si scossero i cieli, il sole e la luna si oscurarono e le stelle ritirarono il loro splendore.
11 Yahweh's voice rings out at the head of his troops! For mighty indeed is his army, strong, the enforcerof his orders, for great is the Day of Yahweh, and very terrible -- who can face it?	11 E il Signore alzò la voce alla testa del suo esercito, perchè la sua armata è numerosissima, perchè è forte ed esecutrice della sua parola. Sì, il giorno del Signore è grande e terribilissimo, e chi lo potrà sostenere?».
12 'But now -- declares Yahweh- come back to me with al your heart, fasting, weeping, mourning.'	12 Ora dunque dice il Signore: «Convertitevi a me di tutto cuore nel digiuno, nel pianto e nel duolo.
13 Tear your hearts and not your clothes, and come back to Yahweh your God, for he is gracious andcompassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and he relents about inflicting disaster.	13 E squarciate i vostri cuori e non i vostri vestimenti, e convertitevi al nostro Signore Iddio, perchè egli è benigno e misericordioso, paziente e molto compassionevole e predisposto a condonare il male.
14 Who knows if he wil not come back, relent and leave a blessing behind him, a cereal offering and alibation to be presented to Yahweh your God?	14 Chissà che non si rivolga a noi e perdoni, e lasci dietro a sè benedizione, offerta e libazione per sè, il Signore Dio vostro.
15 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion! Order a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,	15 Sonate la tromba in Sion, indite un santo digiuno, convocate la radunanza,
16 cal the people together, summon the community, assemble the elders, gather the children, eveninfants at the breast! Call the bridegroom from his bedroom and the bride from her bower!	16 radunate il popolo e indite l'assemblea santa; raccogliete i vecchi, riunite i fanciulli, i bambini di latte; esca lo sposo dalla sua stanza nuziale e la sposa dal suo talamo.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, stand weeping between portico and altar, saying, 'Spare yourpeople, Yahweh! Do not expose your heritage to the contempt, to the sarcasm of the nations! Why give thepeoples cause to say, "Where is their God?" '	17 Tra il vestibolo e l'altare i sacerdoti ministri del Signore piangeranno e diranno: - Perdona Signore, perdona al tuo popolo, e non esporre la tua eredità al ludibrio di essere dominata dalle genti! Perchè avrebbero a dire tra i popoli: Dov'è il loro Dio?-».
18 Then, becoming jealous over his country, Yahweh took pity on his people.	18 E il Signore mostrò d'esser geloso della sua terra, e risparmiò il suo popolo.
19 Yahweh said in answer to his people, 'Now I shal send you wheat, wine and olive oil until you haveenough. Never again wil I expose you to the contempt of the nations.	19 E il Signore rispose e disse al suo popolo: «Ecco, che io vi manderò il frumento e il vino e l'olio e ne avrete abbondanza, e non vi esporrò più al ludibrio delle genti.
20 I shal take the northerner far away from you and drive him into an arid, desolate land, his vanguard tothe eastern sea, his rearguard to the western sea. He wil give off a stench, he wil give off a foul stink (for whathe made bold to do).'	20 E quello dal settentrione io allontanerò da voi e lo sospingerò in una terra impraticabile e deserta, colla fronte al mare orientale e il suo lembo estremo al mare di ponente; e salirà il suo fetore e salirà il suo puzzo, perchè agì superbamente.
21 Land, do not be afraid; be glad, rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things.	21 Non temere, o terra, godi e rallegrati, perchè il Signore sta operando cose grandiose.
22 Wild animals, do not be afraid; the desert pastures are green again, the trees bear fruit, vine and figtree yield their richness.	22 Non temete, o animali della campagna, perchè i pascoli buoni del deserto hanno rigermogliato; perchè l'albero porta il suo frutto, il fico e la vite hanno ridato la loro virtù.
23 Sons of Zion, be glad, rejoice in Yahweh your God; for he has given you autumn rain as justicedemands, and he wil send the rains down for you, the autumn and spring rain as of old.	23 O figliuoli di Sion, esultatevi e rallegratevi nel Signore Dio vostro, perchè vi ha dato il maestro della giustizia e vi farà discendere le piogge, la prima e la serotina, come da principio.
24 The threshing-floors wil be ful of grain, the vats overflow with wine and oil.	24 E le aie saranno piene di grano e i pressoi traboccheranno di vino e di olio.
25 'I will make up to you for the years devoured by grown locust and hopper, by shearer and younglocust, my great army which I sent to invade you.	25 E vi compenserò delle annate che hanno consumato la locusta, il bruco, la ruggine e il verme, quella mia gran forza armata che ho mandato contro di voi.
26 'You will eat to your heart's content, and praise the name of Yahweh your God who has treated you sowonderful y. (My people will never be humiliated again!)	26 E avrete cibo da mangiare e ve ne satollerete, e loderete il nome del Signore Dio vostro che ha operato con voi miracoli, e il mio popolo non sarà confuso in eterno.
27 'And you will know that I am among you in Israel, I, Yahweh your God, and no one else. My people willnever be humiliated again!'	27 E conoscerete che in mezzo a Israele io ci sono, e che sono io il Signore Dio vostro e non altri; e il mio popolo non sarà confuso in eterno.
	28 E avverrà dopo questo, che io effonderò il mio spirito sopra tutti gli uomini, e i vostri figliuoli e le vostre figliuole profeteranno, e i vostri vecchi sogneranno sogni, e i vostri giovani vedranno visioni.
	29 Ma anche sopra i servi miei e sopra le serve effonderò il mio spirito.
	30 E darò prodigi in cielo e in terra, sangue e fuoco e nuvole di fumo.
	31 E il sole si cangerà in tenebre e la luna in sangue innanzi che venga il grande e tremendo giorno del Signore.
	32 E avverrà che chiunque avrà invocato il nome di Dio sarà salvo perchè nel monte Sion ed in Gerusalemme vi sarà la salvezza, come il Signore ha detto, e negli avanzi che il Signore avrà chiamati.
