Jeremiah 15

1 Yahweh said to me, 'Even if Moses and Samuel pleaded before me, I could not sympathise with thispeople! Drive them out of my sight; away with them!	1 E il Signore mi disse: Quando Mosè, e Samuelle si presentasser dinanzi a me, non si piegherebbe l'anima mia verso di questo popolo: discacciali dal mio cospetto, e se ne vadano
2 And if they ask you, "Where shal we go?" tel them this, "Yahweh says this: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for the sword, to the sword; those for famine, to famine; those for captivity, to captivity!	2 Che se ti diranno: Dove anderemo noi? tu dirai loro: Queste cose dice il Signore: Chi alla morte, alla morte; chi alla spada, alla spada; e chi alla fame, alla fame; chi alla schiavitù, (vada) alla schiavitù.
3 "I shal consign them to four kinds of thing, Yahweh declares: the sword to kil , the dogs to drag away,the birds of heaven and wild animals of earth to devour and to destroy.	3 Ed io darò potestà sopra di loro a queste quattro cose (dice il Signore); alla spada, perchè gli uccida; ai cani, perche gli sbranino; agli uccelli dell'aria, e alle bestie della terra, perchè li divorino, e li dispergano.
4 I shal make them an object of horror to al the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh son ofHezekiah, king of Judah, and what he did in Jerusalem." '	4 E farò che siano perseguitati in tutti i regni della terra a cagion di Manasse figliuolo di Ezechia, re di Giuda, me per tutte le cose, ch'ei fece in Gerusalemme;
5 Who is there to pity you, Jerusalem, who to grieve for you, who to go out of his way and ask how youare?	5 Imperocché chi avrà misericordia di te, o Gerusalemme? O chi ti compatirà? O chi anderà a pregare per la tua pace?
6 'You yourself have rejected me, Yahweh declares, you have turned your back on me; so I havestretched my hand over you and destroyed you. Tired of relenting,	6 Tu abbandonasti me, dice il Signore, tu ti tirasti indietro; ed io stenderò sopra di te la mia mano, e ti sterminerò: mi stancai a pregarti.
7 I have winnowed them with a winnow at the country's gates. They have been bereft, I have destroyedmy people, but they refuse to leave their ways.	7 Or io li dispergerò, come colla pala le paglie, per le porte della terra: ho messo a morte, ed ho disperso il mio popolo; né per tutto questo dalle vie loro si son ritirati.
8 I have made their widows outnumber the sand of the sea. On the mother of young warriors I bring thedestroyer in broad daylight. Suddenly I bring anguish and terror down on her.	8 Io ho moltiplicate le vedove più della sabbia del mare: ho mandato contro di loro chi sul bel mezzogiorno uccida alla madre il fanciullo: ho sparso sopra le città un repentino terrore.
9 The mother of seven sons grows faint and gasps for breath. It is stil day, but already her sun has set,she is dismayed and distracted; and the rest of them I shal consign to the sword, to their enemies, Yahwehdeclares.'	9 E' avvilita colei, che avea sette figliuoli; l'anima sua vien meno: è tramontato il sole per lei quand'era ancor giorno. Ella è confusa, e vergognosa, perchè i suoi avanzi consegnerò alla spada in faccia de' suoi nemici, dice il Signore.
10 A disaster for me, mother, that you bore me to be a man of strife and dissension for the wholecountry. I neither lend nor borrow, yet all of them curse me.	10 Ah, madre mia, infelice me! per chè generasti tu me uomo di rissa, uomo di discordia in tutta questa terra? Io non ho dato denaro a interesse, né alcuno ne ha dato a me, e tutti mi maledicono.
11 Have I not genuinely done my best to serve you, Yahweh? Have I not interceded with you in time ofdisaster and distress!	11 Il Signore disse: io giuro, che il tuo fine sarà felice, che io ti verrò incontro nel tempo di afflizione, e nel tempo della tribolazione contro il nemico.
12 'Can iron break the iron of the north and the bronze?	12 Farà egli il ferro lega col ferro di settentrione, e il bronzo col bronzo?
13 Your wealth and your treasures I shal hand over to plunder, without repayment, because of all yoursins, throughout your territory.	13 Io darò gratis in preda le tue ricchezze, e i tuoi tesori, a cagione di tutti i peccati fatti da te, e di tutti i tuoi termini.
14 I shal enslave you to your enemies in a country which you do not know, for my anger has kindled afire that wil burn you up.'	14 E i nemici tuoi farò venir da una terra ignota a te; perocché il fuoco dell'ira mia è acceso, e arderà in vostro danno.
15 Yahweh, you know! Remember me, take care of me, and avenge me on my persecutors. Howeverlong your anger endures, do not snatch me away. Realise that I suffer insult for your sake.	15 Tu conosci, o Signore, ricorditi di me, e vieni a me, e difendimi da coloro, che mi perseguitano: non prendere la difesa mia colla tua longanimità: sappi, che io ho per amor tuo sofferti obbrobrj.
16 When your words came, I devoured them: your word was my delight and the joy of my heart; for I wascal ed by your Name, Yahweh, God Sabaoth.	16 Io trovai la tua parola, e me ne cibai, e la tua parola fu il gaudio, e la letizia del cuor mio; perchè io ho nome da te, Signore Dio degli eserciti.
17 I never sat in the company of scoffers amusing myself; with your hands on me I held myself aloof,since you had fil ed me with indignation.	17 Io non sono stato a sedere nelle adunanze degli uomini di bel tempo, e non mi gloriai di quello, che fé la tua mano: solo io mi sedeva, perchè tu di minacce mi riempisti.
18 Why is my suffering continual, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Truly, for me you are adeceptive stream with uncertain waters!	18 Per qual motivo è diventato perpetuo il mio dolore, e non ammette rimedio la piaga mia disperata? Ella è divenuta per me come quelle acque in fide, che gabbano.
19 To which Yahweh replied, 'If you repent, I shal restore you to plead before me. If you distinguishbetween the precious and the base, you shal be as my own mouth. They will come back to you, but you mustnot go back to them.	19 Per questo cosi parla il Signore: Se ti convertirai, io ti convertirò, e starai davanti alla mia faccia: e se separerai il prezioso dal vile, tu sarai quasi la mia bocca: ei si volgeranno verso di te, e non tu ad essi ti volgerai.
20 As far as these people are concerned, I shal make you a fortified wall of bronze. They will fightagainst you but will not overcome you, because I am with you to save you and rescue you, Yahweh declares.	20 E io farò, che riguardo a questo popolo tu sii un muro di bronzo, forte: eglino ti faran guerra, e non ne potranno più di te, perch'io son teco, affin di salvarti, e liberarti, dice il Signore.
21 I shal rescue you from the clutches of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the violent.'	21 E ti libererò dal poter dei malvagi, e ti salverò dalla possanza dei forti.
