Daniel 9

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 It was the first year of Darius son of Artaxerxes, a Mede by race who assumed the throne of Chaldaea.	1 El primer año de Darío, hijo de Asuero, de la raza de los medos, que fue constituido rey sobre el reino de los caldeos,
2 In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, was studying the scriptures, counting over the number of years --as revealed by Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah -- that were to pass before the desolation of Jerusalem wouldcome to an end, namely seventy years.	2 el primer año de su reinado, yo, Daniel, investigaba en los Libros el número de años que, según la palabra del Señor al profeta Jeremías, debían cumplirse sobre las ruinas de Jerusalén: eran setenta años.
3 I turned my face to the Lord God begging for time to pray and to plead, with fasting, sackcloth andashes.	3 Yo volví mi rostro hacia el Señor Dios para obtener una respuesta, con oraciones y súplicas.
4 I pleaded with Yahweh my God and made this confession: 'O my Lord, God great and to be feared, youkeep the covenant and show faithful love towards those who love you and who observe your commandments:	4 Oré al Señor, mi Dios, y le hice esta confesión: «¡Ah, Señor, Dios, el Grande, el Temible, el que mantiene la alianza y la fidelidad con aquellos que lo aman y observan sus mandamientos!
5 we have sinned, we have done wrong, we have acted wickedly, we have betrayed yourcommandments and rulings and turned away from them.	5 Nosotros hemos pecado, hemos faltado, hemos hecho el mal, nos hemos rebelado y nos hemos apartado de tus mandamientos y tus preceptos.
6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our chiefmen, our ancestors and al people of the country.	6 No hemos escuchado a tus servidores los profetas, que hablaron en tu Nombre a nuestros reyes, a nuestros jefes, a nuestros padres y a todo el pueblo del país.
7 Saving justice, Lord, is yours; we have only the look of shame we wear today, we, the people of Judah,the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the whole of Israel, near and far away, in every country to which you havedispersed us because of the treachery we have committed against you.	7 ¡A ti, Señor, la justicia! A nosotros, en cambio, la vergüenza reflejada en el rostro, como les sucede en este día a los hombres de Judá, a los habitantes de Jerusalén y a todo Israel, a los que están cerca y a los que están lejos, en todos los países adonde tú los expulsaste, a causa de la infidelidad que cometieron contra ti.
8 To us, our kings, our chief men and our ancestors, belongs the look of shame, O Yahweh, since wehave sinned against you.	8 ¡A nosotros, Señor, la vergüenza reflejada en el rostro, y también a nuestros reyes, a nuestros jefes y a nuestros padres, porque hemos pecado contra ti!
9 And it is for the Lord our God to have mercy and to pardon, since we have betrayed him,	9 ¡Al Señor, nuestro Dios, la misericordia y el perdón, porque nos hemos rebelado contra él!
10 and have not listened to the voice of Yahweh our God nor fol owed the laws he has given us throughhis servants the prophets.	10 Nosotros no hemos escuchado la voz del Señor, nuestro Dios, para seguir sus leyes, que él puso delante de nosotros por medio de sus servidores los profetas.
11 The whole of Israel has flouted your Law and turned away, unwil ing to listen to your voice; and thecurse and imprecation written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have come pouring down on us, becausewe have sinned against him.	11 Todo Israel ha transgredido tu Ley y se ha apartado para no escuchar tu voz. Entonces se descargaron sobre nosotros la imprecación y el juramento que están escritos en la Ley de Moisés, servidor de Dios, porque nosotros pecamos contra el Señor.
12 He has carried out the threats which he made against us and the chief men who governed us -- thathe would bring so great a disaster down on us that the fate of Jerusalem would find no paral el under al heaven.	12 Y él cumplió la palabra que había pronunciado contra nosotros y contra los jueces que nos juzgaban, haciendo recaer sobre nosotros una gran desgracia, porque nunca ha sucedido bajo el cielo lo que sucedió en Jerusalén.
13 And now, as written in the Law of Moses, this whole calamity has befallen us; even so, we have notappeased Yahweh our God by renouncing our crimes and learning your truth.	13 Toda esa desgracia nos sobrevino según lo que está escrito en la Ley de Moisés. Pero nosotros no hemos aplacado la ira del Señor, nuestro Dios, convirtiéndonos de nuestra iniquidad y reconociendo tu fidelidad.
14 Yahweh has watched for the right moment to bring disaster on us, since Yahweh our God is just in allhis dealings with us, and we have not listened to his voice.	14 El Señor estuvo atento a estas calamidades y las descargó sobre nosotros, porque el Señor, nuestro Dios, es justo en todas las obras que hizo; pero nosotros no hemos escuchado su voz.
15 And now, Lord our God, who by your mighty hand brought us out of Egypt -- the renown you won thenendures to this day -- we have sinned, we have done wrong.	15 Y ahora, Señor, Dios nuestro, que hiciste salir a tu pueblo del país de Egipto con mano poderosa, y así te ganaste un renombre que perdura hasta el día de hoy, nosotros hemos pecado y hemos hecho el mal.
