NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 'I, Nebuchadnezzar, was living comfortably in my house, prosperously in my palace.	1 Én, Nebukadnezár, nyugodtan éltem házamban és vidáman a palotámban.
2 I had a dream; it appal ed me. Dread assailed me as I lay in bed; the visions that passed through myhead tormented me.	2 De álmot láttam, s az megijesztett, nyugvóhelyemen támadt gondolataim és a fejem látomásai megzavartak engem.
3 So I decreed that all the sages of Babylon be summoned to explain to me what the dream meant.	3 Ezért megparancsoltam, hogy hozzák elém Babilon valamennyi bölcsét, hogy mondják meg nekem az álom jelentését.
4 Magicians, soothsayers, Chaldaeans and exorcists came, and I told them what I had dreamt, but theycould not interpret it for me.	4 Be is jöttek a jósok, a bűbájosok, a káldeaiak meg a jövendőmondók, és én elmondtam előttük az álmot, de jelentését nem tudták megmondani nekem.
5 Daniel, renamed Belteshazzar after my own god, and in whom the spirit of the holy gods resides, thencame into my presence. 6 ' "Belteshazzar, chief of magicians," I said, "I know that the spirit of the holy gods resides in you and that no mystery puts you at a loss. 9 Its foliage was beautiful, its fruit abundant, in it was food for al . 10 ' "I watched the visions passing through my head as I lay in bed: Next, a Watchful One, a holy one,came down from heaven.	10 Láttam továbbá nyugvóhelyemen, fejem látomásában, hogy íme, egy szent őr száll le az égből,
11 At the top of his voice he shouted: Cut the tree down, lop off its branches, strip off its leaves, throwaway its fruit; let the animals flee from its shelter and the birds from its branches.	11 hangosan kiált, és mondja: ‘Vágjátok ki a fát és vágjátok le ágait, verjétek le lombját és szórjátok szét gyümölcseit, meneküljenek el alóla a vadállatok, és ágai közül a madarak.
12 But leave the stump with its roots in the ground, bound with hoops of iron and bronze, in the grass ofthe countryside. Let it be drenched by the dew of heaven and have its lot with the animals, eating grass!	12 Gyökereinek törzsökét azonban hagyjátok meg a földben, vas- és rézbilincsbe verve kinn a füvön; öntözze az ég harmata, s a vadállatokkal legyen része a föld füvében.
13 Let it cease to have a human heart, and be given the heart of a beast, and seven times shal passover him!	13 A szíve vetkőzzék ki emberi mivoltából, és állati szívet adjanak neki, és hét idő múljék el fölötte.
14 Such is the sentence proclaimed by the Watchers, the verdict announced by the holy ones- so thatevery living thing may learn that the Most High rules over human sovereignty; he confers it on whom he pleases,and raises the lowest of humankind.	14 Ez az őrök határozott végzése, és ez a szentek szava és kívánsága, amíg megismerik az élők, hogy a Fölséges uralkodik az emberek országán, és annak adhatja, akinek akarja, s akár a legalacsonyabb rendű embert is föléje állíthatja.’
15 ' "This was the dream I had-I, Nebuchadnezzar the king. Now it is for you, Belteshazzar, to pronounceon its meaning, since not one of the sages in my kingdom has been able to interpret it for me; you, however, cando so, since the spirit of the holy gods resides in you." '	15 Ezt az álmot láttam én, Nebukadnezár király. Te tehát, Baltazár, mondd meg hamar a jelentését, mert országomnak egyik bölcse sem tudja megmondani nekem a megfejtését; te azonban meg tudod mondani, mert a szent istenek szelleme van benned.«
16 Daniel, known as Belteshazzar, was confused for a time and upset. The king said, 'Belteshazzar, donot be upset at the dream and its meaning.' Belteshazzar answered, 'My lord, may the dream apply to those whohate you, and its meaning to your foes!	16 Erre Dániel, akit Baltazárnak neveztek, közel egy óráig csendesen gondolataiba merült, és gondolatai megrémítették őt. 17 The tree you saw, so large and strong and tal that it reached the sky and could be seen throughoutthe world,	17 Az a magas és hatalmas fa, amelyet láttál, amelynek teteje az égig ér, amely az egész földön látható,
18 the tree with beautiful foliage and abundant fruit, with food for al in it, providing shade for the wildanimals, with the birds of heaven nesting in its branches:	18 melynek ágai igen szépek és gyümölcse nagyon sok, amelyen étel van minden lény számára, amely alatt a mező vadjai tanyáznak és ágai közt az ég madarai laknak:
19 that tree is yourself, Your Majesty, for you have grown great and strong; your stature is now so greatthat it reaches the sky, and your empire extends to the ends of the earth.	19 te vagy, király! Te naggyá és hatalmassá lettél; nagyságod megnövekedett és eljutott az égig, és hatalmad az egész föld határáig.
