Jeremiah 21

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh when King Zedekiah sent Pashhur son of Malchiah tohim, with the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, to say this,	1 Palabra que llegó a Jeremías de parte del Señor, cuando el rey Sedecías le envió a Pasjur, hijo de Malquías, y al sacerdote Sefanías, hijo de Maasías, para decirle:
2 'Please consult Yahweh for us, since Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is making war on us: perhapsYahweh wil work one of his many miracles for us and force him to withdraw.'	2 «Por favor, consulta al Señor por nosotros, ya que Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, nos hace la guerra. Tal vez el Señor renueve por nosotros todas sus maravillas, y lo fuerce a retirarse».
3 Jeremiah said to them, 'Take this answer to Zedekiah,	3 Jeremías les dijo: «Díganle a Sedecías:
4 "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: I shal bring back the weapons of war which you are now carrying,and with which you are fighting the king of Babylon and the Chaldaeans now besieging you; from outside thewal s, I shal stack them in the centre of this city.	4 Así habla el Señor, el Dios de Israel: Yo haré retroceder las armas de guerra que ustedes empuñan, con las que combaten al rey de Babilonia y a los caldeos que los asedian desde fuera de los muros, y las amontonaré en medio de esta ciudad.
5 And I shal fight against you myself with outstretched hand and mighty arm, in anger, fury and greatwrath.	5 Yo mismo combatiré contra ustedes con mano fuerte y brazo poderoso, con ira, furor y una gran irritación.
6 I shal strike down the inhabitants of this city, human and animal; they will die of a great plague.	6 Heriré a los habitantes de esta ciudad, hombres y animales, y ellos morirán de una gran peste.
7 Then, Yahweh declares, I shall deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials, the people and those ofthis city who have escaped the plague, the sword, or the famine, into the clutches of Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, into the clutches of their enemies and into the clutches of those determined to kill them; mercilessly,relentlessly, pitilessly, he wil put them to the sword."	7 Después de esto –oráculo del Señor– entregaré a Sedecías, rey de Judá, a sus servidores y a la población que aún quede es esta ciudad después de la peste, de la espada y el hambre; los entregaré en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, en manos de sus enemigos y en manos de los que atentan contra su vida: él los pasará al filo de la espada, sin piedad, sin clemencia y sin compasión».
8 'And you must say to this people, "Yahweh says this: Look, I offer you a choice between the way of lifeand the way of death.	8 Y a este pueblo le dirás: «Así habla el Señor» Miren que yo pongo delante de ustedes el camino de la vida y el camino de la muerte.
9 Anyone who stays in this city wil die by sword, by famine, or by plague; but anyone who leaves it andsurrenders to the Chaldaeans now besieging you will live; he wil escape with his life.	9 El que permanezca en esta ciudad morirá por la espada, el hambre y la peste; pero el que salga y se rinda a los caldeos que los asedian, vivirá, y su vida será para él un botín.
10 For I am determined on disaster, and not prosperity, for this city, Yahweh declares. It wil be handedover to the king of Babylon, and he wil burn it down." '	10 Porque yo he vuelto mi rostro hacia esta ciudad para mal y no para bien –oráculo del Señor–: ella será entregada en manos del rey de Babilonia, que la hará arder por el fuego».
11 To the royal House of Judah. Listen to the word of Yahweh,	11 A la casa real de Judá: ¡Escuchen la palabra del Señor!
12 House of David! Yahweh says this: Each morning give fair judgement, rescue anyone who has beenwronged from the hands of his oppressor, or else my wrath will leap out like a fire, it wil burn and no one will beable to quench it, because of the wickedness of your actions.	12 Casa de David, así habla el Señor: Hagan justicia cada mañana, y libren al explotado de la mano del opresor, no sea que mi furor estalle como un fuego y arda sin que nadie lo extinga, a causa de la maldad de sus acciones.
13 My quarrel is with you, resident of the val ey, Rock-in-the-Plain, Yahweh declares, with you that say,'Who would dare attack us and enter our lairs?'	13 ¡Aquí estoy contra ti, Moradora del valle, Roca de la llanura! –oráculo del Señor–. Ustedes dicen: «¿Quién bajará contra nosotros, quién entrará en nuestras guaridas?».
14 I shal punish you as your actions deserve, Yahweh declares, I shal set fire to its forest and it willdevour all around it.	14 Soy yo el que los voy a castigar conforme al fruto de sus acciones –oráculo del Señor–. Yo prenderé fuego a su bosque y él consumirá todos sus alrededores.