16 Lord, by al your acts of saving justice, turn away your anger and your fury from Jerusalem, your city,your holy mountain, for as a result of our sins and the crimes of our ancestors, Jerusalem and your people areobjects of scorn to al who surround us.	16 Señor, por todas tus obras de justicia, que tu ira y tu furor se aparten de tu Ciudad, de Jerusalén, tu santa Montaña. Porque a causa de nuestros pecados y de las iniquidades de nuestros padres, Jerusalén y tu pueblo son el escarnio de todos los que nos rodean.
17 And now, our God, listen to the prayer and pleading of your servant. For your own sake, Lord, let yourface smile again on your desolate sanctuary.	17 Y ahora, Dios nuestro, escucha la oración y las súplicas de tu servidor, y a causa de ti mismo, Señor, que brille tu rostro sobre tu Santuario desolado.
18 Listen, my God, listen to us; open your eyes and look at our plight and at the city that bears yourname. Relying not on our upright deeds but on your great mercy, we pour out our plea to you.	18 Inclina tu oído, Dios mío, y escucha; abre tus ojos y mira nuestras ruinas y la ciudad que es llamada con tu Nombre, porque no presentamos nuestras súplicas delante de ti a causa de nuestros actos de justicia, sino a causa de tu gran misericordia.
19 Listen, Lord! Forgive, Lord! Hear, Lord, and act! For your own sake, my God, do not delay -- sinceyour city and your people alike bear your name.'	19 ¡Señor, escucha! ¡Señor, perdona! ¡Señor, presta atención y obra! ¡No tardes más, a causa de ti, Dios mío, porque tu Ciudad y tu pueblo son llamados con tu Nombre!».
20 I was stil speaking, still at prayer, confessing my own sins and the sins of my people Israel, andplacing my plea before Yahweh my God for the holy mountain of my God,	20 Yo hablaba todavía, orando y confesando mi pecado y el pecado de mi pueblo Israel, y presentando mi súplica delante del Señor, mi Dios, en favor de la Montaña santa de mi Dios;
21 still speaking, still at prayer, when Gabriel, the being I had originally seen in vision, swooped on me inful flight at the hour of the evening sacrifice.	21 yo hablaba todavía en oración, cuando Gabriel, ese hombre al que había visto al comienzo en la visión, se acercó a mí en rápido vuelo, a la hora de la oblación de la tarde.
22 He came, he spoke, he said to me, 'Now, Daniel; I have come down to teach you how to understand.	22 El me instruyó y me habló, diciendo: «Daniel, yo he salido para abrirte la inteligencia.
23 When your pleading began, a word was uttered, and I have come to tel you. You are a man speciallychosen. Grasp the meaning of the word, understand the vision:	23 Cuando tú comenzabas tus súplicas, salió una palabra, y yo he venido a anunciártela, porque tú eres objeto de predilección. Discierne la palabra y entiende la visión.
24 'Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and your holy city, for putting an end to transgression, forplacing the seal on sin, for expiating crime, for introducing everlasting uprightness for setting the seal on visionand on prophecy, for anointing the holy of holies.	24 Setenta semanas han sido fijadas sobre tu pueblo y tu Ciudad santa, para poner fin a la transgresión, para sellar el pecado, para expiar la iniquidad, para instaurar la justicia eterna, para sellar la visión y al profeta, y para ungir el Santo de los santos.
25 Know this, then, and understand: From the time there went out this message: "Return and rebuildJerusalem" to the coming of an Anointed Prince, seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, with squares and rampartsrestored and rebuilt, but in a time of trouble.	25 Tienes que saber y comprender esto:Desde que salió la orden de reconstruir a Jerusalén, hasta que aparezca un Jefe ungido, pasarán siete semanas;luego, durante sesenta y dos semanas, ella será reconstruida con la plaza y el foso, pero en tiempos de angustia.
26 And after the sixty-two weeks an Anointed One put to death without his . . . city and sanctuary ruinedby a prince who is to come. The end of that prince wil be catastrophe and, until the end, there wil be war and althe devastation decreed.	26 Y después de las sesenta y dos semanas, será suprimido un ungido inocente; en la Ciudad y en el Lugar santo, hará estragos el pueblo de un jefe invasor; pero su fin sobrevendrá en un cataclismo, y hasta el fin habrá guerra y las devastaciones decretadas.
27 He wil strike a firm al iance with many people for the space of a week; and for the space of one half-week he wil put a stop to sacrifice and oblation, and on the wing of the Temple will be the appal ing abominationuntil the end, until the doom assigned to the devastator.'	27 El impondrá una alianza a muchos durante una semana; y durante la mitad de la semana hará cesar el sacrificio y la oblación. Y sobre un ala del Templo estará la Abominación de la desolación, hasta que el exterminio decretado se derrame sobre el devastador».
