Ezekiel 18

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
2 'Why do you keep repeating this proverb in the land of Israel: The parents have eaten unripe grapes;and the children's teeth are set on edge?	2 "Perché andate ripetendo questo detto contro la casa d'Israele: "I padri mangiano l'uva acerba e si guastano i denti dei figli"?
3 'As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- you wil have no further cause to repeat this proverb in Israel.	3 Per la mia vita, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, nessuno dica più questo detto in Israele.
4 Look, al life belongs to me; the father's life and the son's life, both alike belong to me. The one whohas sinned is the one to die.	4 Ecco, a me appartiene la vita di tutti; quella del padre come quella del figlio mi appartengono: colui che pecca, egli solo deve morire.
5 'But if a man is upright, his actions law-abiding and upright,	5 Se uno è giusto e osserva le norme e la giustizia,
6 and he does not eat on the mountains or raise his eyes to the foul idols of the House of Israel, doesnot defile his neighbour's wife or touch a woman during her periods,	6 non fa pasti sacri sui monti e non alza gli occhi verso gli idoli della casa d'Israele, non rende impura la moglie del prossimo e non s'avvicina alla donna immonda,
7 oppresses no one, returns the pledge on a debt, does not rob, gives his own food to the hungry, hisclothes to those who lack clothing,	7 non opprime nessuno, restituisce il pegno, non commette nessuna rapina, dà il suo pane all'affamato e riveste chi è nudo,
8 does not lend for profit, does not charge interest, abstains from evil, gives honest judgement betweenone person and another,	8 non presta a interesse e non vuole percentuali, si astiene dal male, giudica secondo verità tra uomo e uomo,
9 keeps my laws and sincerely respects my judgements -- someone like this is truly upright and will live-- declares the Lord Yahweh.	9 segue i miei decreti e rispetta le mie norme, così da comportarsi rettamente, questi è giusto e di certo vivrà: oracolo di Dio, mio Signore.
10 'But if he has a son prone to violence and bloodshed, who commits one of these misdeeds-	10 Ma se genera un figlio violento e sanguinario che commette di queste cose,
11 even though the father never has -- a son who dares to eat on the mountains, who defiles hisneighbour's wife,	11 mentr'egli non ne commise nessuna, e cioè fa pasti sacri sui monti, rende impura la moglie del prossimo,
12 who oppresses the poor and needy, robs, fails to return pledges, raises his eyes to foul idols,engages in loathsome practices,	12 opprime il povero e il misero, commette rapina, non restituisce il pegno, alza gli occhi agli idoli, commette delle abominazioni,
13 lends for profit, or charges interest, such a person will by no means live; having committed al theseappal ing crimes he wil die, and his blood be on his own head.	13 presta a interesse e vuole la percentuale, di certo non vivrà; ha commesso tutte queste abominazioni: deve morire; il suo sangue ricade su di lui.
14 'But if he in turn has a son who, in spite of seeing al the sins that his father has committed, does notimitate him,	14 Ma se genera un figlio che ha visto tutti i peccati commessi da suo padre, ha visto e non agisce in quel modo:
15 does not eat on the mountains or raise his eyes to the foul idols of the House of Israel, does notdefile his neighbour's wife,	15 non fa pasti sacri sui monti, non alza i suoi occhi verso gli idoli della casa d'Israele, non rende impura la moglie del prossimo,
16 oppresses no one, takes no pledges, does not rob, gives his own food to the hungry, his clothes tothose who lack clothing,	16 non opprime nessuno, non pignora nessuno, non commette rapine, dà il suo pane all'affamato e riveste chi è nudo,
17 abstains from evil, does not lend for profit or charge interest, respects my judgements and keeps mylaws, he will not die for his father's sins: he wil most certainly live.	17 trattiene la sua mano dal male, non vuole interessi e percentuali, osserva le mie norme e segue i miei decreti, questi non morrà per la colpa di suo padre: di certo vivrà.
18 But his father, because he was violent, robbed others and never did good among his people, willmost certainly die in his guilt.	18 Suo padre, invece, ha compiuto oppressioni e rapine e ha fatto ciò che non è bene in mezzo al mio popolo, egli sì che muore nel suo peccato!
