NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everybody in the countrytremble, for the Day of Yahweh is coming, yes, it is near.	1 Suonate la tromba in Sion, date l'allarme sul mio santo monte! Tremino tutti gli abitanti della terra: E' venuto il giorno del Signore! E' vicino!
2 Day of darkness and gloom, Day of cloud and blackness. Like the dawn, across the mountains spreadsa vast and mighty people, such as has never been before, such as wil never be again to the remotest ages.	2 Giorno di tenebre e di oscurità, giorno di nube e di caligine! Come l'aurora che si stende sui monti, un popolo numeroso e forte; come lui non ve ne fu mai fin dai tempi remoti e dopo lui non ve ne sarà per gli anni di tutte le generazioni!
3 In their van a fire devours, in their rear a flame consumes. The country is like a garden of Eden ahead ofthem and a desert waste behind them. Nothing escapes them.	3 Davanti a lui il fuoco divora e dietro a lui la fiamma consuma; come il giardino dell'Eden davanti a lui è la terra ma, dopo che è passato, è un deserto desolato: da lui non c'è scampo.
4 They look like horses, like chargers they gal op on,	4 Il suo aspetto è l'aspetto di cavalli, come cavalieri così corrono essi;
5 with a racket like that of chariots they spring over the mountain tops, with a crackling like a blazing firedevouring the stubble, a mighty army in battle array.	5 come un fragore di carri che balzano sulle cime dei monti; come il crepitìo d'una fiamma di fuoco che divora la stoppia; come un popolo forte disposto per la battaglia!
6 At the sight of them, people are appal ed and every face grows pale.	6 Davanti a lui si contorcono i popoli, tutte le facce si scolorano.
7 Like fighting men they press forward, like warriors they scale the wal s, each marching straight ahead,not turning from his path;	7 Come prodi si slanciano, come guerrieri assaltano il muro; ognuno va per la sua strada senza sviarsi dal loro cammino;
8 they never jostle each other, each marches straight ahead: arrows fly, they stil press forward, neverbreaking ranks.	8 nessuno incalza il suo vicino, ciascuno avanza per la sua via. Si gettano in mezzo alle armi; non lasciano spazi.
9 They hurl themselves at the city, they leap onto the wal s, swarm up the houses, getting in through thewindows like thieves.	9 Penetrano nella città, corrono sopra gli spalti, entrano nelle case; entrano dalle finestre come ladri.
10 As they come on, the earth quakes, the skies tremble, sun and moon grow dark, the stars lose theirbrilliance.	10 Davanti a lui geme la terra e tremano i cieli; il sole e la luna si oscurano, le stelle celano il loro splendore!
11 Yahweh's voice rings out at the head of his troops! For mighty indeed is his army, strong, the enforcerof his orders, for great is the Day of Yahweh, and very terrible -- who can face it?	11 Il Signore fa sentire la sua voce alla testa del suo esercito! Sì, sterminato è il suo accampamento, sì, forte è l'esecutore della sua parola; sì, grande è il giorno del Signore e pieno di spavento: chi può sostenerlo?
12 'But now -- declares Yahweh- come back to me with al your heart, fasting, weeping, mourning.'	12 Anche ora, ecco l'oracolo del Signore: Tornate a me con tutto il cuore, con digiuno, con pianto e lamento!
13 Tear your hearts and not your clothes, and come back to Yahweh your God, for he is gracious andcompassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and he relents about inflicting disaster.	13 Spezzate il vostro cuore, non le vostre vesti e tornate al Signore, vostro Dio! Egli è benigno e misericordioso, lento alla collera e ricco in bontà, e si ricrede del male!
14 Who knows if he wil not come back, relent and leave a blessing behind him, a cereal offering and alibation to be presented to Yahweh your God?	14 Chissà! Potrebbe ricredersi e lasciarsi dietro la benedizione: offerta e libagione per il Signore vostro Dio!
