1 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everybody in the countrytremble, for the Day of Yahweh is coming, yes, it is near.	1 Suonate la buccina in Sion, alzate le strida sul mio monte santo, siano in movimento tutti gli abitanti della terra, perchè viene il di del Signore, perchè egli è vicino,
2 Day of darkness and gloom, Day of cloud and blackness. Like the dawn, across the mountains spreadsa vast and mighty people, such as has never been before, such as wil never be again to the remotest ages.	2 Giorno di tenebre, e di caligine, giorno nuvoloso, e tempestoso: un popolo numeroso, e forte per tutta la montagna si spande come la luce del mattino. Simile a lui pell'addietro non fu, e non vi sarà per generazioni, e generazioni.
3 In their van a fire devours, in their rear a flame consumes. The country is like a garden of Eden ahead ofthem and a desert waste behind them. Nothing escapes them.	3 Innanzi a lui un fuoco divoratore, e dietro a lui un'ardente fiamma: la terra, che al venire di lui era un paradiso di delizie, la lascia devastata, deserta; e nissuno da lui può salvarsi.
4 They look like horses, like chargers they gal op on,	4 Il loro aspetto è come di cavalli, e correranno a guisa di cavalieri,
5 with a racket like that of chariots they spring over the mountain tops, with a crackling like a blazing firedevouring the stubble, a mighty army in battle array.	5 Salteranno sulle vette de' monti con rumore simile ai cocchi, con rumore simile a quello di una fiamma, che brugia le paglie, e come una moltitudine di gente armata ordinata in battaglia,
6 At the sight of them, people are appal ed and every face grows pale.	6 Al loro arrivo si atterriranno le genti, e le loro facce diverranno del colore di una pignatta.
7 Like fighting men they press forward, like warriors they scale the wal s, each marching straight ahead,not turning from his path;	7 Correranno come campioni, come forti guerrieri saliranno sulla muraglia; ogni uomo si avanzerà nella sua fila, e non usciranno mai fuori della loro ordinanza.
8 they never jostle each other, each marches straight ahead: arrows fly, they stil press forward, neverbreaking ranks.	8 Non si daranno impaccio l'uno all'altro, ciascuno tirerà diritto al suo cammino; ed entreranno anche per le finestre, senza patirne lesione.
9 They hurl themselves at the city, they leap onto the wal s, swarm up the houses, getting in through thewindows like thieves.	9 Giungeranno nella città, correranno sulle mura, si getteran per le case, salteran come ladro dentro le finestre.
10 As they come on, the earth quakes, the skies tremble, sun and moon grow dark, the stars lose theirbrilliance.	10 Al loro arrivo scuoterassi la terra, i cieli saranno scommossi; il sole, e la luna si oscurano, e le stelle perdono il loro splendore.
11 Yahweh's voice rings out at the head of his troops! For mighty indeed is his army, strong, the enforcerof his orders, for great is the Day of Yahweh, and very terrible -- who can face it?	11 Perocché il Signore ha fatto udir la sua voce all'arrivo del suo esercito perocché moltissime son le sue schiere; perocché sono forti, ed eseguiranno i comandi di lui: perocché grande, molto terribile egli è il dì del Signore; e chi potrà reggervi?
12 'But now -- declares Yahweh- come back to me with al your heart, fasting, weeping, mourning.'	12 Adesso adunque, dice il Signore, convertitevi a me con tutto il cuor vostro, nel digiuno, nelle lagrime, e nei sospiri;
13 Tear your hearts and not your clothes, and come back to Yahweh your God, for he is gracious andcompassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and he relents about inflicting disaster.	13 E spezzate i cuori vostri, e non le vostre vesti, e convertitevi al Signore Dio vostro, perchè egli è benigno, misericordioso, e paziente, e di molta clemenza, e portato a rivocare il gastigo;
14 Who knows if he wil not come back, relent and leave a blessing behind him, a cereal offering and alibation to be presented to Yahweh your God?	14 Chi sa, che egli non si cangi, e ci perdoni, e dietro a se lasci benedizionee onde offerir sagrifizio, e libagione al signore Dio vostro.