20 'And the Watchful One seen by the king, the holy one coming down from heaven and saying, "Cut thetree down and destroy it, but leave stump and roots in the ground, bound with hoops of iron and bronze in thegrass of the countryside; let it be drenched by the dew and have its lot with the wild animals until seven timeshave passed over it":	20 Hogy pedig a király egy szent őrt látott leszállni az égből, aki így szólt: ‘Vágjátok ki a fát és pusztítsátok el, gyökereinek törzsökét azonban hagyjátok a földben, verjétek vas- és rézbilincsekbe kinn a füvön, hintse meg az ég harmata, s a vadállatokkal legyen étele, míg hét idő el nem múlik felette,’ –
21 the meaning of this, Your Majesty, the verdict of the Most High passed on my lord the king, is this:	21 ez azt jelenti, ami a Fölséges határozatából uramra, királyomra következik:
22 You wil be driven from human society and wil make your home with the wild animals, you will feed ongrass, as oxen do, you wil be drenched by the dew of heaven; seven times will pass over you until you havelearnt that the Most High rules over human sovereignty and confers it on whom he pleases.	22 kiűznek téged az emberek közül, és a jószágok meg a vadállatok közt lesz lakóhelyed; füvet eszel, mint az ökör, és az ég harmata öntöz meg téged, és hét idő múlik el feletted, amíg megérted, hogy a Fölséges uralkodik az emberek országán, és annak adhatja, akinek akarja.
23 'And the order, "Leave the stump and roots of the tree", means that your kingdom wil be kept for youuntil you come to understand that Heaven rules all.	23 Mivel azonban az volt a parancs, hogy hagyják meg annak – vagyis a fának – a gyökerét: országod megmarad számodra, ha elismered az ég hatalmát.
24 May it please the king to accept my advice: by upright actions break with your sins, break with yourcrimes by showing mercy to the poor, and so live long and peacefully.'	24 Ezért, király, legyen tetszésedre az én tanácsom: váltsd meg alamizsnával bűneidet és a szegények iránt való irgalommal gonoszságaidat; akkor talán Ő megbocsátja vétkeidet.«

28 The words were not out of his mouth when a voice came down from heaven: 'Of you, KingNebuchadnezzar, it is decreed: the empire has been taken from you,	28 Még a király szájában volt a szó, amikor szózat hangzott alá az égből: »Mondom neked, Nebukadnezár király: királyi hatalmad megszűnik,
29 you wil be driven from human society and wil make your home with the wild animals; you wil feed ongrass, as oxen do, and seven times wil pass over you until you have learnt that the Most High rules over humansovereignty and gives it to whom he pleases.'	29 kivetnek az emberek közül, s jószágok és vadállatok közt lesz lakásod; füvet eszel majd, mint az ökör, és hét idő múlik el feletted, amíg megérted, hogy a Fölséges uralkodik az emberek országán, és annak adhatja, akinek akarja.«
30 The words were immediately fulfilled: Nebuchadnezzar was driven from human society and ate grassas oxen do; he was drenched by the dew of heaven; his hair grew like an eagle's feathers, and his nails becamelike a bird's talons.	30 Ugyanabban az órában beteljesedett a beszéd Nebukadnezáron: kivetették az emberek közül, füvet evett, mint az ökör, és az ég harmata öntözte testét, míg a szőre olyanná nem nőtt, mint a sas tolla, és körme, mint a madarak karma.
31 'When the time was over, I, Nebuchad- nezzar, raised my eyes to heaven: my reason returned. And Iblessed the Most High, praising and glorifying him who lives for ever, for his empire is an everlasting empire, hiskingship endures, age after age.	31 »Az idő elmúltával azonban én, Nebukadnezár, fölemeltem szememet az égre, és visszanyertem értelmemet. Erre áldottam a Fölségest, és dicsőítettem és magasztaltam az örökké Élőt, mert az ő hatalma örök hatalom, és országa nemzedékről nemzedékre fennmarad.
32 Al who dwel on earth count for nothing; as he thinks fit, he disposes the army of heaven and thosewho dwel on earth. No one can arrest his hand or ask him, "What have you done?"	32 Vele szemben a föld minden lakója olyan, mint a semmi, mert ő akarata szerint jár el az égi hatalmakkal és a föld lakóival, és nincs senki sem, aki kezének ellenállhatna. s azt mondhatná neki: ‘Miért tetted ezt?’
33 'At that moment my reason returned and, for the honour of my royal state, my glory and splendourreturned too. 34 And now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, extol and glorify the King of heaven, al of whose deeds are true,al of whose ways are right, and who can humble those who walk in pride.'	34 Ezért most én, Nebukadnezár, dicsérem, magasztalom és dicsőítem az ég királyát, mert minden cselekedete igaz és útjai igazságosak, és azokat, akik kevélységben járnak, meg tudja alázni.«
