NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 It was the first year of Darius son of Artaxerxes, a Mede by race who assumed the throne of Chaldaea.	1 L'anno primo di Dario, figlio di Serse, della stirpe dei Medi, che regnò sul regno dei Caldei,
2 In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, was studying the scriptures, counting over the number of years --as revealed by Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah -- that were to pass before the desolation of Jerusalem wouldcome to an end, namely seventy years.	2 il primo anno del suo regno, io Daniele cercavo di capire nei libri il numero degli anni intorno ai quali era stata rivolta la parola del Signore al profeta Geremia e che si dovevano compiere sulle rovine di Gerusalemme: settant'anni.
3 I turned my face to the Lord God begging for time to pray and to plead, with fasting, sackcloth andashes.	3 E rivolsi il mio sguardo al Signore Dio per pregarlo e supplicarlo col digiuno, il sacco e la cenere.
4 I pleaded with Yahweh my God and made this confession: 'O my Lord, God great and to be feared, youkeep the covenant and show faithful love towards those who love you and who observe your commandments:	4 Pregai il Signore, mio Dio, confessando i peccati così: "Ah, Signore, Dio grande e terribile, che conserva il patto e la benevolenza a coloro che lo amano e che custodiscono i suoi comandamenti!
5 we have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly, we have betrayed yourcommandments and rulings and turned away from them.	5 Abbiamo peccato, abbiamo commesso colpe, siamo stati empi; ci siamo ribellati e ci siamo allontanati dai tuoi comandamenti e dai precetti.
6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our chiefmen, our ancestors and al people of the country.	6 Non abbiamo ascoltato i tuoi servi, i profeti che hanno parlato nel tuo nome ai nostri re, ai nostri capi, ai nostri padri e a tutto il popolo della terra.
7 Saving justice, Lord, is yours; we have only the look of shame we wear today, we, the people of Judah,the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the whole of Israel, near and far away, in every country to which you havedispersed us because of the treachery we have committed against you.	7 A te, Signore, la giustizia e a noi la vergogna sul volto, come avviene oggi per gli uomini di Giuda, per gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e per tutto Israele, per quelli vicini e per quelli lontani, in tutti i paesi dove li hai scacciati per l'infedeltà con la quale hanno agito verso di te.
8 To us, our kings, our chief men and our ancestors, belongs the look of shame, O Yahweh, since wehave sinned against you.	8 Signore, a noi la vergogna sul volto, ai nostri re, ai nostri capi e ai nostri padri, che hanno peccato contro di te;
9 And it is for the Lord our God to have mercy and to pardon, since we have betrayed him,	9 al Signore nostro Dio la misericordia e il perdono, perché ci siamo ribellati a lui
10 and have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God nor fol owed the laws he has given us throughhis servants the prophets.	10 e non abbiamo ascoltato la voce del Signore nostro Dio, per camminare secondo gli insegnamenti che ci aveva dato per mezzo dei suoi servi, i profeti!
11 The whole of Israel has flouted your Law and turned away, unwil ing to listen to your voice; and thecurse and imprecation written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have come pouring down on us, becausewe have sinned against him.	11 Tutto Israele ha trasgredito la tua legge e si è allontanato in modo da non sentire la tua voce! Allora si è riversata su di noi la maledizione e l'imprecazione che è scritta nella legge di Mosè, servo di Dio, perché abbiamo peccato contro di lui.
12 He has carried out the threats which he made against us and the chief men who governed us -- thathe would bring so great a disaster down on us that the fate of Jerusalem would find no paral el under al heaven.	12 Egli ha mandato a compimento la parola che aveva pronunziato contro di noi e contro i nostri governanti: che avrebbe fatto venire su di noi una grave sciagura, che non è mai avvenuta sotto tutto il cielo, come è stata realizzata per Gerusalemme.
13 And now, as written in the Law of Moses, this whole calamity has befallen us; even so, we have notappeased Yahweh our God by renouncing our crimes and learning your truth.	13 Come è scritto nella legge di Mosè, tutta questa sciagura è venuta su di noi. Noi però non abbiamo cercato di propiziare la faccia del Signore, nostro Dio, ritirandoci dalle nostre colpe e istruendoci nella tua verità.
14 Yahweh has watched for the right moment to bring disaster on us, since Yahweh our God is just in allhis dealings with us, and we have not listened to his voice.	14 Il Signore ha preparato la sciagura e l'ha fatta venire sopra di noi, perché è giusto il Signore, Dio nostro, in tutte le sue opere che ha fatto, mentre noi non abbiamo ascoltato la sua voce.
15 And now, Lord our God, who by your mighty hand brought us out of Egypt -- the renown you won thenendures to this day -- we have sinned, we have done wrong.	15 E ora, Signore Dio nostro, che hai fatto uscire il tuo popolo dalla terra d'Egitto con mano forte e ti sei fatto un nome qual è oggi, noi abbiamo peccato, abbiamo commesso l'iniquità.