15 Blow the ram's-horn in Zion! Order a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,	15 Suonate le trombe in Sion! Prescrivete un digiuno rituale! Convocate un'adunanza!
16 cal the people together, summon the community, assemble the elders, gather the children, eveninfants at the breast! Call the bridegroom from his bedroom and the bride from her bower!	16 Radunate il popolo! Celebrate una riunione sacra! Radunate gli anziani, radunate i fanciulli e quelli che succhiano il seno! Esca lo sposo dalla sua camera e la sposa dal suo talamo!
17 Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, stand weeping between portico and altar, saying, 'Spare yourpeople, Yahweh! Do not expose your heritage to the contempt, to the sarcasm of the nations! Why give thepeoples cause to say, "Where is their God?" '	17 Tra il vestibolo e l'altare piangano i sacerdoti, ministri del Signore. Essi dicano: "Pietà, Signore, del tuo popolo! Non esporre la tua eredità al vituperio, allo scherno delle nazioni! Perché si dovrà dire tra le nazioni: Dov'è il loro Dio?".
18 Then, becoming jealous over his country, Yahweh took pity on his people.	18 Il Signore è geloso della sua terra e perdona al suo popolo!
19 Yahweh said in answer to his people, 'Now I shal send you wheat, wine and olive oil until you haveenough. Never again wil I expose you to the contempt of the nations.	19 Il Signore parla e dice al suo popolo: Ecco, io vi mando frumento, mosto e olio fresco: ne avrete a sazietà; non vi lascerò più oltre oggetto di scherno tra i popoli!
20 I shal take the northerner far away from you and drive him into an arid, desolate land, his vanguard tothe eastern sea, his rearguard to the western sea. He wil give off a stench, he wil give off a foul stink (for whathe made bold to do).'	20 Colui che dimora nel nord lo allontano da voi; lo ricaccio in un territorio arido e desolato: la sua avanguardia verso oriente, la sua retroguardia verso occidente. Il suo fetore si alzerà, il suo lezzo si leverà! Egli fa cose grandi!
21 Land, do not be afraid; be glad, rejoice, for Yahweh has done great things.	21 Non temere più, terra, rallegrati e gioisci! Il Signore opera grandi cose!
22 Wild animals, do not be afraid; the desert pastures are green again, the trees bear fruit, vine and figtree yield their richness.	22 Non temete più, bestie campestri: i pascoli del deserto sono rinverditi! Le piante producono i loro frutti, il fico e la vite dànno il loro prodotto!
23 Sons of Zion, be glad, rejoice in Yahweh your God; for he has given you autumn rain as justicedemands, and he wil send the rains down for you, the autumn and spring rain as of old.	23 Figli di Sion, rallegratevi, gioite nel Signore, vostro Dio! Egli vi dà la pioggia secondo il bisogno; fa scendere su voi la pioggia in autunno e in primavera, come prima!
24 The threshing-floors wil be ful of grain, the vats overflow with wine and oil.	24 Le aie si riempiono di frumento, i tini rigurgitano di mosto e di olio!
25 'I will make up to you for the years devoured by grown locust and hopper, by shearer and younglocust, my great army which I sent to invade you.	25 Io vi risarcirò degli anni che hanno divorato la locusta e il bruco, la cavalletta e il verme, mio esercito sterminato, che ho inviato contro di voi!
26 'You will eat to your heart's content, and praise the name of Yahweh your God who has treated you sowonderful y. (My people will never be humiliated again!)	26 Voi mangerete molto, a sazietà e loderete il nome del Signore, vostro Dio, che ha fatto per voi meraviglie: il mio popolo non sarà più schernito!
27 'And you will know that I am among you in Israel, I, Yahweh your God, and no one else. My people willnever be humiliated again!'	27 E voi saprete che io sono in mezzo a Israele, che io, il Signore, sono il vostro Dio e non ce ne sono altri: il mio popolo non sarà più schernito!