15 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion! Order a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,	15 Suonate la tromba in Sion, intimate il digiuno santo, convocate l'adunanza;
16 cal the people together, summon the community, assemble the elders, gather the children, eveninfants at the breast! Call the bridegroom from his bedroom and the bride from her bower!	16 Raunate il popolo, purificate tutta la gente, raunate i seniori, fate venire i fanciulli, e i bambini di latte: esca lo sposo dal letto nuziale, e dal talamo suo la sposa.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, stand weeping between portico and altar, saying, 'Spare yourpeople, Yahweh! Do not expose your heritage to the contempt, to the sarcasm of the nations! Why give thepeoples cause to say, "Where is their God?" '	17 Tral vestibolo, e l'altare piangano i sacerdoti ministri del Signore, e dicano: Perdona, o Signore, perdona al tuo popolo; e non abbandonare all'obbrobrio la tua eredità sotto il dominio delle nazioni. Avrann' elleno a poter dire le genti: Il Dio loro dov'è?
18 Then, becoming jealous over his country, Yahweh took pity on his people.	18 Il Signor ha amore per la sua terra, ed ha perdonato al suo popolo.
19 Yahweh said in answer to his people, 'Now I shal send you wheat, wine and olive oil until you haveenough. Never again wil I expose you to the contempt of the nations.	19 Ed ha parlato il Signore, ed ha detto al suo popolo: Ecco, che io manderò a voi grano, e vino, ed olio, e ne avrete abbondanza, e non permetterò più, che voi siate lo scherno delle nazioni,
20 I shal take the northerner far away from you and drive him into an arid, desolate land, his vanguard tothe eastern sea, his rearguard to the western sea. He wil give off a stench, he wil give off a foul stink (for whathe made bold to do).'	20 E caccerò lungi da voi colui, che sta da settentrione, e lo getterò in un paese disabitato, e deserto: la vanguardia verso il mare di oriente, la retroguardia verso il mare più lontano; ed egli imputridirà, e tramanderà tetro odore perchè ha agito con arroganza.
21 Land, do not be afraid; be glad, rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things.	21 Terra, non più temere, esulta, e rallegrati; perocché grandi cose ha fatte per te il Signore.
22 Wild animals, do not be afraid; the desert pastures are green again, the trees bear fruit, vine and figtree yield their richness.	22 Voi animali della campagna, non più temete: perocché ripullulano i campi deserti, le piante danno i lor frutti, il fico, e la vigna han messa fuora la loro virtù.
23 Sons of Zion, be glad, rejoice in Yahweh your God; for he has given you autumn rain as justicedemands, and he wil send the rains down for you, the autumn and spring rain as of old.	23 E voi, figliuoli di Sion, esultate, e rallegratevi nel Signore Dio vostro, per chè egli ha dato a voi il maestro della giustizia, e manderà a voi le piogge d'autunno, e di primavera come in antico.
24 The threshing-floors wil be ful of grain, the vats overflow with wine and oil.	24 E le aje saranno piene di grano, e le cantine ridonderanno di vino, e di olio.
25 'I will make up to you for the years devoured by grown locust and hopper, by shearer and younglocust, my great army which I sent to invade you.	25 E compenserò gli anni renduti sterili dalla locusta, dal bruco, dalla ruggine, e dall'eruca, terribili eserciti mandati da me contro di voi.
26 'You will eat to your heart's content, and praise the name of Yahweh your God who has treated you sowonderful y. (My people will never be humiliated again!)	26 E mangerete allegramente, e sarete satolli, e celebrerete il nome del Signore Dio vostro, che ha fatte mirabili cose per voi, e il mio popolo non sarà confuso in sempiterno;
27 'And you will know that I am among you in Israel, I, Yahweh your God, and no one else. My people willnever be humiliated again!'	27 E conoscerete com' io risiedo in mezzo ad Israele, ed io sono il Signore Dio vostro, ed altro non v'è; e non rimarrà giammai confuso il mio popolo.
	28 E dopo tali cose avverrà, che io spanderò il mio spirito sopra tutti gli uomini, e profeteranno i vostri figliuoli, e le vostre figliuole; i vostri vecchi avranno de' sogni, e la vostra gioventù avrà delle visioni.
	29 Ed anche sopra i servi miei, e sopra le serve spanderò in que' giorni il mio spirito.
	30 E farò apparire prodigj in cielo, e sopra la terra, sangue, e fuoco, e globi di fumo.
	31 Il sole si cangerà in tenebre, e la luna in sangue, prima che venga quel giorno grande, e orribile del Signore.
	32 E avverrà, che chiunque invocherà il nome del Signore, avrà salute; perocché nel monte di Sion, e in Gerusalemme troveran salvamento, come ha detto il Signore, gli avanzi, che saran chiamati dal Signore.