16 Lord, by al your acts of saving justice, turn away your anger and your fury from Jerusalem, your city,your holy mountain, for as a result of our sins and the crimes of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people areobjects of scorn to al who surround us.	16 Signore, per tutte le tue opere di giustizia, allontana da noi la tua ira e il tuo furore dalla tua città, Gerusalemme, tuo monte santo, perché, per i nostri peccati e per le colpe dei nostri padri, Gerusalemme e il tuo popolo sono diventati un obbrobrio per tutti i nostri vicini.
17 And now, our God, listen to the prayer and pleading of your servant. For your own sake, Lord, let yourface smile again on your desolate sanctuary.	17 Ora ascolta, Dio nostro, la preghiera del tuo servo e la sua supplica! Fa' splendere il tuo volto sopra il tuo santuario devastato, per amore di te stesso, Signore!
18 Listen, my God, listen to us; open your eyes and look at our plight and at the city that bears yourname. Relying not on our upright deeds but on your great mercy, we pour out our plea to you.	18 Piega, mio Dio, il tuo orecchio e ascolta! Apri i tuoi occhi e guarda le nostre distruzioni e la città sulla quale è invocato il tuo nome! Perché, non per le nostre opere giuste noi umiliamo le nostre suppliche davanti al tuo volto, ma per le tue molte misericordie!
19 Listen, Lord! Forgive, Lord! Hear, Lord, and act! For your own sake, my God, do not delay -- sinceyour city and your people alike bear your name.'	19 Signore, ascolta! Signore, perdona! Signore, volgiti e intervieni! Non essere più adirato, per amore di te stesso, Signore mio, perché il tuo nome è invocato sopra la tua città e sopra il tuo popolo!".
20 I was stil speaking, still at prayer, confessing my own sins and the sins of my people Israel, andplacing my plea before Yahweh my God for the holy mountain of my God,	20 Io stavo ancora parlando, pregando e confessando il mio peccato e il peccato del mio popolo Israele e umiliavo la mia supplica davanti al Signore mio Dio in favore del monte santo del mio Dio;
21 still speaking, still at prayer, when Gabriel, the being I had originally seen in vision, swooped on me inful flight at the hour of the evening sacrifice.	21 ancora io stavo parlando e pregando, quando Gabriele, che avevo visto nella visione precedente, volando rapidamente, mi si fece accanto, al tempo dell'oblazione della sera.
22 He came, he spoke, he said to me, 'Now, Daniel; I have come down to teach you how to understand.	22 Egli venne per parlarmi; mi disse: "Daniele, ora io sono venuto per farti conoscere tutto!
23 When your pleading began, a word was uttered, and I have come to tel you. You are a man speciallychosen. Grasp the meaning of the word, understand the vision:	23 All'inizio della tua supplica è uscita una parola e io sono venuto per fartela conoscere, perché tu sei prediletto. Dunque poni mente alla parola e intendi la visione:
24 'Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city, for putting an end to transgression, forplacing the seal on sin, for expiating crime, for introducing everlasting uprightness for setting the seal on visionand on prophecy, for anointing the holy of holies.	24 Settanta settimane sono fissate per il tuo popolo e la tua città santa, per porre fine al delitto, per sigillare il peccato ed espiare la colpa; per far venire la giustizia eterna, per sigillare visione e profezia e per ungere il santo dei santi.
25 Know this, then, and understand: From the time there went out this message: "Return and rebuildJerusalem" to the coming of an Anointed Prince, seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, with squares and rampartsrestored and rebuilt, but in a time of trouble.	25 Sappi dunque e comprendi: Da quando è uscita la parola per far ritorno e ricostruire Gerusalemme, fino ad un Consacrato, a un Principe, sette settimane. E per sessantadue settimane saranno nuovamente riedificati piazza e fossato, ma in mezzo a tempi di sciagura.
26 And after the sixty-two weeks an Anointed One put to death without his . . . city and sanctuary ruinedby a prince who is to come. The end of that prince wil be catastrophe and, until the end, there wil be war and althe devastation decreed.	26 E dopo sessantadue settimane sarà ucciso un Consacrato, senza che in lui sia colpa. La città e il santuario saranno distrutti da un principe che verrà; la sua fine sarà nell'inondazione, ma sino alla fine ci sarà una guerra con distruzioni.
27 He wil strike a firm al iance with many people for the space of a week; and for the space of one half-week he wil put a stop to sacrifice and oblation, and on the wing of the Temple will be the appal ing abominationuntil the end, until the doom assigned to the devastator.'	27 Stringerà un'alleanza con molti durante una settimana e durante mezza settimana farà cessare sacrificio e oblazione; sull'ala del tempio porrà un'abominazione desolante, finché rovina e ineluttabile sorte si riverserà sul devastatore!".