19 'Now, you say, "Why doesn't the son bear his father's guilt?" If the son has been law-abiding andupright, has kept al my laws and fol owed them, most certainly he wil live.	19 Voi dite: "Perché il figlio non porta l'iniquità del padre?". Perché il figlio ha osservato le norme e la giustizia, ha rispettato tutti i miei decreti e li ha eseguiti: per questo vivrà.
20 The one who has sinned is the one who must die; a son is not to bear his father's guilt, nor a fatherhis son's guilt. The upright wil be credited with his uprightness, and the wicked with his wickedness.	20 La persona che pecca, quella deve morire; il figlio non porterà l'iniquità del padre e il padre non porterà l'iniquità del figlio! La giustizia del giusto rimane su di lui e l'empietà dell'empio rimane su di lui.
21 'If the wicked, however, renounces al the sins he has committed, respects my laws and is law-abiding and upright, he wil most certainly live; he will not die.	21 Se un empio si converte da tutti i peccati che ha commesso e rispetta tutte le mie norme e la giustizia, di certo vivrà; non morirà.
22 None of the crimes he committed wil be remembered against him from then on; he wil most certainlylive because of his upright actions.	22 Nessuna delle ribellioni che ha compiuto gli sarà ricordata; vivrà per la giustizia che compie.
23 Would I take pleasure in the death of the wicked -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- and not prefer to seehim renounce his wickedness and live?	23 Forse mi compiaccio della morte dell'empio? Oracolo di Dio, mio Signore. Convertendosi dalla sua condotta, forse non vivrà?
24 'But if the upright abandons uprightness and does wrong by copying all the loathsome practices ofthe wicked, is he to live? Al his upright actions will be forgotten from then on; for the infidelity of which he isguilty and the sin which he has committed, he wil most certainly die.	24 E se il giusto si perverte e non è giusto e commette il male, commettendo tutte le abominazioni che ha compiuto l'empio, forse vivrà? Tutta la giustizia che ha compiuto non sarà ricordata; per l'infedeltà che ha commesso e per i peccati che ha fatto morirà.
25 'Now, you say, "What the Lord does is unjust." Now listen, House of Israel: is what I do unjust? Is itnot what you do that is unjust?	25 Voi dite: "Non va bene la condotta del mio Signore". Uditemi bene, casa d'Israele: è la mia condotta che non va bene o non è forse la vostra che non va bene?
26 When the upright abandons uprightness and does wrong and dies, he dies because of the wrongwhich he himself has done.	26 Se il giusto si perverte, non è più giusto, fa il male e per questo muore: deve pur morire per il male che ha commesso!
27 Similarly, when the wicked abandons wickedness to become law-abiding and upright, he saves hisown life.	27 Se invece l'empio si converte dall'empietà che ha commesso ed esegue le norme e la giustizia, egli salverà se stesso.
28 Having chosen to renounce al his previous crimes, he wil most certainly live: he wil not die.	28 Ha deciso di convertirsi da tutte le ribellioni che ha commesso: di certo vivrà, non morirà.
29 And yet the House of Israel says, "What the Lord does is unjust." Is what I do unjust, House of Israel?Is it not what you do that is unjust?	29 Tuttavia la casa d'Israele dice: "Non va bene la condotta del Signore". E' la mia condotta che non va bene, o casa d'Israele, o è la vostra che non va bene?
30 So in future, House of Israel, I shal judge each of you by what that person does -- declares the LordYahweh. Repent, renounce al your crimes, avoid al occasions for guilt.	30 Perciò io giudicherò ciascuno di voi secondo la propria condotta, o casa d'Israele, oracolo del Signore Dio. Su, convertitevi da tutte le ribellioni e non siano più per voi una trappola al male!
31 Shake off all the crimes you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit!Why die, House of Israel?	31 Allontanatevi da tutte le ribellioni che avete commesso e formatevi un cuore nuovo e uno spirito nuovo. Perché mai, in tal caso, dovreste morire, o casa d'Israele?
32 I take no pleasure in the death of anyone -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- so repent and live!'	32 Oh, non mi compiaccio certo della morte di alcuno, oracolo del Signore Dio. Convertitevi e vivrete".
