Ezekiel 8

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 In the sixth year, on the fifth day of the sixth month, I was sitting at home and the elders of Judah weresitting with me, when suddenly the hand of the Lord Yahweh fel on me there.	1 No sexto ano, no quinto dia do sexto mês, estava eu sentado em minha casa, com os anciãos de Judá, quando a mão do Senhor baixou sobre mim.
2 I looked, and there was a form with the appearance of a human being. Downwards from what seemedto be the waist there was fire; and upwards from the waist there was a bril iance like the glitter of amber.	2 Olhei: enxerguei algo como uma silhueta humana. Abaixo do que parecia serem seus rins, era fogo e, desde os rins até o alto, havia um clarão vermelho.
3 Something like a hand was stretched out and it took me by a lock of my hair; and the spirit lifted mebetween heaven and earth and, in visions from God, took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the inner northgate, where stands the idol that provokes jealousy.	3 Estendeu uma espécie de mão, e me agarrou pelos cachos dos cabelos. O espírito levantou-me entre o céu e a terra, e me levou a Jerusalém, em visões divinas, à entrada da porta interior que olha para o norte, lá onde se erige o ídolo que provoca o ciúme {do Senhor}.
4 There was the glory of the God of Israel; it looked like what I had seen in the val ey.	4 Lá se me manifestou a glória do Deus de Israel, tal como a visão que tive no vale.
5 He said, 'Son of man, raise your eyes to the north.' I raised my eyes to the north, and there, to the northof the altar gate, stood this statue of jealousy at the entrance.	5 E ele me disse: filho do homem, ergue os olhos para o norte. Levantei os olhos para o norte, e vi ao norte da porta do altar, à entrada, o ídolo que provoca o ciúme {do Senhor}.
6 He said, 'Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the monstrous, loathsome things that the Houseof Israel is practising here, to drive me out of my sanctuary? And you wil see practices more loathsome still.'	6 Filho do homem, disse-me, vês tu a abominação que praticam, como eles procedem na casa de Israel, para que eu me afaste do meu santuário? Verás, todavia, coisas muito mais graves.
7 He next took me to the entrance to the court. I looked; there was a hole in the wal .	7 Conduziu-me até a entrada do adro e, reparando, vi que havia um rombo no muro.
8 He said, 'Son of man, bore through the wal .' I bored through the wall, until I had made an opening.	8 Filho do homem, disse-me ele, fura a muralha. Quando a furei, divisei uma porta.
9 He said, 'Go in and look at the loathsome things they are doing inside.'	9 Aproxima-te, diz ele, e contempla as horríveis abominações a que se entregam aqui.
10 I went in and looked and there was every kind of reptile and repulsive animal, and al the foul idols ofthe House of Israel, carved al round the walls.	10 Fui até ali para olhar: enxerguei aí toda espécie de imagens de répteis e de animais imundos e, pintados em volta da parede, todos os ídolos da casa de Israel.
11 Seventy elders of the House of Israel were worshipping the idols -- among them Jaazaniah son ofShaphan -- each one with his censer in his hand, from which rose a fragrant cloud of incense.	11 Setenta anciãos da casa de Israel, entre os quais Jazanias, filho de Safã, se achavam de pé diante deles, segurando cada qual o seu turíbulo, do qual se elevava espessa nuvem de fumaça.
12 He said, 'Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the House of Israel do in the dark, each in hispersonal image-shrine? They say, "Yahweh cannot see us; Yahweh has abandoned the country." '	12 Filho do homem, disse-me ele, vês tu o que fazem os anciãos de Israel na obscuridade, cada um deles em sua câmara, guarnecida de ídolos, pensando que o Senhor não os vê, e que ele abandonou a terra?
13 He said, 'You wil see them at practices more loathsome stil .'	13 E ajuntou: Verás ainda abominações mais graves que eles estão cometendo.
14 He next took me to the entrance of the north gate of the Temple of Yahweh where women were sitting,weeping for Tammuz.	14 Conduziu-me, então, para a entrada da porta setentrional da casa do Senhor: mulheres estavam assentadas, chorando Tamuz.
15 He said, 'Son of man, do you see that? You will see even more loathsome things than that.'	15 Filho do homem, falou-me, tu viste? Verás ainda abominações piores do que estas.
16 He then led me to the inner court of the Temple of Yahweh. And there, at the entrance to Yahweh'ssanctuary, between the portico and the altar, there were about twenty-five men, with their backs to Yahweh'ssanctuary and their faces turned towards the east. They were prostrating themselves to the east, before therising sun.	16 Levou-me então ao interior do templo. À entrada do santuário do Senhor, entre o vestíbulo e o altar, avistei cerca de vinte e cinco homens, que, de costas para o santuário do Senhor, com a face voltada para o oriente, se prosternavam diante do sol.
17 He said to me, 'Son of man, do you see that? Is it not bad enough for the House of Judah to be doingthe loathsome things they are doing here? But they fil the country with violence and provoke my anger further;look at them now putting that branch to their nostrils.	17 Filho do homem, disse-me ele, vês isto? Não basta à casa de Judá entregar-se a esses ritos abomináveis que aqui se praticam? Haverá ainda ela de encher a terra de violência, e não cessará de me irritar? Ei-los que trazem o ramo ao nariz.
18 And so I shal react in fury; I shal show neither pity nor mercy. They may cry as loudly as they like to me; I wil not listen.'	18 Está bem! Eu, de minha parte, procederei com furor, não terei condescendência, serei impiedoso. Inutilmente clamarão a meus ouvidos, não os ouvirei.
