NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 How the gold has tarnished, how the fine gold has changed! The sacred stones lie scattered at thecorner of every street.	1 Alef. ¡Cómo, ay, se ha deslucido, el oro se ha alterado el oro mejor! Las piedras sagradas están, ay, esparcidas por las esquinas de todas las calles.
2 The children of Zion, as precious as finest gold -- to think that they should now be reckoned likecrockery made by a potter!	2 Bet. Los hijos de Sión, los excelentes, valiosos como el oro fino, ¡son, ay, considerados como vasos de arcilla, obra de manos de alfarero!
3 The very jackals give the breast, and suckle their young: but the daughter of my people is as cruel asthe ostriches of the desert.	3 Guímel. Hasta los chacales desnudan la teta, dan de mamar a sus cachorros; la hija de mi pueblo se ha vuelto tan cruel como las avestruces del desierto.
4 The tongue of the baby at the breast sticks to its palate for thirst; little children ask for bread, no onegives them any.	4 Dálet. La lengua del niño de pecho se pega de sed al paladar; los pequeñuelos piden pan: no hay quien se lo reparta.
5 Those who used to eat only the best, now lie dying in the streets; those who were reared in the purpleclaw at the rubbish heaps,	5 He. Los que comían manjares deliciosos desfallecen por las calles; los que se criaban entre púrpura abrazan los estercoleros.
6 for the wickedness of the daughter of my people exceeded the sins of Sodom, which was overthrown ina moment without a hand being laid on it.	6 Vau. La culpa de la hija de mi pueblo supera al pecado de Sodoma, que fue aniquilada en un instante sin que manos en ello se cansaran.
7 Once her young people were brighter than snow, whiter than milk; rosier than coral their bodies, theirhue like sapphire.	7 Zain. Más limpios que la nieve eran sus nazireos, más blancos que la leche; de cuerpo más rojo que corales, un zafiro su figura.
8 Now their faces are blacker than soot, they are not recognised in the streets, the skin has shrunk overtheir bones, as dry as a stick.	8 Jet. Más ocuro es su semblante que el hollín, ya no se les reconoce por las calles. Su piel está pegada a sus huesos, seca como madera.
9 Happier those killed by the sword than those kil ed by famine: they waste away, sunken for lack of thefruits of the earth.	9 Tet. Más dichosos fueron los muertos a cuchillo que los muertos de hambre, que extenuados sucumben, por falta de los frutos de los campos.
10 With their own hands, kindly women cooked their children; this was their food when the daughter ofmy people was ruined.	10 Yod. Las mismas manos de tiernas mujeres cocieron a sus hijos: triste alimento fueron para ellas, en la ruina de la hija de mi pueblo.
11 Yahweh indulged his fury, he vented his fierce anger, he lit a fire in Zion which devoured herfoundations.	11 Kaf. Yahveh ha apurado su furor, ha derramado el ardor de su cólera; encendió fuego en Sión que ha devorado sus cimientos.
12 The kings of the earth never believed, nor did any of the inhabitants of the world, that foe or enemywould ever penetrate the gates of Jerusalem.	12 Lámed. Nunca creyeron los reyes de la tierra ni cuantos moran en el mundo, que el adversario y el enemigo entrarían por las puertas de Jerusalén.
13 Owing to the sins of her prophets and the crimes of her priests, who had shed the blood of the upright,in the heart of the city,	13 Mem. ¡Fue por los pecados de sus profetas, por las culpas de sus sacerdotes, que en medio de ella derramaron sangre de justos!
14 they wandered blindly through the streets, polluted with blood, so that no one dared to touch theirclothes.	14 Nun. Titubeaban por las calles como ciegos, manchados de sangre, sin que nadie pudiera tocar sus vestiduras.
15 'Keep away! Unclean!' people shouted, 'Keep away! Keep away! Don't touch!' If they left and fled tothe nations, they were not al owed to stay there either.	15 Sámek. «¡Apartaos! ¡Un impuro!», les gritaban, «¡Apartaos, apartaos! ¡No tocar!» Si huían errantes, se decía entre las naciones: «¡No seguirán de huéspedes aquí!»
16 The face of Yahweh destroyed them, he wil look on them no more. There was no respect for thepriests, no deference for the elders.	16 Pe. El Rostro de Yahveh los dispersó, no volverá a mirarlos. No hubo respeto para los sacerdotes, ni piedad para los ancianos.
17 Continual y we were wearing out our eyes, watching for help -- in vain. From our towers we watchedfor a nation which could not save us anyway.	17 Ain. Y aún se consumían nuestros ojos, esperando un socorro: ¡ilusión! Desde nuestros oteros oteábamos a una nación incapaz de salvar.
18 Men dogged our steps, to keep us out of our streets. Our end was near, our days were done, our endhad come.	18 Sade. Se acechaban nuestros pasos, para que no anduviéramos por nuestras plazas. Cerca estaba nuestro fin, cumplidos nuestros días, sí, llegaba nuestro fin.
19 Our pursuers were swifter than eagles in the sky; they hounded our steps through the mountains, theylay in ambush for us in the wilds.	19 Qof. Nuestros perseguidores eran raudos, más que las águilas del cielo; nos acosaban por los montes, en el desierto nos tendían emboscadas.
20 The breath of our nostrils, Yahweh's anointed, was caught in their traps, he of whom we said, 'In hisshadow we shall live among the nations.'	20 Res. Nuestro aliento vital, el ungido de Yahveh, quedó preso en sus fosas; aquel de quien decíamos: «¡A su sombra viviremos entre las naciones!»
21 Rejoice, exult, daughter of Edom, you who reside in Uz! To you in turn the cup wil pass; you wil getdrunk and strip yourself naked!	21 Sin. ¡Regocíjate, exulta, hija de Edom, que habitas en el país de Us! ¡También a ti pasará la copa: te embriagarás y te desnudarás!
22 Your wickedness is atoned for, daughter of Zion, he will never banish you again. But your wickedness,daughter of Edom, wil he punish, your sins he will lay bare!	22 Tau. ¡Se ha borrado tu culpa, hija de Sión; no volverá él a desterrarte! ¡Pero ha de visitar tu culpa, hija de Edom, pondrá al desnudo tus pecados!
